The translation is a bit odd, as baepsae translates into crowtit, a small bird with short legs. This song is based on an old Korean idiom about knowing your place: “If a crow-tit (or parrotbill) tries to follow a stork, it’ll split its legs.” It teaches how you should tailor your ambitions to the measure of your abilities or the resources given to you. But BTS refuses to stay in their lane, but to risk the pain of ‘splitting their legs’ by taking bigger steps, such as the storks who were born into advantage. It’s about their beginning as underdogs but fearlessly breaking out of this status and pursuing their dreams. Several of the moves imitate the smaller crowtit steps, and others those of the long-legged storks.
I think it falls in line with the fact that the title was later changed (or at some point changed) to "Silver Spoon," so it's a call back to that? But yeah the chorus does look weird when at one point it's translated as "tryhard" - which fits with the idiom meaning - and at another as "silver spoon." The gist of the meaning is there though, for sure.

In BTS we thrust…. I mean trust 😂. No fo real, I love this song. The beat and mix is fire. The lyrics run so deep. There’s an awesome explainer out there about this song by Koreans that shows how many shots they’re taking at Korean social structures. This is one of their "goofing off" dance practices. Check out the Halloween ones if you wanna laugh your ass off. Great reaction!

It’s funny you rewind back to Suga in all black, impressed with that swaggy move and actually he’s the rapper who didn’t want to be an idol and have to dance and was lied to at signing that he wouldn’t have to dance 😂 and look how good he became 💜
Considering when this song was written and came out to now, it's 100% profound.
When BTS debuted there were The 3 Big record labels SME, JYP, & YGE. They literally controlled the industry & could actually get indie groups, like BTS at the time, blackballed & slimmed out of music show productions with their power. Think of it like Capitol, Universal, & Warner blocking the path of 'XL Recordings' with artists like Adele & Radiohead from being able to promote their music...That's what BTS had to deal with back in the day... Big Hits, their OG label is indie...Through the dedication and hard work, or as this song indicates "Tryhard", their label, which has now relabeled under their parent company Hybe Corp, they've become internationally successful. BTS singlehandedly have been 1/2% of the entire GDP of South Korea. Hybe earned so much money internationally they were able to surpass South Korea's Big 3 record labels, and in 2021 bought out Ithaca Holdings from Scooter Braun. This made Justin Bieber & Arianna Grande label mates with BTS, and BTS's label now manages their careers. It's such a turn of events that earlier this year Hybe went to make a hostile takeover of 1 of the Big 3 -- SME, who fought it and ended up being bought out by Kakao instead.
Again, think about this... the little fish became a shark and now it's starting to attempt to eat up the whales. That's why this song is so prophetic and epic...it's like they were predicting their own futures through sheer willpower.

Hope world by j hope is awesome also great album I’ve been a Army since 2017 I saw them on American music awards. I hadn’t watched them for years because I was not interested in the music was out there. I just happened to turn the TV on and BTS just started performing and I’ve been down the rabbit hole every since I am 56 years old. I love them they have helped me through hard times, and they are deeply in my heart.
I love all genres of music music lyrics love it I used to listen to Marilyn Manson and the Red Hot Chili Peppers is my favorite band. But I’ve been listening to nothing but BTS and watching Korean dramas since 2017 lol

And this was one of their "goof off practices" so if you saw the whole vid there was a before scene where they were betting on who had to do JHopes dance break at the end and Suga lost....to this day this vid is on repeat on my watch list!! More direct translations talk about storks and the bapsae bird (AKA in English, the crow tit bird). It goes back to an old Korean saying.
Bapsae are little birds with little legs (they represent the everyday man), and storks are long legged (the people in power). There's the idea that the "storks" keep telling the "crow tits" to keep up and try harder, when all they'll really do is damage their little legs that are at an unfair disadvantage.

Well I figured somebody is bound to have told you that this was them being in one of their funny practices they were just being plumb silly in parts of this! So if you wanted about why some of it was kind of not their normal synchronicity it's because they were being somewhat silly in this video and it's known for that! I actually truly love this video so much and I love the song this is a great song but you need to watch some other videos of them performing it!

This translation seems a little weird to me ? . The Doolset one is more accurate, and meaningful, and make the choregraphy more understable with the crow tits/stork legs. Aniway, the song is amazing with his social et societal backlash, and the dance practice is so good !

Jimin (the dancer you like) from BTS just dropped his new solo video and it is crazy good. Just him and the best dancers I have ever seen. If you like dancing it is a whole other level. The supporting dancers must have been handpicked as the world's best. They don't even seem human!
