- The Beatles Revolution 9 and White album were reviewed by the NME music paper in 1968. I use a segment here in my ranking video. full video is in the link. #johnlennon #paulmccartney #ringostarr #georgeharrison #thebeatles #beatles #1960smusic #liverpool #liverpoolmusic #thewhitealbum #revolution #rubbersoul #yokoono #georgemartin #petebest #nowandthen #freeasabird #abbeyroad #revolver #sgtpepper #sgtpepperslonelyheartsclubband #yellowsubmarine #beatles #wings #seventiesmusic #seventies #sixties #sixtiesmusic #1970s #1960s #70s #60s #plasticonoband #magicalmysterytour #heyjude #strawberryfieldsforever #strawberryfields #emirecords #80s #eightiesmusic #eighties #80smusic #apple #bandontherun #1980s #1980smusic #lindamccartney #brianepstein #interview #venusandmars
The great strength of the white album is that it encompasses so many styles. Rock, folk, musichall, kitsch, ballads and even early metal. _Revolution #9_ is avant-garde, which (like it or not), was an important part of Twentieth Century music. It's also one of the best examples of such to ever be committed to record.
Rev' No.9 is a classic and one of my favourite tracks on The Beatles album, I still play and enjoy it. Those who find the track not to their taste totally misunderstand what the Beatles were about.
You know you are talking 💩
I know you're joking,so am I 😋
A nod to early experiments with tape and audio pioneered by Stockhausen. I always liked it. :)
@@lorendigiorgi It's a well crafted soundscape and took people by complete surprise.
Good critique of Revolution #9.
Nonsense
Hold that line, hold that line!
Block that kick, block that kick!
"Great!" 👍
Not for everyone but #9 is a great piece of abstract sound, an auditory collage where the mind is supposed to create the visuals. Again, not everyone is capable of being imaginative
Marvelous !!!! 🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡🎡
Im incredibly thankful the Beatles brought this type of avant garde art to the masses. Any criticism of it is almost always from the type of people who don’t ‘get’ a Jackson Pollock painting. When it comes to pure abstract art tracks, Revolution 9 is essential. Wouldn’t feel out of place on a Kid A era b-side.
The White Album was one of the first records I bought as a kid.
It's a great album. And by the way it's Lennon/ McCartney
and also Harrison..........and a Ringo composition.
sure but that's just how NME wrote it .
@@hammer44head True, Rev 9 is not a piece of music, just lousy noises patch together by an indulgent Lennon, taking space that could have been used by Harrison's superb "Isn't it a Pity" & "Sour Milk Sea"
What's the difference? It was McCartney-Lennon until "She Loves You" and they changed it afterwards just because it was alphabetical sounding better.
@@GergelAni - oh dont argue with a Lennon fan, they are like a cult members.
Its classic Ono avontgarde bullshit that Lennon fell for and indeed included in many of his songs
Well said.
It's great avantgarde music.
@@Mullewarp have you always been a baiter?
@@brianholmes3547 Am I a baiter when I like Revolution #9 ? And don't fell for that Yoko Ono bashing? That does'nt mean that I like what Yoko Ono does, but each to their own.
@@Mullewarp anyone who likes revolution #9 must be either a baiter or a nutter.
I remember well the critics' outrage over Revolution #9, which was so predictable that it was a motivating factor for Lennon to make the recording (he NEEDED to demythologize The Beatles by courting outrage), but I'm very curious to see the critical reaction to You Know My Name.
I love, You Know My Name. It is so John and Paul.
@@songbird9978 Me too, but I didn't have the single with it on the B side of Let It Be, so I didn't even know about it until several years after, no one talked about it, I was so pleasantly surprised! Btw, Brian Jones played the sax on it, he had died in '69 before it was released in '70 (recorded in '67).
It's pushing the envelope. It's vocal dream.
Listen to Liverpool sound collage
Rev 9 is a pallet cleanser
By codswallop you mean crap right?
it does indeed 😀
For once i agree with the critics. Revolution #9 was a waste of studio time.
Yeah…I couldn’t dance to it, either!
@@f5mando maybe if you did the Elaine, it kind of has the same rhythm 😂
The White Album is great, but I always skip over “Don’t Pass Me By” and especially “Revolution #9.” It’s BRUTAL and I bet McCartney still cringes when he hears it.
It was crap instigated by that faux artist Yoko. John was such a sucker for her. He had mother issues and she stepped in to be his second mom.
Wie ist Ihre Beziehung zu Ihrer Mutter Doktor Freud?
I always skip the atrocious "ObladiOblada". Revolution 9 is brilliant!
McCartney/Lennon? Lol.
Avant garde is French for bullshit. Who said that?
I'm guessing this is a rhetorical question, but I'll answer it anyway - JOHN LENNON.
