- I'm planning on traveling all over the USA in this van next year and riding the best mountain bike trails I can find. I'm not giving up my life and going full #vanlife, but I wouldn't be surprised if I put 50,000 miles on this thing in 2020.
Thanks to Wayfarer Vans for giving me a discount on this plug and play camper van kit.
I have a 2019 RAM Promaster with 136” wheel base and high roof, so I used the Walter kit: bit.ly/2rvkgB2
Swivel seat adapters: bit.ly/2DoNjZM
80/20 Slotted Aluminum: bit.ly/2rvSq7S

Your dad is a trooper for doing all this AND filming it for you!
Haha most definitely!!
Daddy does all the work.
Dad's trying to get him out basement 😂
@@bkxc why is everything always funny to you?
The guy at the shop says"You can get pretty efficient after 50 times" as he grinds hot metal into the paint job on the roof! Looks like a great van for travelling the USA.
You've got the best dad in the whole world! I'd rather hear it all from the man, who did the work!
So the lesson is: if you want to cool van, you’ve got to have a cool dad.
Easy as that!
My dad passed away a year ago, and a van build would have been right up his alley. He was a life time builder, crafter, and tinkerer with an astounding imagination. I just started my van conversion, and I'll be doing it alone.
@@goy1849 I'm sure your dad is with you in spirit while you build yours ... stay safe and well
@@bkxc an that my friend.....is exactly why you are such a loser, sad man.
Love how he says oh this was so easy ...oh and that was so easy to install ...oh yeah my dad installed it
Props to Wayfarer for keeping those $400 lights in your van.
Very happy about that!
In Paul the Punters van build they removed them because they said they use a lot of power.
I really enjoyed watching all the details of Alex's drawn out build, but this was a nice contrast to that. Wayfarer's stuff looks very professional. 👍
I'll definitely have a few updates along the way, but so much of it is DONE!
Wow, that's awesome. It's actually really good to see other options than just build it yourself for months. I'm pretty capable and have all the tools, but sometimes you just want it done! Can't wait to see it 100%.🤘
Yep, so nice to just git 'er done!
I love the concept! These guys are amazing!
They definitely pull off a great concept!
They make some awesome kits! Thanks for supporting one of our local companies here in the springs! 👍✌
My pleasure!
Well, that certainly is an efficient way of doing things.
Big time!
That is awesome. I will keep Wayfarer in mind for my future pipe dreams
Haha yes!
Respect to the Dad!
Big time!
Wow. Fantastic build. Just incredible. What a great team and terrific result. Love the quality of the materials and the clean install. I guess the second best part, other than how fast the install is is the fact that you can uninstall easily should you need an entire van or even upgrade or redesign.
Pros: Simplicity; Durability; Cleanliness; Form and Function.
Cons: Cost I would expect, limited choice of platforms of course and Design ideas. (Colours etc)
Regardless, this is such a great idea. Even here in Australia I could order all the parts and install them myself.
Great video. Thanks for producing. And congrats to Wayfarer for filling such a niche market. 👏😃
Glad you liked it! Yep, it's very "removable" in case the next person isn't interested in having the camper kit in their.
Congratulations, Brian! Looking forward to the next adventure. So happy for you, brother!
Thanks Roy, it's gonna be fun!
Wow That's awesome. I will be getting my van in a few months and can't wait to start my new adventure. Thank you for your video, It really helped me a lot. 😁
I loved watching Alexander’s build but this makes a lot of sense. Not everyone has months to do the build or two really handy guys to donate tons of time to your van.
Cool build Brian. Keep in mind anything that is on the exterior of the van will take abuse from weather and debris at some point. So, take a close look at where you mounted the air compressor and make sure it's safe from rocks and mud hitting the tank. You may want to see if Dad can help you fashion a small aluminum skid plate for under it. Looking forward to seeing where the van takes you. Cheers!
That's a very good point!! Thanks Jordan.
