Eli Abarbanel personally I think the bowser in Yoshi's Island is way scarier but that's just my opinion.

I love how when the phase 3 starts, the clown car isn’t having any of it, and the music is intense
The thunderstorm effect makes this so intense, I just love how the intro builds up when Bowser is performing another move.
And then the music speeds up in the 3rd phase, as the clown car gets pissed

@@DANYCRAFTYT Yoshi's Island is actually on another level and with high screen resolution and widescreen, no one would have batted an eye if it released today, in fact probably even would have praised it

This boss fight is better than a lot of modern games' fights too. So many are simple or come down to one gimmick, in any series

There was always something epic about this particular final battle. The music slowly building up intesity as bowser comes from the sky, bowser flying into the screen before changing patterns, starting the battle toying with mario, only to out right try to flatten him near the end, and something they never did again in the mainline series: no scoreboard, coin counter, lives counter, or timer. Just you and bowser: the big showdown. This and the final battle in nwsb wii are my favorites.
So true. When this first came out my whole family was watching the TV like it was an event. Nothing like this was ever seen in video gaming before. It really set the bar high for what a “boss” battle should be. I’ll never forget that memory
Not too surprised the timer gets removed, for this final battle; one of those (as said on TV Tropes) ‘anti-frustration features’ - done in consideration of the players (in that they get to take their time, in this excruciatingly hard boss fight).
@@michaelweech6432 that and also the HUD would make certain aspects of the fight a little harder to see like the falling flames
just beat wonder recently. i think that final boss was really good, but easy, never took a hit. i would place it as a solid 3rd based on the lack of challenge.

Beat this when I was in 1st grade. I was so excited to see this ending. I remember trying that last battle SEVERAL times lolO think it was mainly nerves, as I was genuinely scared and my palms were so sweaty lol I remember calling my entire family into the room to watch the credits with me. Good times.
(Edit) Also, the second time I beat the game I made sure I had my tape recorder to witness it. I loved the music SO MUCH at that age, I felt like I had to capture it to cassette tape. Once again the family gathered around as I defeated Bowser, and I recorded from the 1992 speaker I to a K mart cassette tape recorder the entire ending credits! I had this for years, until it was unfortunately lost between many moves. Still to this day, the end credit music gives me a nostalgic feeling of triumph and happiness, that I’ll never forget. ❤️
Also I’m a bedroom music producer who feels heavily influenced by the midi tracks of this era.

Despite being born in 1999, this was the first video game final boss I had EVER defeated, nearly TWENTY years after the game came out. I never forgot the feeling “THIS IS IT!!!” as I practically cowered in fear as the Koopa himself descended.
My parents kept me away from new consoles or flip phones of the day, but I discovered my parents’ dark secret in the mid-2000s: They were once gamers.

My favorite part on Super Mario World is the secret key lock and beating Bowser.

Bowser's undoing is that of every great monster in fiction: He assumed that Mario was just like himself, and would think of nothing else to do with the Mecha-Koopas than destroy them.

Y'know, you don't have to do all the levels, you can just do Star Road, and the pad before Star World 5 leads to Bowser's Castle
