No song ever blew me away like this one, around 1994. I was 17 years old, and I visited an anime convention although I wasn't into anime at the time... at around 1am there was a karaoke session, and two girls sung this one as a duet. It was just completely magical... blue me away. "Big city..." I wish someone had recorded it. It was amazing.

Some old anime soundtracks are real gems. Maybe give a look at the Macross series one of these days, it is full of very emotional songs.

Love this intro, inspired by Streets of Fire. always loved these musical intros. Original Vocalist is Kinuko Ohmori, from 1986.

Streets of Fire is just as awesome!
The Japanese love Blade Runner and underrated 80’s street musical movies and in the end we got one of, if not the top 3, greatest 80’s anime of all time and one of the greatest anime openings of all time
Ages like fine wine every decade!

Fact; the actress who played Priss is actually a real life idol singer. She was supposed to actually die so she (the actress) could move on to another project BUT the project fell through AND the character of Priss became extremely popular so they dared not kill her off as planned (originally she was supposed to be replaced by the character of Vision).

Bubble Crisis was one of the first anime I bought and "Tonight, there's a Hurricane" is still one of my top favorite songs. This series had a lot of good music.

One of the best 80"s cyberpunk anime. Probably because it was actually canceled because of bankruptcy and this unfinished; AND it had bitching hard rocking music.

BGC was one of the greatest 80s anime ever made. The soundtrack made it utterly unforgettable. Kinuko Ohmori was a professional rock singer, with ehr own band. So it stands to reason that she would do a great job. Regrettably, AIC could not get her to reprise her role as Priss when they made a sequel. So it did not do as well. Check out Mad Machine as well. The guitar outro in that song is insane.

Idol singer moonlighting as mecha suit vigilante. This is good 80s shit.
Actually, which band started the "lead singer opens with back to the audience, turns around for effect when the song starts? I think I first saw it with Joan Jett & The Blackhearts' "Hate myself for Loving You" video.

It somewhat resesmbles the characters of "Jam and the Holograms". At least, I've just been having associations with them. I am seeing this video for the first time as well.

Glad I am not the only one who likes this. I have the entire series on dvd. I even had the series on vhs. Unfortunately I watched it so many times that it wore out. A friend introduced it to me when it came out in 1987. Every time a new vhs came out, I got it right away. My advice to everyone- watch it in Japanese with subtitles. Me, I listen to it in Japanese without subtitles. The English dub is not so good. Also, if you can. Watch the movie Streets of Fire before you watch this. You will know why. 🌴😎😸😸😸

There's an original video of the real-life singer and group doing the song without the anime, if you're interested. I've also seen a Spanish duo doing a cover with the lyrics translated into Spanish, with the same energy.