@@bkxc what Viair compressor kit did you go with?
this is just sick! i'm the same way, a van build seems too time taxing. thanks for this.
Haha it would definitely test limits of my patience.
Such adventure, much van. Looking forward to seeing where this thing takes you!
Thanks Evan! Hopefully back to Penticton at some point!
I'd be more than happy to arrange to have you up here again! I'll send you an email and let's see what we can do.
I just love the simplicity of it!
Me too!
Pretty cool that these guys have standardized a kit to make a quick install happen. I'm sure it's not for everyone but for those who are less handy, or in a time crunch, it looks like a good thing.
On a side note, I wouldn't let that guy who installed the roof vent slop sealant on my van. You can seal things without being sloppy.
I agree Disappointed with his sloppiness.
Isn't the excess sealant removable afterwards? Or would it be a pain to do that?
@@freija6201
It would definitely be a pain once it was cured. I built boats for 30 years and boats are obviously at greater risk where leaks are concerned. We seal things above and below the waterline without blobs of caulk over everything. Our caulk seems are smooth and fairly inconspicuous. I have not rewatched this video but if I recall correctly, the guy was just dumping the sealant over the top of the screws/seams as a "preventive measure". Totally unnecessary. If the surfaces are sealed, they are sealed.
Love your videos man, envious of your lifestyle of course...
Thank you for bringing these great MTB destinations right to my living room while snow outside.
Aside my AZ rant I'm with you all 50! states brotha!
I am super jealous! That van is going to change your life. I'm super stoked to follow the adventures.
Hell yes!
Nice congrats this is going to be a fun adventure 😁 be safe out there.
Thanks William!
This should be called: My Dad Did it All, and I did nothing.
Great Share, Short concise and very Cool. Cant wait to see finished van walk thru.
Great van build up and video. Your dad is awesome for working on this with you. So glad to hear that it is almost ready for travels and adventures. Hope to see you some day on trails.
5:50 - warranty voided. 🤣
Hahaha, warranty voided indeed!!
Duude the magnet sheet for the window is freakin genius, loved the solution
Its' sooooo cool!
@@bkxc would love to know more about the magnet window covers! only available from the shop? which shop? thanks!
Vent installers moto, no dents no dings no scratches no rust prevention, dodgy
thought the same here.
Great fan install! Just the right amount of self levelling sealant, with the amount the dark grey roof will move around in the heat, more it's better. He knows his vents!
Most definitely!!
Dude! Great video!!! And some really cool additions one might not think of.
I really like their build kit for the larger Ram vans. I just could never afford one of those vans.
Amazing how dialed they have the installs there! Pretty much a drive-thru van build for you! 🤙
Exactly!! They have got it DOWN.
Looking good,Brian! Can't wait for your new adventures in it.
Gonna be fun!
Thanks for showing a different option for outfitting a van! its nice to see someone just pony up and have someone else do it as well.
Haha yep! I'm happy to trade money for time!
ZOMFG!!! Please do a follow up video about van internals once it goes fully live!
Yep yep!
The best part was the insulation and that window magnetic cover. The whole point of building a van is to make it your own personal space and have the feeling of accomplishment at the end of the build. Plus it looks like that kit isn’t finished as they cut a lot of corners starting with the cabinet drawers.. ect
The drawer “fronts” are … ? What the actual flip to say about them ? I’m surprised they even let the “finished” job be filmed . If they put half the work dude puts into that mustache toward a more coherent build … they might have something one day .
That is awesome build and I bet the extras will not disappoint...
I hope so!
Great van, great build. Simple, efficient, no BS. safe travels.
My God, that Chris guy has a magnificent moustache
Just perfect
im on the fence about it, i dont mind it, but dont like it at the same time. lol
Mine's better ;)
@@bkxc oooooh...ok, NOW I get it dude!!
I'm excited to the next episode of your van build. That's really neat inside!
Thanks dude, I'm digging it!
I love the basics of this build. Looks like nice work!
