- Went to start the vehicle and wouldnt start. Security light kept flashing, no starter noise. Do this to fix this issue.
1. Turn to Aux. Leave on until security light completely turns off. Itll flash then go solid then dissapear. This usually takes around 10 to 15 minutes.
2. Shut off and restart car. Bam! Should turn on.
This is the dumbest feature on a car to fail ever... thank you man. Can’t wait to get rid of this thing...

Literally bought a starter was getting ready to switch it out and right before I did I was banging in it to try and loosen it up to move it cause heard that could work and I noticed the light flashing. This just saved my ass now I gotta figure out how to return this starter lol
Third time this has happened to my Pontiac. First time I had it towed to a mechanic and he said some machine reset it or whatever. Wasn't cheap. So glad I can do this myself. Video is amazing.

What if u have an emergency u have to wait 10-15 minutes so the car can start?? Cause its gona keep doing it every other day like 2-3 times a day just take it to a mechanic so they can do a by-pass i paid $65 and no more worries 😎

@@xandercage7859 well that one id have to just guess on id go through the same steps and after about 12 to 15min turn the car off then try to start it to see if it worked. Without trying it myself i wouldnt know for sure.

It works on 90s pontiac grand ams. Weight for the theftlock to get a solid color wait a few minutes it will not clear away just stay solid and start the car.

I'm gonna have try that on my friends 04, I understand Chevrolet did a recall on some of these cars awhile back, it was the defective ingition switch and tumbler, GM did replaced for free back then, unfortunately, the problem has now reoccured, a new switch is gonna be $133.00 at O'Rileys, we are probably gonna have to replace it later next week or so, THANKS for your input in this problem ✌️👍
It’s your passlock everyone! If it keeps happening, then you need to get it reset
If your vehicle has remote start, use it to start the car so you don’t have to wait 10 to 15 minutes for this. Worked for me!

Got to admit "Me," I thought you were crazy. I've reset the VATS system many times but mostly using fuses but it wasn't working on my Son's car but aure enough your way worked, thanks Bro. Have the same car but from the year 2000, not really a fix for the issue, just wait it out and try again. That's what I've been doing, was hoping for something that would actually fix the issue from happening in the first place.
Happened to me for the 4th time this morning. No security light so I thought I needed a tow this time... Tow truck comes and says the security light is on. Well, at least I knew what to do. He waits the 12 minutes or so and it starts; says he's been in the business 15 years and has never seen that before. What an annoying problem.

What if my security light isn't flashing ? Will this still work ?
Could be a BCM, might look into that.
If the security light isn't flashing then there should be no problems with starting unless the starter is bad🤔
Letting it sit isn't fixing it. When the security light is flashing that means the cpu lost connection to the tumbler security theft sensor on the ignition. Fixing it requires a new ignition.

This is a recall issue with early 2000s gms. Its a free fix at the dealer

I had a similar problem with my grand am idling rough and it turned out to be the MASS FLOW SENSOR was dirty.. easy fix!

The on part before you try to crank it. Turns the lights and radio etc on

I need to jump the battery for my car but I read that I shouldn't jump it while the security light is on (a steady on not flashing.) But the car won't turn on without jumping, so I would have to jump it to get power to even do the security reset. What should I do?
Jump it and do the security reset?
Charge the battery if possible or take it someplace to have them charge it. Then come back try this solution and see if it works

Im tired of this security system paid 1600 for this car put so much money into new waterpump, starter, new battery, new serpentine belt, new 02 sensors new freeze hoses and all and i still have to do this its annoying

This keeps happening i have to do this every other day i put new starter, new battery new serpentine belt thought it was an electric problem then got a new water pump and new freeze resevoir still does it i have the gt version 3400 engine i want this fearture permanently removed😊

This car has done this a few times and i believe it might have something to do with the ignition switch or ecu. Could be temporary but usually works every time its done this to me.

Have to have it reset at the dealer or a mechanic shop that knows how to reset passlock systems

You may need a new ignition switch if thats what youre talking about. Also the passlock can be disabled i believe but ive never done that.

If i understand you, when the security light is on and flashing or solid i think... i believe it wont let your car start at all until you reset the security light like in this video.
@@JasonWright81 My 2004 Alero V6 had this same issue. Had to do this many times! My 2001 Grand AM 2.4l Twin Cam did this today - the difference being the Alero wouldn't crank while the Grand AM does but won't start!

i got a 2000 grand am with 250k on it and we had an ignition issue and hotwired it and had to just bypass the whole security system 😂
If it doesn’t start!!! Its your IDLER CONTROL VALVE it’s carbonized need to clean it even inside of the housing of the valve just need to clean w a clean at your local autoparts store
Que Pedo that has nothing to do with that valve. Its a security lock issue not a starting issue.

Then the passlock needs bypassed or fixed by a shop if it doesnt work like shown.
Fuk and I paid for a new starter. Probably was the security light
Its a diode on your A/C clutch compressor sending voltage spike to BCM/ECM and blowing fuses. Check 10A fuse to AC. If blown see link below for what likely is your problem
