"Sometimes i just exist and weird things happen." I have never related to someome on youtube harder.
Jesse with this new mic feels like he's getting one step closer to dabbling in some booktube ASMR
Quote of the Day: “I go out of my way to read books that mess me up.”
honestly so iconic and relatable
Good quote 👏🏻😊
I just got back into watching your videos and I don't know why I stopped! I am so glad to be back as I absolutely love your energy and your passion for books! I've been watching videos of yours that I haven't watched yet and rewatching other ones. Also, I would love to see more book tags! Keep being awesome, Jesse!
Book tags are some of my favorite videos. I always have to watch old ones because ppl don’t make them a lot now.
Sometimes I just exist and weird things happen.*😅 I feel that one. I like tags! Probably because I wasn’t around as much when they were actually popular. So thanks for keeping them alive!
I’ve been watching you since I was about 12 and you were the one who encouraged me to read geekerella, now I’m just realising its a trilogy?! Thank you! Aha I can’t wait to start them :)
a highly underrated contemporary book with mental health rep is the weight of our sky by Hanna Alkaf! It is set in 1969 Malaysia and it is truly unforgettable and full of heart.
Underhyped YA series: Bloody Jack by L.A. Meyer. Pirates, British Navy, World Traveling, Schinanigans, Star Crossed Lovers, Subtle Queer Rep. Also the first book in the series does this awesome writing where when you start reading the mc is illiterate and it reads as such (misspellings/shortened words/etc) but is still understandable and as she gains more experience and becomes literate the writing style changes with her. It also ages the books with the reader, starting around upper middle grade/lower ya and going to older ya by the end. Also, it is a completed series, always a plus.
Oh my god I loooooved Bloody Jack as a preteen, it's a series ?? I only ever read book 1 !
@@jeannedz29 Yes! It's a 12 book series so lots of adventure.
I LOVE THAT BLUE SHIRT OMG THE FLORAL PRINT IS SO PRETTY
I was in Barnes & Noble the other day and there was a copy of Little Women in that exact print but tan instead of blue. So now I feel like he needs to read that copy and he can match the book perfectly. Maybe a themed video where the clothes match the book cover? 😂
@@chelsey8737 OMG THIS IS A PERFECT IDEA

The Love Con was everything I wanted in a book but also so much more. Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes and I love the best friends and the fact that, despite one person being really rude and disrespectful, no one really fell into the trap and I loved that!
As someone who enjoys kpop and underrated authors, I think you should check out Marureen Goo's books. She has become an autobuy author for me and she writes about books involving Korean American characters and I love it! I also suggest Flip the Script by Lyla Lee for you, I think you would enjoy that also!
I am so out of the loop I don't know what is hyped and what is not anymore. But I did just finish book 3 of The Raven Cycle and it WAS GREAT!
Great job on this video Jesse. You made me smile! I hope YOUR day is bright!
I love videos like this. Like it's nice seeing more than one person recommend a book. It makes me feel better about picking it up in the aspect that it feels like I'm more likely to read it. And if we are all honest with ourselves, a readers curse is the every growing TBR that gets grows faster than we can read.
On the other hand, at times it does get old seeing the same books over again. There are people on TikTok I almsot want to start skipping at this point because I just constantly see them talk about the same few books so much. So now we can give someone else some spot light. Books like Dr. Bird I likely never would have heard of, but it sounds fantastic. Like going towards the top of my TBR fantastic.
And while we don't need more on our TBR... we also do. It's an addiction. It's exciting. So now I get it. Now I have a new book for the already too long TBR. And it makes me happy.
Yes agreed 👍🏻. I like seeing books that aren't the most popular ever sometimes 😊
Yes! Can't wait to read kaleidoscope. Just met the author a couple weeks ago 😁
I’ve had storm crow on my TBR FOR EVER
Well, my TBR just got longer!
I'm looking to expand my romance section, and The Love Con is checking all the boxes.
A series I think is criminally underrated is the Jig the Goblin series by Jim C. Hines. A great combination of DnD-esque questing, humour, and the most reluctant hero you will ever find!
Lol 😆. That's how it goes sometimes 😉. Enjoy. By tbr list is long too 😅
PLEASEE PLEASE please do more of these videos these are like the best
Thanks for all the fun videos, Jesse! I always enjoy watching your videos!
Each time someone mentions a "popular author" I am like: never hear of them.
Kingdom keepers by ridley Pearson it about what happens at the magic Kingdom after the Park close the gates are locked and the lights are off
I ended up stopping the series. I guess I just wanted something new. But maybe I'll continue one day 😊
I love your choatic, I WILL SAY ANYTHING THAT COMES TO MIND, but also very calm vibes😊 also hyped to watch your videos!
Love this video! Always great to hear about the books that aren't discussed as much as they deserve :).
Will
Thanks for all the fun videos Jesse! I just read The Love Con after seeing this video, and I really enjoyed it!!
omg there is a line in the Golden Boys sequel that's a callback to one of the best lines in the original and it KILLED ME DEAD. cannot wait for your thoughts on Afterglow!!
