That’s bad luck Rob, I know how you feel, it’s a horrible feeling. About the chain going rusty, it must be a Ducati thing, Nicky’s scrambler was like that, I was forever cleaning it and re-greasing it , then she changed the sprocket and chain and it’s been fine since .
I don't get that at all. I'd have expected a Ducati chain to have been a decent bit of kit. Best one that I've had has been the orange Powerparts one that I fitted to Moose. It's still in great condition. An expensive night away that turned out to be for sure.
Ouch! So sorry to see that Rob. It’s never a good sound. I always stop in gear using the side-stand switch to kill the engine so it can’t move. But that sidestand looks really fragile so may not have made any difference. Glad you can fix it. It’s only money!
Cheers mate. On the plus side, other than the gearshift, there's nothing that stops me from riding the bike and I can chip away and buy parts as I go. Only pi$$er is that it's money that could have gone towards something else... Like an exhaust!
Yup! And that's without labour costs. The gear selector had me stumped and I had to admit defeat and take it to a bike shop. Even then, they ended up needing an extra pair of hands to tackle it. Still, I love the bike and the cost of fixing things if/when they go wrong is something that I had to expect buying a Ducati. The flexing side stand however does freak me out.
nightmare! to be honest, i wouldn’t have bothered with the engine case, was so superficial, was more like a stone chip. Side stand footprint is really quite small and narrow isn’t? like you say, little weight on a small pebble all it takes…Totally get why you want it back to 100% though. At least it wasn’t raining when it happened 😂🙄. feel your pain.
I don't think I'd have been any more moist even if it had been raining Chris. We'd only ridden around two miles from the hostel and already my tee shirt was wringing wet with sweat💦 What's most annoying is that it's money for nothing. I could have spent it on other improvements 🫤
@@CampbellZeroOne yeah I bet! Def could have done without it! Ah yeah, you did say you weren't feeling great, not so good and not what you needed...if you're feeling rank already... ☹️
It was a few months ago now Pete. So it doesn't sting quite so much as it did. Although it took me nearly two months before I could watch the footage back 🥴
@@HippoDrones Honestly, I was just too knackered with a fever to kick off Pete. I think that after we got it up I was just relieved that it was rideable. That felt like a bit of a reprieve. Money that I could have put towards an exhaust too 🤦🏻♂️

Have to agree that side stand would make me feel nervous as well. I would consider fitting a side stand footpad on it . Wow over a £1000 of damage.

Yes you can see why simply dropping your bike over could possibly be an insurance write off .
