Of course! The article is called: Research into post-traumatic growth in therapists: A critical literature review by Lucie Bartoskova. It’s a good read and the topic of post traumatic growth is so interesting
Just found your channel so sorry if you’ve already talked about this. Just curious! 😅 Do you ever or have you ever felt like you needed to cover up your tattoos?
Yes and no haha. Just depends on where I’m working at. I’ve worked at places such as RMYA where they told me to put on a long sleeve or a basketball sleeve to cover them up. That sucks when it’s 110 degrees outside and you’re the only one wearing a long sleeve 😂☀️. But I’ve also worked at places that were more laid-back and didn’t care to much. Right now I see clients through my private practice, so that isn’t a problem!
@@leoscaletta5098 Thanks! Starting my PsyD program in a few weeks. Your videos are super helpful, thanks for sharing! Gives me an idea of what the next few years will look like.
Congratulations 🎉. And I’m glad you found them helpful! You might also find my next video I’m posting on Wednesday helpful as well. It will be about things I wish I knew before heading into my Psyd program.
Hello I'm a graduate student currently seeking my masters. From watching your videos, I am seriously considering going for my psyd after graduation. You are literally inspiring me.
In response to 4:55, I struggle really badly with social anxiety so I experimented with just about everything in my time working with individuals as a counselor in a prison and within my community here are a few things that I found helpful to do between clients/individuals. If I was socially anxious I would go to the bathroom and take some exaggerated breaths out of normal rhythm, extend my hips out and lean my head back to get my body contorted, then make the weirdest faces possible, then stand back up and say every silly or angry thing I could think of, this is a method to kind of let out all of the things I would be anxious about happening, e.g seeming stupid, not knowing what to say, etc etc. This really helped me get through difficult days. If social anxiety wasn't a problem for me that day, I'd usually pop headphones in my ears and do a 5 minute guided meditation, then listen to some motivational music to pump me up and up my confidence level, as I find that I usually operate from a lower confidence level, that pump up music really helps me bring energy into the sessions. If I was doing a big speech infront of groups I would tend to rehearse the event the day of, going through all the most likely ways it could play out, potential questions, potential anxieties, and create a plan for what i'd say or do in response, this really tended to reduce my anxiety when it came time, because my anxiety had nowhere to go, since I knew I had a plan. Then I would do the aforementioned exaggerated movements, followed by motivational music.
I love the idea of making silly faces and saying outlandish things. It’s sounds very paradoxical but I can see how that would work 😊. I appreciate your comment and ideas my friend. Hope you have a wonderful day!
I loved this period - but also really appreciate seeing male clinician vlogs.
I appreciate your comment 😊
That's a big bowl of tea lol
can you share the source you were reading at 2:38? really interesting finding
