    I thought the sky was the limit for him. Looked like a million bucks, could cut a promo, and was believable as a tough guy. Easy fan favorite.

      I think Vince had something to do with his accident if you ask me... its very suspicious that top guys in top territories all of sudden stated having accidents and over doses.... That was all Vince and his Freemasonry hit team

    Such a fantastic interview with Magnum! I recall Magnum's NWA days from day 1 as here in Philly, JCP first started airing in late 1984 and Magnum came in at the beginning of 1985 via a cool vignette riding a motorcycle. The camera loved him: Magnum had great ring presence, great ring psychology and super convincing interviews.

    Tremendous interview with one of it's greatest stars. You learn more about wrestling as a business in an hour, simply amazing. Terry Allen has handled his life after a horrific accident with self determination and dignify as can be imagined.

    I'm real happy to hear TA name drop Ricky and Robert.. Ricky still wrestles to this day with his son...back in the Indies to ride his life out!
    I never knew Andre gave him his name..Ive watched matches with Terry and Andre in 3 man tags wrestling in Mid South Championship for Bill Watts... wrestling under Terry Allen... As an a enhancement talent...He had the look,the body..who remembers the Video Crockett put out with Magnum out with 2 ladies...dancing, making out! Not only did he put asses in the seats, he brought the finer ladies asses out to the matches... Man, what a ride for a short career...thank you for the post and the great trip back into the best generation wrestling ever had!

    This was a great thank you so much i really enjoyed watching this interview with Magnum he was awesome that error was fun to watch I still go back and watch Magnum VS Tully or Rick or the tag team matches with Dusty and Magnum vs The horseman that was the Golden era i go back and watch the different times in wrestling and that error between the talent and story lines is my favorite

    I have great respect and admiration for Magnum T.A. I was fortunate enough to watch his run as North American Heavyweight Champion in Mid-South and then his JPC run up until his accident. Magnum was a baby face with a mean streak and could get nasty and violent with the best of them. My favorite wrestler is Tully Blanchard, and the bloody feud they had all over the country over the NWA US Heavyweight Belt was the Best of 1985, hands down! Their promos were A+ and their matches never disappointed. Those two wanted to be the best at what they did and it showed bigtime!
    Magnum is one helluva guy, and he came out the other end a World Champ in my book.

      @@chrischar9428 we can agree to disagree. Looking back now, they may not be at a caliber of Flair, Dusty, Triple H, etc. But they were better then okay. I don’t think Magnum was in the business for more than 6-8 years when he went to JCP.

    When I think wrestling, I think Magnum TA and this era of wrestling. It wasn’t glitzy, a soap opera or any of the things you see today. They actually wrestled, using wrestling moves and techniques. And Magnum was very well rounded in his techniques, and could slap a drop kick on an opponent in the blink of an eye.

    Everyone talks about Mick Foley and The Undertaker in "Hell in a Cell!" This is the match that truly defines "Hell in a Cell!" I remember the I quit match. Tully Blanchard vs Magnum T.A. was the first true "Hell in a Cell" as a child I cried when my hero got injured and I held hope to see Magnum T A come back, your matches with Kamala, Abdullah the Butcher were amazing however in my eyes you were truly in the 1st "HELL IN A CELL" Always a fan

    Starrcade1985 I Quit Cage Match:Tully Blanchard vs Magnum TA not 1986 but his fued with Tully Blanchard continue in 1986 . Magnum TA never made it to Starrcade 1986 because of car accident. But could have wrestle Ric Flair at Starrcade 1988 or 1989 to win title.

  • @GeorgeLacy-qz3yu
    @GeorgeLacy-qz3yu Год назад +1

    Had Magnum not been in the accident, then the NWA would not have gone in the direction that it went. Buying the UWF, etc. never would have happened, Nikita stays a heel, Barry Windham goes in a different direction, and so on.
    But because of the accident, Dusty and others have to scramble, and make the sort of hasty judgments that led to the NWA becoming WCW and then going away. In effect, Magnum's accident was the first domino that toppled and eventually led to WCW's demise. It's not his fault, of course, but it certainly made for crisis booking, which wasn't helpful at all.

  • @Daoloth
    @Daoloth Год назад +1

    Really Great to see as he mostly was already injured before getting the push. Dusty Rhodes Booking Along with Finishes are why WWF is only Wrestling Company that exists. Did not work at all especially in the North or East. I knew it was not real when Hawk didn't crush Ric Flair. Lex Luger the Only Horsemen I ever believed. Hogan was a muscular guy while obese guys like Dusty or scrubs would have the title. Sting the time limit draw on Clash of Champs. Road Warriors were like the top draw. I got C5 thru C7 Neck Fusion from getting rear ended. I was always a fan of NWA but Eastern Championship Wrestling booked better eventually becoming Extreme. You Invest Time only to get Shafted Over and Over ;). Fans Left and Wrestlers. All builds for PPVs.

    One of the sadder "what if?" stories but at least he was spared Duane Allman's fate. PS Buzz Sawyer ripped off other wrestlers, was a big-time time druggie, purposely worked stiff with many (including Jim Cornette) wrestlers, and died in his early 30s of a drug overdose. Frankly from what I have read, no great loss.