So glad I went this route!!
Sick rig bro can't wait to get mine
Wait, there's no added USB ports? call Seth ASAP we have a USB port emergency!
Hahaha, blasphemy!!
Excellent build - so cool to see this come together and more importantly, your dream get realized! Congrats man
Most definitely, it's going to be a fun 2020 in this machine!
That was amazing!! They have obviously done that before. Can't wait for the new adventures.
They've done a lot of em!! I'm excited too!
I am soooooo in love with your dad! Best handyman alive!!!
He's the best!
Doesn't make much sense without a proper van tour🙈
He is just going to live outside his fathers driveway as he wouldn’t survive as a traveler
Why would he do that if he could make it into two videos and get twice the views? Lol
"One of my mottos is no dings, no dents, no scratches.".............While he stands on an aluminum ladder that is leaning right on the side of the van.
Christopher Bradley 😂
Yeah and no protection of the paint work with sparks flying while cutting :-(
😂
The van looks killer. Congrats! Looking forward to see more improvements to it!
Me too! one step at a time
Was really stoked to see one of these promaster builds in person yesterday. Some friends freon Colorado Springs are in town for Christmas. I love how minimalist this build is and allows for plenty of expansion room. Now you need some heat!!!
Nice! Haha yep, so afraid of the cold!
Need to get a wrap on that beast with the logo and some free magnetic logos to go on other peoples wagons !
Haha, thinkin about it!
Quick way to get it robbed, don’t ya think???
That guy is really focused on his drill bits.
Nice positive energy! Thumbs up for that. Cool looking van (from the lot). Van built... as long as you are happy with it :-)
Nice build!, i totally get why you went with it, no stress, no hasle, no time!!. I would think their Hide Away table would be the perfect add on for your needs!.
Yeah, they have quite a few different little add ons that are so cool. As I start to put the miles in I might grab the table!
🤔Watch, as a desperated father doing nearly all work, to transform his millennial son's van for him finally to move out 🙌🤭
Dont be mislead so easily. My son is a millennial. He put himself through college. He supported himself by working at everything from Taco Bell to doggie day care. He bought his first home at 29 and is now a Police Officer about to get married. The fact is, if he were building that van, Id be right there doing as much as I could to help him. There is a difference between someone who deserves the extra effort someone who doesn't. You don't know this guy's story. And if you think everyone from our generation was all work and no play, you weren't paying attention.
I thought this was actually a funny joke compared to all the other "Your dad did everything" mean comments. All I see in the mean comments is people who don't have a good relationship with their parents.
@@bkxc 😌At least, to some degree, you recognized that it is a joke, at least it was such🙄 I consider this a progress...you are also right, to some degree, again, about the fact that some people don't have a good relationship with their parents, that is true for some. But for others, that don't have one....and all they have left to do, is to see humorous situations that other, lucky ones, have.
So, if my funny comment offended your fragile self, sir... we'll, so be it.
1: Treasure what you have, this fragile moments of shared happiness, the tend to end with a blink of an eye, taken away, irreversibly vanishing in the ocean of time. Gone! And you're stuck with the memories of what no longer is.
2: Words, no matter how hateful or disrespectful, that seem to appear such to keen eye of our inner judgment, that have no relation whatsoever to our current state of things, cannot actually offend us, unless they find a way to reflect in what we are, even to the slightest degree.
Other than that: Fun project. Treasure your relations guy! Looks like I personally set you both up for this. To come to a new level of appreciation, of you having each other. 🖕🤨
@@christopherbradley5575 no one asked.
BKXC it’s awesome, Brian. Lot of us missed out on this cool opportunity. I applaud this use of free, knowledgeable labor!
Amazing spending all that money build it in a brand new van and install a hand pump faucet did they ever hear about an electric one?
you're too funny
RV electric water pumps sound like a garbage disposal
Pressure pumps are better.
I think its a great idea. He doesnt want or need one. Its his minimalist outlook.
