I feel like one really good measure for whether a "dark lyrics" song is more 25ji or WxS is a concept that a lot of jp proseka twitter users seem to mention: "bright darkness" (明るい闇) They say that 25ji is "darkness" but that WxS is "bright darkness" and I think what they mean is like 25ji doesn't pretend, even for a second, that it's not depressing or sad or whathaveyou The concept of masking is one that applies to 25ji but it doesn't really come up in their _music_ I feel. A song like, say, Kyu-kurarin, while most certainly a dark song, does its absolute damnedest to not come off that way - even with the crying. Like the character that song was inspired by, it keeps the act up the whole way until the very end. I wouldn't assign such a song to 25ji. But maybe that's just my subjective take 🤷♀️
