I'm from Youngstown Ohio, and rode the carousel when I was a kid. This year I contacted Jane and asked if my wife and I could see the carousel. Not only did we see it, we got to relive our childhood by riding it. Thank you Jane, it meant the world to us. Also, it made a great wedding anniversary surprise for my wife, who worked at Idora Park when she was a kid. Seth
Thank you Jane for restoring a childhood memory of mine! I am from Youngstown, OH. (still here) and use to ride this carousel all the time when I was a child at Idora Park!! I hope to be able to get to NYC and see it one more time before I get to too old, but sadly I cannot ride it beings that I'm in a wheelchair now (paralyzed since age 17). :-( However, I would be ecstatic just to have it in front of me so that I can close my eyes & relive a bit of my AMAZING childhood! Once again, "Thank You Jane Walentas!"
@NativePrairieWolf I think it's hard to say exactly how much it cost to restore it as a lot of the goods and services were donated. Even the storage for all those years was free. If you totaled up all of the stuff and labor she got for free (she didn't take a dime and did most of the restoration work) it would probably be at least 15 million.

I've been on this carousel myself. I must say, it is a genuine work of art-- and fun! Bravo, Jane!
Thanks, Jane, for all your hard work in preserving this great piece of amusement park history. Truly a labor of love!
