Robert DeNiro is the quintessential Martin Scorsese actor.
Their extensive record of collaboration spans more than 50 years and 11 films.
Noteworthy movie collaborations include: Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Good Fellas and The Irishman.
More than half of their collaborations resulted in nominations for academy awards (with DeNiro receiving a Best Actor award for his performance in Raging Bull).
When Leonardo DiCaprio deliberately decided to reshape his acting career, he chose to collaborate with one of the best - Scorsese.
Their collaboration has been successful and emphasises great aspects of Scorsese's later career.
Their work together spans a period of 20 years and 7 films.
Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed and The Wolf of Wall Street have been memorable success stories for DiCaprio and Scorsese.
As mentioned, my vote goes to DeNiro who represents the best of the great director's earlier career (and some of his more recent works too).
DiCaprio is not to be overlooked but he decided to connect with the great master when Scorsese was a sure thing.
DeNiro and Scorsese helped shape and develop each other's greatness.
DiCaprio (although a VERY good actor) chose to bask in the established spotlight of Scorsese.
DiCaprio has of course also helped enable Scorsese to continue his impressive catalogue of work.

In hoping not to decide between De Niro and DiCaprio, the original quintessential Martin Scorsese actor is Harvey Keitel. I really felt he would’ve been the real Scorsese muse after seeing him in Mean Streets (and he also starred in Scorsese’s debut Who’s Knocking at My Door?). I wouldn’t be able to give you a PowerPoint presentation on why I chose Harvey Keitel as my answer but he definitely gave that vibe of an actor you would associate in Scorsese films, regardless of collaboration numbers or lead roles.
I look forward to hearing your reviews on Infernal Affairs Part Two though. I’m actually surprised that each of you (besides guest host Liam) have only seen it once, and still decided that it’s more superior than the original 💀
