I retired at 46 back in 2006/7. Regret it to be fair. Too young. Bored now. Financially, GBP lost half but still get by OK.on 85-90,000 Bt month. Bought house car etc cash back in 2007. Having 2 kids during retirement wasn't the best move. You never know what the future holds. Especially with a Thai girl 20 years younger. Be careful!!!
My friend retired there in 2014 at 47 years old from the USA, got married, started a family, house, land. Still not working, living off of investments rentals in the states.
Wow just what I needed ,I am thinking of retiring in thailand need to take more of a look around ,been to samui several times love it there ,been krabi but didnt really have much time , also bangkok ,cna you put me onto anyone for advice , thank you ,will now follow your videos fab work keep it up , thank you ,
You know Richie, you and Maybelle are the perfect poster couple to show everyone that you can have a wonderful life in Thailand. It was back in the early 70's that I went to Thailand and fell in love with it. I have been looking at returning and hope that I can convince my wife to head over there when she retires I have already retired. It is so beautiful there and compared to California it would be so cheap to live there. The two of you seem so happy and I have watched you from the beginning when you first came there to meet Maybelle to when you proposed to her it was wonderful. To watch you both jump into the "Maybelle's Coffee Garden" to see what you have done with it. It looks amazing and it looks like a place to just come and enjoy and relax. Keep it up and we wish y'all the best and keep Maybelle smiling she lights up this Vlog. It takes two. Stay happy and safe. Hope you get the tickets for Justin B.
So lovely meeting you both when we came to Phuket. Your hard work has paid off. The vibe at your establishment is great and we loved the food. My husband and myself will be back very soon.🍾🙏
A Good interview and good content with retiree’s Ritchie, just found your channel, you have a lovely wife, I am looking to retire North Thailand in the next few years, Your doing a Great Job, Love the Coffee House , 🙏🙏🙏🌅
u would need atleast 200 k usd to retire at 50 in thailand lets say on the safe side 2k a month 120k 10 years then u got another 5 years before u get a pension then your funds are at 0 , seens risky imo, i think semi retired is the best way to not get broke 6 month in thailand and 6 month working
Hello Richie & Maybelle, I like what you guys do. I would definitely like to connect with you when I visit Thailand. You are very knowledgeable about where to stay and visit. Keep up the excellent job!!! Best wishes from USA 🇺🇸
I married a Thai- 20 years this year and we have me on a Marriage Visa, a lot of paperwork once a year , but not so bad, we own the house, own the Car , only bills monthly cel internet , electric PEA, water , Health Insurance Car insurance , we could live no problem on my SS pension, but we live Large . Have built an RV Truck Camper by Classic Car and Caravan Factory , maybe next week we get delivery . So Far I have not had to shovel any snow so very big plus, COVID has screwed up travel a bit , but over all feel safe . Love it here, wish more scooter drivers would wear helmets , go to gym 5-6 days a week , so far we have had no problems here,,
Phuket is a little high for retirement unless you have a steady income. Phuket also gets a lot of interest from people that can afford it. Richie looks like your videos on Patong get higher views, that appeals to a wider audience. 😉
Hi Richie Maybelle amazing job you have done with your coffee shop . I have only been once but I am sure I will be a regular customer next time I am Phuket . Me and my friend came for a coffee in December and you spoke to us . My friend has been living in Phuket since 95 in Patong on Nanai he actually had the 1st bar on Nanai back in the day the offshore guys . The atmosphere and the tranquillity especially with the waterfall just the silence is unexplainable . I could just sit in your coffee shop for a week it's that peaceful and just lovely to sit there . Great job Richie and Maybelle xxx
Very good video Richie that gives people a great insight of retirement visas long-term stays and things like that you should keep this going once a week like you’re doing today well done mate great achievement love everything you guys day see you in September.
Its funny, I started watching videos on Thailand as a friend of mine out of the blue a month ago told me he has moved there. He got divorced a year ago and as he put it, he refused to just keep working (he is 59) just because his wife got half of everything, trying to build his wealth back up. After investigating the matter it came down to going to Mexico or Thailand. Lets just say Thailand has more to offer and even a cheaper price. His budget is 6K US per month and he said in an email to me he is having the time of his life. He said he is pressed to spend 2/3rds of that.
Hi Richie, you forgot to put a link to the RUclips channel of Ernest in the description. Could you share that one please? I love to see how other RUclipsrs got started and motivated them and stuff like that.
Hi Chris, my channel is not yet live. I'm currently putting together content so that I'll have 6-8 weeks worth of videos to publish while I continue creating more in the background. This way I'm able to publish regularly.

