As the grade cricketers ian and sam say about axar ,he throws accurate darts on the pitch and you don't know whether they are coming in or going out . His action is like picking mangoes from the tree and then his high release and then accurate darts
And he also sells potion behind stadiums

That bit of information, that the ball is spinning but still moving "in" towards the stumps broke my brain, but in the best way possible. The G.O.A.T of analysis and explanation strikes again. I'm going to start a petition for Jarrod to teach teachers how to teach so the world can be a better place! 🤣
This is one of the best breakdown/analysis I have seen and I am not just talking about cricket. Absolutely brilliant
As a data science student, I admire how much effort you put into these videos. Gathering data from different sources and cleaning them up is such a labour.
As a cricket obsessive and lover of analysis, I have to say this is the deepest and most insightful piece of cricket analysis I have ever come across. In other sports like baseball and basketball I see top quality analysis, but not as much in the cricket press. Thanks for this fantastic work!
Bro this was education. My love for the game increases manifold everytime I watch your videos. Keep going, professor!
Amazing article! The ball spinning and still moving in was a joy to observe. Loved every bit of it, including the sarcasm! How do you not have more subscribers?
Fun fact: According to the writer of the video, this video reached Rahul Dravid and led to the writer being hired for the ICT
Today i learned that a barely six foot axar Patel releases from the same height as one of the tallest players we have had in cricket, he's like the Michael Phelps of cricket. Also do you think he'll do well in Australia ?
I doubt he will play in Australia, at least until Jadeja and Ashwin retires. And I think Jadeja and Ash have at least 2 more years in them. Even after that he will need to improve his batting heaps, as he would have competition from like of Washington Sundar, who is a better batsman.
like the michael phelps of cricket? because he has an extremely high release point? lol.. try better analogies, sir... phelp is more than just an anomaly, pretty much the greatest olympian you'll ever get.
@@11hitmanDagenius no bro, because Michael Phelps had most of his growth in his upper body rather than the lower body which is rare for tall people.for most tall people they have very long legs
@@bunui2985 Screw the Phelps discussion buddy, but what you said about Axar above is a great insight. It's rare for tall spinners to do that if you look at history.
Fascinating like always. It's a treat to see you create such analysis. Most underrated cricket enthusiast.
So much of analysis targets batsmen's weaknesses and helps bowlers against specific batsmen. It's weird that this analysis might help batsmen against a specific bowler
This is unreal analysis. Favourite spinner, broken down. Keep it up
very well made video
axar is going to be a great star of indian cricket team in future. He is such a talented spinner.
One thing I noticed during trajectory actually focus on his bowling seem position while traveling its like more side spin mean normaly seem position is 45degree bend but his it is around 90 almost and seem position fubble at the time of points of pitch.. may be that's why so i think..
Waiting for batters to know about this(they probably already know via team analysts) so that Axar spins it away more often with same action lol
This is amazing analysis to understand Axar's amazing success which has been hard to understand! Also very smart or (even lucky) bowler.
These videos are so consistently good and deserve a lot more attention
My god, you are so so good at analysis, great work as always.
Top Notch Analysis..What an Informative Channel.. Kudos to you Jarrod K for putting up such quality stuff.....
Props on pronouncing Axar correctly mate!
One of those few videos which I will watch at 1x instead of the usual 1.25 or 1.5x
8:59 this can also be why Rashid Khan is so successful in t20 - batsmen do not expect his deliveries to be as fast as they are so play back expecting the ball to be flighted and slow. The playing back can bring LBW into play but playing forward can lead to being caught behind or in the outfield.
Wonderful amalysis. Must be used for coaching budding bstsman to face sla and bowlers who want to becone sla
Dr. Jarrod Kimber is it? What an analysis! Mind = Blown!
Absolute Gold Content! Love all this data!
You may have single handed shortened Axar's test career here Mr. Kimber
I sincerely Smith or Marnus never come across this.
I think you're seriously underestimating how much effort teams' analysts put into analysing the opposition, and overestimating the effort and skill it takes for batters to play ahead for what they already know is coming
More than mystery, it's judging it's line and length that's the tough one and so the problems will always be there.
If Jarrod can do this much, Professional Analysts do a lot more than this for thier teams. It all depends on whether you can execute the plan or not.
promising bowler, but still extremely early career, can only wait and watch how batsmen will tackle him
i always thought that malinga with his action cld release the ball with seam almost horizontal rather than vertical and cld theoretically get it mayb to move up and down through the air. at least get it to dip alot his yorkers seemed to dip quite a bit
I thinks his almost horizontal seam is actually putting revs on the ball with axis perpendicular to ground. That makes the ball move sideways as per aerodynamics/Magnus effect. Since he released it with fingers coming back from right to left, the ball will move into the right handlers. If it is slightly inclined, the ball will both dip and move in. So the inswinging dipping yorker of Malinga is actually a revolution generated movement in the death overs rather than the conventionally assumed reverse swing with old ball
Hey.. can you do a video on defensive T20 bowlers..
I saw himanesh piece, tried to understand it and gave up.
Thanks Jarrod for bottlefeeding us peasants so we can understand what those graphs mean. 🙏🏾
I found that off Reddit too, I thought Himanesh did a brilliant job explaining it!
@@friedrichfaust1366 he did explained it good but going back and forth with graphs and words was a bit hard.
Been waiting for this video for long, and finally, the GOAT has spoken and addressed the elephant in the room
Amazing music at the end.
@Jarrod Fantastic analysis, Can the data from IPL, ODIs and T20s be used for a similar analysis on Axar if the hawkeye data is available. The sample size for tests is too small for Axar especially considering he has played his tests on spin friendly pitches so comparison with data from other pitches maybe misleading.
I believe a comparison based on his ODI and T20 performance would be far more conclusive and compelling
but balls are completely different ryt
My only argument with what you've said is that Scar has never really been predominantly a white ball bowlers. He's played plenty of white ball cricket, but most of his development and early success has been from playing 4 day first class cricket for Central Districts.
So, the thing is Axar's balls that seem to not spin spin less than they should spin but spin enough to not go down leg but don't spin enough to hit the bat.
Lol brainblast that for a bit.. Great Video dude... Just kudos.
Excellent analysis
He is very good with flighting the ball. Most of the batsman get stuck in the loop. It's very beautiful to watch him bowl especially to English batsman 😂
Brilliant breakdown
I would like to see him bowl outside of Asian. England, South Africa, West indies, Australia, New Zealand
I haven't seen Patel yet but this analysis makes me think a bit of a high armed Derek Underwood
Would really appreciate it ,if you make a video on Liton das who’s currently on the rise.
Similar style employed by Washington with new ball. Ball spin or slide but never go past outside edge.
Great analysis 👌
Amazing. As the saying goes: "Data changes everything"
Samaz me kuch nhi aaya parr sunn k accha laga 😂
Does Axar Knows he doing soo much 😂😂😂
Big Fan !
Love your work
Up swing used mostly in Tennis and ping pong. Axar deceives batsmen with that trajectory flat but more hang time.
Playing in absolute sandmine has helped him a lot. Let's see how he does in less spinner friendly pitches.
He will do worse. Case closed.
He will do closed. case worse

