Awesome video! I don’t know if it just me or the name “kizami Zuki” appears when you’re actually talking about Gyaku Zuki, and then it stays there until you actually finish explaining Kizami Zuki. But that’s only a little detail because the video was very interesting and helpful. Great work!
@@KarateDojowaKu , what Efren MT means is that the "Kizami Zuki" banner is on either for the Gyaky and Kizami explainations. I thing you need to re-edit this part of the video.
Thanks for the explanaition, please check for a small formal erropr: during gyauku zuki the signs and names were referring to Oi zuki only. As fro th contents, mentioning the second group of hits, uchis , referred to as strikes could have been more instructional mainly by you pointing out the differences in performance and applications to surfaces. Best regards, Paul, 68, retired instructor of Karate.
I do shotokan and my coach tells me that using punches, hand strikes and other hand techniques more is much more effective than kicks in Shotokan style fighting, and tells me to go for kyokushin if i want to learn kicks better.
Yes. In Goju Ryu, when we say "Age Zuki", we refer to an uppercut, not the rising straight punch shown here, which is a technique found in Shotokan kata. There is also Ura Zuki (short body punch/liver shot, back of the hand facing down), Mawashi Zuki (hook) and Furi Uchi (overhand/long inverted hook).
Can you go through uses and applications for all of these punches please? It will be useful to have another person's input on the uses. Thank you if you decide to do this and if you already did but I haven't seen.
Kizami zuki is like yon Tsuki... And in my school your morote zuki we call yama zuki as well as the one you depicted as yama zuki... And morote zuki is both fists parallel to each other palms facing down... Like in kata Saifa... And we use ura zuki like an upper cut... As done in seipai kata

Sensei, how have you been? I have been trying to learn Japanese language using karate and I found out your channel last week and I have been using to get deep knowledge on the matter. I have a question: is age zuki written 拳げ突き or 上げ突き? Before this video I could swear the right form is the latter... However I'm not sure anymore... After all, Japanese language is not similar to english. Thank you and congrats for the channel.
@@KarateDojowaKu You just gave me an answer now. I got a sensei that called "hook punch" mawashi zuki. So, when i saw you referring to it as "Kagi zuki" i got pretty confused.
Thank you! Also, sensei, are you familiar with this 野球拳 “baseball punch”, where the fist is thrown out just like in a baseball pitch? I heard about this from a karateka in Hong Kong but cannot find more information elsewhere.
Great tutorial, sensei! It can be very cool to have in your video some short video examples for those punches in katas of some guys on compatitions. Some shortcuts. You explain punch or stance and than show some short video.

Kyokushin punches are mainly executed HARD, REALLY HARD!
Is “Kizami zuki” the same as “Tobikomi zuki”? I practice Wado Ryu and we learn our jab punch as “Tobikomi zuki”.
It's probably the same, but there can be slight differences in the underlying techniques!
Please explain difference between morote zuki vs awase zuki ,I'm in confusion
Could you do a detailed tutorial on gyaku tsuki?

What does that stand for exactly? I've never heard of it

Is there a Japanese name for Uppercut? Round punch? Clinch? Power slap? Power shove?
Isn't there another one on the third kata, when you defend with your elbow (turning your body) and then hit with the back of the hand?
Mawashi empi or tetsui Zuki?
He was only talking about punches not elbow strikes or any other strikes
what's the difference between choku zuki and ren kuzi???
Is there a mawashi zuki, long reach hook in shotokan?
Thanks for the bit of culture ;)

Thanks! Uppercut in Karate?
Obviously
Yes! I think some people call that Age Zuki.
Is KIMURA SHUKOKAI is practic ed in tokyo

Gaku zuki not showing your videos displayed
