திருச்சி தாயுமானவர், மிருதங்கம், கஞ்சிரா, கொன்னக்கோல் வாசிப்பதில் புகழ்பெற்றவர். இன்று வாழும் கொன்னக்கோல் கலைஞர்களில், எல்லா வகைகளிலும் தமிழ் இசைத்திறன்மிக்கவர் இவர்.
கொன்னக்கோலில் கலைஞர்களின் குரலே இசைக்கருவி. தாளலயம் அல்லது வாயால் சொற்கட்டுக்களுடன் வாசிப்பது கொன்னக்கோல். கொன்னக்கோல் என்றால் அளவுடன் சொல்வது என்று பொருளாகிறது. கொன்னம் அல்லது கொன்னுப்பித்தல் என்றால் சொல்லுவது என்று பொருள். எதை எங்கு எப்படி அளவுடன் சொல்வது என்பதே இக்கலையின் அடிப்படையாகும்.

Thiruchy Thayumanavar is a maestro in Mridangam, Khanjira and Konnakkol. Among the Konnakkol giants of Thamizh Music, he is a living legend in every sense.
In Konnakkol, the voices of the artists play as the instruments. Orientation of words through beats or vocals is known as Konnakkol.
The words are arranged in a proper scale. ‘Konnam’ or ‘Konnupiththal’, means to recite vocally. When, where and how the words have to be said according to the scale is the foundation of this art.
