I grew up listening to Mrs. Dolly & Porter Wagner. On the weekends, my mama, daddy and the locals would be playing & singing tunes if daddy wasn't deployed. I don't remember how old I was before I realized that my if sweet Mama took her hair off at night, Mrs. Dolly must too. Mama went to sing with the angels 22 years ago, it still feels like yesterday. My 57th bday is around the corner in April, and if my surgeon will clear me (I'm having major surgery to replace my shoulder w/prosthetics in Feb), I'm hoping to take my 'baby' to hear some real music in TN & Dollywood. My Papaw was a Baptist minister and this song is so him! Today is the Anniversary of my Mamaw Birdie’s passing(his wife). She “loved her some Dolly,” and would pick her guitar and we would sing on the porch. This was like a big heart warming hug from my God fearing Papaw and Mamaw. ❤️🙏🏻
I was literally just listening to Coat of Many Colors and singing, (way off key) to my Mamaw, when this notification popped up. You see, she was born in the Tennessee mountains. She weighed 4lbs and slept in a dresser drawer, she was born. The women who assisted in her birth, helped,”blow breath in her lungs all night.” Anyway, she had to quit school to care for her brothers and sisters, after her mama abandoned them. She was an amazing lady. That song reminds of her stories and how she would make me things from her extra material. My favorite, a pillow hand stitched, made from the fabric calendars she used to hang in the kitchen, it was 10 years old , but she made that pillow just for me. God Bless you, Dolly. I grew up listening to Mrs. Dolly & Porter Wagner. On the weekends, my mama, daddy and the locals would be playing & singing tunes if daddy wasn't deployed. I don't remember how old I was before I realized that my if sweet Mama took her hair off at night, Mrs. Dolly must too. Mama went to sing with the angels 22 years ago, it still feels like yesterday. My 57th bday is around the corner in April, and if my surgeon will clear me (I'm having major surgery to replace my shoulder w/prosthetics in Feb), I'm hoping to take my 'baby' to hear some real music in TN & Dollywood. It was a trip that I always dreamed of taking with my Mama. Saying a special birthday prayer for you Dolly! 🦋

And the way I referred to her was a term of respect, because growing up they were known by both his names but only her first. So we called ladies Miss or Mrs '______' (name). It was an old mountain respect thing for where I came from in Wv.