ITS SO GOOD! I don't think I've ever been so excited for a book sequel before and the moment it released I frantically checked my library and placed the first hold. If you haven't listened to the audiobooks, I HIGHLY recommend. The narrators are a full on cast and they're all amazing
okay, i love the nerdy book recs :3 they went straight to my wishlist!
my personal favorite question was the one about an underrated book by a popular author, bc my mind immediately came up with the underland chronicles by suzanne collins. i feel like most ppl only know that she wrote the hunger games, which is a shame, bc the underland chronicles are amazing as well! (middle grade, pretty dark in tone, great storytelling in my opinion)
YEEEEESSS! The underland chronicles are amazing! I first read the hunger games trilogy and wanted to read more from suzanne collins and I am so glad that I found the underland chronicles. I would even go so far as to say that I found them even more enjoyable than the hunger games bcause I loved the idea of thinking talking animals so much. And how dark the books got sometimes^^
@@ailuharas3667 yey, someone else who likes them!! for me it was the other way around: i read them first and then the hunger games and realized a while later that they were written by the same person (i didn't care about authors back then). and it made so much sense to me!! i also feel like the underland chronicles are only allowed to be middle grade, bc a lot of the horrible things don't happen to humans? (still a lot of horrible things happening to humans though.) anyways, i got a lot of love for both series, but if i had to choose, i'd probably also choose the underland chronicles.
The amount of blue in this video >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
A criminally underrated author is Martin Millar aka Martin Scott, author of "The Good Fairies of New York," the Kalix the Werewolf series, the Thraxas series, etc.
This is a fun one! 💕
Thankyou for recommending The Love Con..i loved that book❤❤
Princess And the Fangirl by Ashley Poston is my favorite! 👸
I love the microphone dude! 🎤
Also, I am more eager to read Suzanne Park's books. 📚
One of my favourite books is veery underrated (169 ratings on goodreads) and self-published: The Girl Who Dated Herself by Susannah Shakespeare
Interesting title 😊😅
I am binge-watching your videos! You are so adorable and i looove your videos. I need a person like you in my life❤❤❤
thank you so much 🫶
My Recommendation -
Lady Doctors: The Untold Stories of India's First Women in Medicine by Kavitha Rao. There’s a lot of talk about healthcare and it’s interesting to know histories that are otherwise not told or are not prioritised.
11:20 I keep putting off picking up this book called The Atlantis Gene but I know the day I do, I’ll surely love it 🥹
oooooo love con!!! i am LOOKING !
Ooooh I love this, I have been craving underhyped/more niche books! Here are mine hehe:
An underhyped book: Briardark by S.A. Harian (warning: horror; folk and cosmic horror)
A criminally underrated author: Zen Cho
A book by a popular author that you feel is underrated: Some Kind of Happiness by Claire Legrand
A book on your TBR that you feel is underrated: Spear by Nicola Griffith
A character that you feel is under appreciated: omg I don't know 😂
A book that you feel deserves more love that is a part of [boys' love manga]: Our Not-So-Lonely Planet Travel Guide
An underrated book based off a popular book: Fake Dates and Mooncakes if you like Always the Almost, Heartstopper
Summer is my Least favorite season overall, But I can't wait to dive into my Summer TBR. Will definitely read The Golden Boys soon!
I am the messenger, I feel like everyone’s read or at least heard of the book thief but I am The messenger is sooo good imo
“I am from Missouri so HEEHAW” PLS YOU’RE EFFORTLESSLY HILARIOUS
I feel like the Magnus Chase triology is so underhyped! Someone told me they thought it was the worst of his works and I'm so glad I read it anyway because I adored it
So nice to see you post videos in quick succession. Also, you look cute as always.
Ahhhh I LOVE Phil Stamper sooo much and the Golden Boys duo is my absolute favorite! It might be my favorite YA series ever. The sequel Afterglow is a fantastic continuation and ending and i highly highly recommend!! The narration is a full on cast and they are among the best Ive ever heard
One book series that is underhyped and awesome, with twists, romance, well-written characters, and so much more, is "The Lorien Legacies Series," 7 books, plus Novellas and the Spin-off series. I'd recommend it for the time that you want to read a little Sci-Fi Fantasy, and want your soul to hurt, because some of the deaths hit hard for both the characters, and the readers. And the action, once it starts, you can't stop. But when it does stop, you may need a second to process wtf just happened, and you just gotta go back in, whether you're ready or not. And the twists and the "what just happened?" Will really make you question EVERYTHING. Highly recommend. Plus, who wouldn't want powers bestowed upon you from another planet?😁
I feel like you should just read books or do a random podcast that you dont have to think about too hard. I find your voice so calming and could listen for a loooong time!
My underrated book series is The Mistmantle Chronicles by M.I. McAllister. I love it so much!
A book I wish got more love is "See You At Harry’s "
3:26 my underdog book friends RISE!
OOOOOH SLAY
I love your country accent. It’s very endearing.

underrated book about death and grief that's also really funny and weird and gripping with great characters, hints of magical realism, interlocking timelines - jellicoe road by melina marchetta
SHAKE THAT COFFEE THAT COFFEE COFFEE (do my KPOP stans get this?)
Podcast Bros exist so don’t worry about making the microphone your entire personality. In your case, you make sense are less hateful.
Oi! O seu video me foi recomendado pelo RUclips e já quero responder também! Com certeza vou gravar!
18:04 I’ve heard Mara from BooksLikeWhoa talk about it. Someone did hear about it.
FIREBORNE
Imagine living in Germany (or Austria, Switzerland) and paying the exact same price for a book everywhere... Great and terrible at the very same time 😅
Best friends to lovers, I see🤔
Give me a week, you'll have my answers to this book tag video from me!
I would like this to come off as nicely as possible, there is absolutely no hate meant from this, I am not trying to be mean.
Your new microphone is very nice. I can not watch your videos with headphones anymore with how breathy your audio is from how close you’re holding it. They style of microphone is not meant to be used so close to your mouth. If you really want to hold it I would recommend a wand style that is omnidirectional instead of dynamic.
I love your videos and I know new equipment sometimes just takes some practice and playing around. Again all said with respect and care.
No offense taken! ...I do have videos already filmed where I use the mic though so.. sorry! I'll try and figure out a better method.
Underhyped book I think deserves more love: How to Stop Time by Matt Haig 🥹