He does seem to have spent a lot of money on other things that many vanners do without while omitting something like a water pump which seems more basic to a lot of people, HOWEVER everybody's priorities are different so I'm not going to judge. There are certainly some valid arguments against electric pumps (greater expense, noise, added complexity). For me personally, if I was going to forego an electric pump, I'd at least go with a foot powered pump rather than the hand pump (not much greater complexity or cost while leaving both hands free while using the faucet).
I love it! Sometimes it's best to go all in if you wanna follow your dreams.
When I do my build I'm going to use a cot. Simple set up and storage for more space. Saves me money and weight compared to a mattress.
I forgot you even had the van, then you go and put out the coolest van vid I’ve ever seen. 🙂
Hahahaha nice
More interested in the Mustang in the background @ 1:20 tbh

@@bkxc *drool* that's a beaut. Your dad is pretty awesome.
Great video! Thanks to you and Dad!
Great minimalist build using the electrical struts for bed supports is a good idea cheap and strong... the wool insulation looks interesting but I would need a vapor barrier to prevent condensation soaking the insulation in cold weather. Thanks for the post.
9:52 thought Goofey was there! 😉
Very Cool. Been wanting an air compressor in my Element for the same reason. What did you use?
Don't know the brand, I'll make sure I call it out the next time I do a video!
@@bkxc Yes, please, I'm interested too.
BKXC I’m interested in the compressor too. Plan on doing the same in my van
Glad I seen your channel giving me some good ideas for my motovan build coming soon
Great build. I am just starting this journey. I live in Colorado Springs and just about fell over when saw the company, Wayfarer, is in my home town. Then I saw one of the employees, Chris... I coached him in High School! (He did not have the epic moustache back then lol)
Can't to see how your loving your van in your videos 😃 watch while cooking eggs and fighting off my cat bungalow🐱
Hahaha awesome, thanks Emily
Where did you get the mounts for the roof rack?
Mobile Living in Concord
I also would love to know what brackets you used? Your roof rack looks great!
Loved this video for a lot of reasons, but I really dig that it's a Promaster video. So many Sprinter and Transit videos out there. I plan to go with a Promaster myself, so this was refreshing.
That air compressor add-on is interesting. Hadn't seen that before. Very cool.
Nice! Thanks
I have anxiously awaited this video. Those guys have the build down to a fine art. Looks great and 4 hours? I feel your excitement.
Pretty amazing!
Not enough info. It’s an ad
Just check out wayfarer Van's channel !
Bingo
How much did it cost and you didn’t even show the whole finished van!!! B
Gina Vanbeck,
Just what I was going to say...
What happen to the walkthrough and how much did it cost????? 🤔
I'm guessing they did show the entire interior.
Gina Vanbeck I WAS THINKING THE SAME! Like WAIT! Where’s the tour of the final results! And how much!!!! But nice video!
He's not done with the finish work.
wayfarervans.com/select-a-van/
That's most of what that company did.
I'm assuming his daddy will install the final systems later on
That site has some serious typos. 'If you're in need of a van to go along with this conversion we have new vans avaialble' makes me cringe.
Congrats Brian! that was a very quick turn around to get your van rollin nationwide. Off to another year of adventure!
Hell yessss!
Grew up on a Marino farm in Australia. AVG sheep will produce 5-8kg and are shorn (not "sheared") every 12 months.
I live in Switzerland, drive a Fiat Ducato. I did my entire build with Bosch Rexroth (like 8020) I love my build and have seen 2 things in your build that get me excited. •Those windows covers look great!
•Those rack mounts, my next plan is a Bosch Rexroth roof rack with 270° awning.
Can't wait to see the next installment. I also used to live in Malaga Spain and loved that series.
Thanks so much for the great content.
Nice!! Glad you're digging it.
Anything to get him Out of the house
The cabinetry doors seem chincy as hell, especially the full length one. Just seems cold and sterile with all of the sheet aluminum.