@@JarrodKimberYT Giga chad 😂👌
The same sandmine where Indian batters score above 300 regularly! So the problem is not the pitch but the lack of talent among the visitors.

Where’d you get/find the images at 6:37
Himanish Ganjoo's blog.
Just brilliant JK. Thanks.
What song is it the one which clicks
I still remember one KXIP match from IPL 2014 where every other KXIP bowler went for over 10-11 runs an over. And then there was Axar, going at an economy of 5. I knew at that moment that this guy was something special.
He is like bumrah in spinning
Looking at the stats comparison here you’d have to think this approach would be fruitful for Leach.
Brilliant!
Man, you should be drafted as a part of coaching team. Your Analysis is no less than an Engineering problem solved. This is a "Moneyball" kinda stat analysis.
Jarrod, ravi jadeja is similar to axar in some ways. Please do a comparison between the two. Axar bowls more like how jadeja bowled at the start of his career - fast, flat, revs on ball but barely spinning, drift but he has learnt to flight the ball more and rely less on the ball that comes in resulting in more dismissals where ball actually turns enough to hit the off stump after pitching on middle. What's interesting to note here is that since these changes jadeja has become better at red ball cricket and noticeably worse at white ball cricket. Is jadeja the guy axar should emulate in terms of his growth?
Comparison between axar, jadeja and paul harris would be cool.
I think major diffrence will be the release point and how that changes the style like axar will not be wanting ball to bounce more but jadeja will
Axar bowling better
Throwing a tangent to your ques, you can see the effort in Jadeja’s action and body rotation which is directly proportional to his speeds. In case of Axar he almost ambles up and release the ball at such pace. Again might have to do something with the high linear velocity imparted by the higher angular momentum of his longer than normal arms.
axar patel , the einstein of spin bowling ?
I wonder if axar himself knows thismuch
Not sure he's done as much red line work as me or real science like Himanish
top class content
How do you get amazing lines to say at the end??? Like how?? Do you specifically write a line and keep it to the end??
Can you compare axar vs agar
I am always curious about this, but what is the BGM that you use in your videos?
Think he's going to be easier to play in red soil wickets than black/brown soil wickets eventhough he has the height
There is not much any right hander on the planet could do .when the ball is spinning and it is axar bowling with that bounce . You don't know if it is coming in or spinning away
mayb bat further to legside?
@@jason78981 and miss it and get bowled between the gap
Exactly, it's too difficult. It's like making a plan to bat against McGrath.
Sound is low 🔅
🙌💯
That bit that the bowl is spinning but still moving "in" towards the stumps is basically saying he is spinning the ball but not that much. Nothing new when you consider faster spinners who bowl side spinners don't give the ball time to grip and it slides on with little turn which mainly comes from subcontinent turning wickets. I think we have to realise also is that England don't play spin well in general and with a poor squad on tour this does not prove that Axar is anything special (yet).
What song is this 13:19
5:01 pragyan Ojha??
All those English fans crying about rank turners in India should watch this video on repeat, 5 times a day, until their baters get better at playing spin.
lol what a stupid comment, honestly. you seem to be still upset about some random opinions no one will remember or care for
This video won india the world cup
Crawley was playing for the one which spun but was nowhere near the LBW.
If one was to play the line that was the LBW just specifically for Axar, does the outside edge then come into play? He doesn’t turn it that much
It did spin. Two stumps worth. Which is us a lot.

So much data , data ,data and data
Error 404 not found
I always found it weird why a left-arm finger spinner was called "slow left arm orthodox"! Particularly why the right-hand equivalent is called " right arm outbreak"! Why can't they just call a finger-spinner a finger spinner and a wrist spinner a wrist spinner, simple!
Wait till he bowls on a flat pitch. All these stats will flatten out
On a flat pitch most bowlers become useless.
So does anyone even akhtar was pathetic in flat wickets 😂
So what is the best way to play him? Get forward and play straight? Because he's coming from wide the more forward you get the more outside the line the impact point? Maybe take guard on off stump? He's not Warne, he can't bowl you round your legs with that angle. Clearly just thrashing at him doesn't work.

Just asking can a captain make a bowler stats better than his ability ? I believe yes . That's why stats are useless. Their skill will determine how good they are .reply jarrod kimber
