As a huge Mondonville fan, I’ve already heard this one, but huge thanks as always EV for compiling all the movements into one video!

Though I really have to say that the Christophe Coin recording of this work is so so so much better. Far more dramatic+light and airy sounding, making this sound laboured in comparison, in addition to the continuo being an organ, which is the 'correct' continuo instrument for French Baroque sacred music, as opposed to the harpsichord in this video.

    Ps 18
02 Les cieux proclament la gloire de Dieu, le firmament raconte l'ouvrage de ses mains.
03 Le jour au jour en livre le récit et la nuit à la nuit en donne connaissance.
    04 Pas de paroles dans ce récit, pas de voix qui s'entende;

You just have to look at Charles Jenner’s comment… its psalm 18 verses 2-7

I take it you know your Haydn - "The heavens are telling the glory of God, and the firmament showeth his handywork..."

@@paulsmith5752 absolutely! I've sung that chorus, truly some astonishingly good fugal work in the second half! had no idea those were the same words as coeli enarrant though! thanks paul!

    ecco le parole:
    Mundi Rector de Caelo micanti
    Audi preces, et suscipe vota
Quae de corde prò te dimicanti
    Sunt pietatis in sinu devota.
    In Juditha tuae legi dicata
    Flammas dulcis tui amoris accende
    Feritatis sic hostis domata
    In Bethuliae spem pacis intende.
    Redi, redi iam Victrix pugnando
    In cilicio in prece revive
    De Holoferne sic hodie triumphando
    Pia Juditha per saecula vive.