Congratulations!!! Merino wool never new and an air tank genius can’t wait for the adventures to start. Stay safe.
Hell yes! Thanks
There's little power outlet plugin air compressors that can be used for all the same things except more portable and waaaaay cheaper
Wow, that's big news mate! looking forward to seeing you out and about in it! 8)
Hell yes!
I'm with you Brian on this one. Let's just get it done. I don't have months.
Amen!!
I really want to buy a van use wayfarer... talked to Ian, seems like a solid dude! I just wanted a little more than their earlier builds, but it seems like they’re adding and improving! Might need to revisit this idea!
Yep, they're iterating and improving all the time!
Love the no nonsense build time. Get in and get out on the road!
Hell yes!
Props to your dad! We also built an 8020 roof rack. 👍🏻
Yo Brian how much did the whole build cost if you don’t mind me asking I’m stuck on a van or a truck and trailer lol
Link in the description to all their different builds!
Step 1: hire professionals to do everything
The guy is too good looking to actually work.
😂
It's going to be funny when something goes wrong on a trail in the mountains with no cell phone service and he has an air compressor but has no clue how it's built so he can't fix anything. Except for the backup camera. He knows how that's wired...maybe
That's a pretty slick set up!!!! Glad to see the BKXC-MOBILE coming along!!!!!
Hell yes! Thanks Joe
@@bkxc we started a mountain bike club here in Fort Dodge Iowa. Got a couple AWESOME trail systems!! Gonna be adding a lot more this summer!! As of now, our south trail is a little over 4 miles!! Once we get more done I'd love to have you come to Iowa and do some riding!!!!
I've watched so many van build videos and respected the time honored tradition of it taking forever but this brought hope to my cold heart in the event I could do a van build this is the only way I'd do it lol. Good video!
Hahahahaha!

No way!
Give credit where due, i.e., earn and pay the money! That is doing SOMETHING!! Lol!

Haha!
Oh love the dogs. I'll get my van done there just because of that. LOL
If I had such van I would rarely be at home 😅 Looks great, can't wait to see it in action!
Haha hell yes!
A good how not to video! didn't even see the finished van.

Their kits are just to quickly get most of it done. I'm sure his dad will install the rest & more videos to describe each step of the way to fill in his site
Not really a 4 hour build but a professional install where he did nothing and just watched smh
Cool build Brian looking forward to seeing where you go with the van now
Phil Gunn same. Subscribed to see what you plan to do with it.
Thanks so much Phil!
Honestly, it's refreshing to see a drama free van build. Congrats on your rad new set-up!
Hahaha, keeping it drama free so far!
$8795 for a 4 hour installation with no electrics at all! I'm in the wrong business.
Haha, start a youtube channel while you're at it. EASY MONEY!
It may have taken 4 hours to install, but all the components were designed and fabricated in advance. It's like buying a furniture for your house: the time it takes for delivery and placement isn't the only cost... plus, the advantage of not having the van tied up for months is enormous. If the owner is making payments on a van that can't be used/driven for 3 or 4 months, all those payments are wasted expenditures.
@@pahrn I'm not disputing that. I'm impressed that there's a market for it with such a high markup and fast install. Prefab wood and rope is very cheap to manufacture. If all parties are happy then it's a fantastic business model.
Great price in my opinion, the time and effort saved is worth more.
9 grand? I'll pass.
Time is money!
@@bkxc Believe me, I understand that concept but what you get for that 9k is minimal at best. They started off well with the insulation and walls then proceeded to install a bunch of junk. The sheet metal cabinet door is not only a joke but a safety hazard. Of course nobody expects the truth from you because they gave you a deal.
@@stuwest3653 yeah i thought the same those doors are awefull and your the only comment i could find who noticed how bad the install is! if youve got money to burn and dont want to think about its then someone is always happy to take your money!
Congrats. Now you can take your exploring to the next level!
Big time!