We maybe get down to see you ,, we have a small villa ooooooop north east but we live in the Uk ,, not been over for 3 years , we can fly from udon and rent a car so it not too bad ,, all the best to you and your lovely wife
Hi I’m a new subscriber and I’m enjoying your channel You said in this video you need 800,000 bht for the retirement visa, is that needed in a Thailand bank account or just show proof of funds from my uk account thanks
If you get an OA visa from a consulate in your home country then you meet the financial requirements using money in your home country bank accounts. Eventually you will need to extend that visa yearly and for that you need to have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account. After the first year you could switch to the monthly income method which is 65,000 baht/month into your Thai bank account.
@@nigelhumphreysfsuk2833 Some of the people in the video were using visa agents. With an agent you don't have to meet the government requirements I mentioned but you pay the agent fee.
If you use a visa agent you don’t have to do that but you have the expense of the agent. The money in the bank method, which I use, is 800,000 baht ($20,900 today). After the first year you can switch to the monthly income method which is 65,000 baht/month. No money left in the bank and you can spend the 65,000 baht to zero each month.
Hello Richie, my friends are thinking about Retiring in Thailand. We have a podcast on RUclips called Middle Aged Still Single, it will be a pleasure if you can join us as discuss retirement in Thailand. We plan on being in Thailand in July
Hi From Sweden... Love watching your vids! It seems you have a wonderful life there with the Beautiful Maybelle!!! she has a smile of an Angel...Hope everything is going the right way for you all!!!!!
I payed an agent, 40000 baht, arrived on a Tourist exemption visa, got a 15 month multiple entry visa, bank account including a bit of accident insurance and didn't have to put any money in the account, and for 400 baht every 3 months they do the reporting. It's simple anybody who tells you any different is lying and if you cant afford to pay for 40000 baht you should not be retiring.
That was a cool interview Richie! It’s great to hear about what the guys had to say about their retirement in Thailand and the process of getting their visa there…Wonderful to see you interview Donny whom we’ve met at your cafe:) please say hello to him for us, would you?😉 Thanks for sharing this video & I hope that Maybelle was able to get her Justin Bieber tickets 😊
Great to see how the early retires are coping. I retire next month at just turned 53. The key is income more than savings you really have to have a plan of achieving good regular income mixed with no debt if you wanna retire long-term. Hopefully will visit you guys in due course 👍 🙂
one of your guests: Sean King (vlogging a dead horse) is the quintessential eccentric Englishman, at least that's what people would say if not English. Classic humour, self-effacing, top-youtuber. So glad Richie compared him to Harald Baldr and Bald and Bankrupt, a rare compliment and well deserved

30 day Tourist and see a agent very straightforward my retirement Visa Three weeks later
Sure about that? Thought the process was 60-90day Non OA first before the Non O. Thats my take on it after 15 years here.

Is it true in order to retire there that you must deposit over 24k in a Thai bank account ?
If you use a visa agent you don’t have to do that but you have the expense of the agent. The money in the bank method, which I use, is 800,000 baht ($20,900 today). 800 quid all in? You will need to show 10K in your account every year when renewing your Non-O. Do it yourself, don't pay an agent.
