  • One of my favourite songs, but unfortunately one where the band somehow never reached their peak in performing it. This rendition is quite good and the audio was decent as well.
There is one version on here that claims to be from Enschede, but is from Landgraaf in reality.
    Sound remastered.

one of the most vocally demanding songs for Jon. Great performance.

It's a shame this song wasn't so good live as it is on the record. It's my favourite song from These Days and it's a big shame it got dropped after 1996. It would've been interesting to see Jon attempt it in 2000/2001.

I think it wouldn't have been good. Even though there were some good Always, These Days, Something To Believe In performances in that era, Jon had to strain his vocal chords much more and that song would've killed him. It's a shame they didn't do it in mid-late 1995 when his voice was much stronger and that thin.
The only other occasion where I think it might've been good was in Europe 2008 when he was on an absolute high vocally and doing most songs quite easily. He could've delivered there.

hAnD90 Europe 2008 might have been interesting, I don't think it would've sounded good because even though his signing technique was correct his nasal vocals would have really killed the very high chorus.

Yeah and the pronounciation would've been horrible as well I guess :D
However, this is the only post-2000 period where I feel that he might've at least been able to hit those notes properly.

@@hAnD90 that song couldn have been performed on 2008-2011 era when he able to sing something to believe and blood money. Mentioned songs were same high to sing and he reached them. Anyway I understand Jon decided not to play it after These days tour. Live performances are horrible. So many instrumental and vocal fails. Sometimes you are able to play more difficult song and for some reason you have a problem with well trained one.

Great performance. Indeed a song that rarely is seen and heard on the net.

i really hate how they did the high notes before the solo, it looses tension

    • @hAnD90
      @hAnD90  6 лет назад +1

I honestly don't get that either. The great crescendo from the album is lost with that and considering that the high notes were very hard for him even back then, it's even more mind-boggling why they did more than necessary.

hAnD90 its really sad how they never made a great performance of this song, yokohama was ok, but not good. Also sad how they never performed "If That's What It Takes" or "Hearts Breaking Even" which is one of the most complete lyrics they've written

I so agree about those two songs! A shame, really.

Kon Chauvi, a former cover band that was even highly respected by Bon Jovi ("they play us better than we do"), played Hearts Breaking Even and there is a SBD release of that. Not the original, but very good:

Thanks man, sounds terrific live! I remember Jon saying he couldn't wait to perform it live but he never did :/

By the way...Is this half tone lower than original? Or?
