    Dude! The moment of truth, should've done a play test 😅. Great stuff on the assembly/reassembly. My 360 slim is due for a new thermal past. Opened it up last week and gave it a good cleaning. My Isopropyl and thermal paste arrived today. You've got a good flow for instructions.

    Good guide, better than any of the others I clicked on, even though mine has a different model disc drive.

    I did my refurbishment on New Year eve. The thing was, my Xbox didn’t have the X brace holding in the heatsink. Instead it was held in with Flathead screws and several delrin and stainless steel washers attached it both screws and underside of the Heatsink (I bought my 360 years ago from a pawn shop after my original got damaged in a move). Cleaning was a PAIN as the previous paste was completely dried and required a lot of rubbing alcohol on both the CPU, and Heatsink to be removed. I used Protronix Series 7 for my Thermal paste of choice. The Console runs fine now Thanks to your tutorial, albeit the Heatsink was Installed differently from the factory Specs.

    What size were the hex bits used to turn the screws? I wish I knew about the tricks to unlock some of those hidden clips throughout this puzzle box before I tried to disassemble it. Thanks for showing me the right way to do it. It's too late for this slim but I won't destroy the next one now lol.

    What is the best thermal paste for xbox 360 is it MX-4 please answer my friend❤

    • @Wildsamsquanch7
      @Wildsamsquanch7  5 месяцев назад +1

      I always use Arctic MX-4. That said, you asked "What is the best thermal paste". You could probably ask 10 people this question as well as how much to use and you would likely get 10 different answers. I have had success w/ MX-4 so that's what I use. I appreciate your support!

    I did what you did with your disc drive, and now the laser doesn't move. I didn't touch anything but the laser (to clean) and lubes up everything.

      @@Wildsamsquanch7 I figured out what the issue was. I was tightening the case too much, so the rotating magnet above couldn't move. Figured something was wrong when I kept the reader open and the laser moved and the disc spun.

      It does not, I believe most RROD issues would require reballing the Cpu/Gpu chips. Unfortunately, that work is beyond my skill level.

      I second this question! I have a 1439 model with what appears to be a broken MU(not saving correctly, updates not working regardless of having external storage), and I'm wondering if I am able to remove the internal MU completely to resolve this?

    • @CasualGameDev
      @CasualGameDev Год назад +1

      Update: I removed the side just like the first step in the tutorial, if you shine a flashlight in you will either see that there is a seperate PCB sticking up(like the video) or it will be soldered. Luckily in my case, it was a seperate board, so tomorrow I will take apart and remove the MU. I will update on how this goes, hopefully this helps you man
