Man eats raw lime: "It's kinda bitter"
Me: Surprised Pikachu
FYI no known member of the Citrus genus and its related genera within tribe Citreae are toxic, though to call some edible would be quite the stretch given their unpalatability.
d a r k n e s s it is not poisonous but incredibly bitter and mostly used in oriental medicine
Well to be fair, some citrus trees and fruits can cause serious skin inflammation when exposed to sunlight.
But I like limes...
I cater for a college and do a lot of ethnic meals. My dingbat chef decided we should make calamanci juice. For 250 people. I juiced 3 potato crates full by hand. Even after that still love them.
LUCKY
It's fun looking back on these old videos.
Key lime is better ripe. It’s a somewhat pale yellow with pale green flesh at that point. Hard to get ripe key lime in Florida unless you grow your own and harvest it when it’s yellow. But it looks like a small nearly-spherical lemon by then.
The culture has changed since FL was overrun by Yanks, but calamondin (calamansi in the Philippines) was popular for marmalade in the old days (it is about as hardy as kumquats, so will survive even northern Florida). It will also burn out most sore throat infections if you eat it whole. Tastes awful, but works well.
interesting!
Yanks😩 lol the nerve
Just going back and watching some of the old videos on this channel. Thanks for powering through this one back in 2014. Who knows if you had did that ritual you might be getting compliments on your glowing face and aura now. I dont know if that’s a compliment anyone really desires to hear though
thanks for checking out some of the "classic" videos :)

Ayyyy lmao
la mao zedong
When you were talking about the one lime being used in a ritual to increase charisma and a picture of Patrick Jane from The Mentalist popped up ɪ immediately had to go show my GF while she was in the shower. We love that show. Also I love going through and just binge watching your videos. Much love man!
these videos give me a pavlovian response where my face scrunches up and starts to sweat every time Jared licks a citrus fruit
No idea why, but when I was 5, I was totally obsessed with anything lime, limes or lime flavoured.
Have you tried ‘finger lime’ or also nicknamed ‘lime caviar’? Has pearls of intense lime flavour inside, like essential oil of lime. I still love lime to this day! 💚💚💚 Feijoa is still my No1 though😂
I would like to see the one you missed (Susu lime) if you ever get the chance. "milk lime" just sounds to odd.
Calamansi, are also called Calamondin, they have become quite popular in Europe and other regions for having small trees at home (they are one of the few citrus specias which you can keep over winter in a warm household). The taste is basically like Mandarine without sugar but extra acid, if you add sugar you get a very strong mandarine like taste but with more acid, however you also have to add the peel to the mix, it is sort of a hybrid of mandarine and Kumquats so the peel definitely is edible and adds extra flavor but does not have the sugar compound of Kuqmuats, it is also very tasty for seasoning and a heave fruit producer.
This is interesting. I must order more limes from foreign countries.... Now that I think about it, the shipping costs would plummet my savings to the ground... I must explore this topic further and broaden my knowledge...

I didn't know we wanted shiny faces. Learn something new everyday.
What's your all time favorite type of lime. I was wondering if you would do a descriptive video of what you do for a living and the places you have traveled. You are fast becoming my favorite youtuber
limau pagar is ganapathi naranga in kerala used for rituals for lord ganesha and also good for making pickle
I think this first one you tried is more of a Persian Lime rather than a Key Lime. I live in South Florida and the Key Lime is usually smaller and even though it’s bitter had a slightly sweet flavor to it.
dude i just realized that your opening music in some of your videos is the cannibal holocaust main theme
haha yep perfect travel series music.

In South borneo/kalimantan the name is Limau Kuit..
I love these videos. Super informative. I was wondering if you can do a review on Bangladeshi citruses. They have so many varieties and it’s very popular amongst the culture. I saw your video on the ghondoraj lebu and loved the review. Can you also review these popular varieties: kagozi lebu, the shatkora, Zara lebu, Elachi lebu, Ada zameer, pati lebu, China 3 lebu, bari lebu, gora lebu, and Shashni lebu?
I love and grow calamari but I've always picked it when orange. I'll have to try green this year.
Hi Jared , like your reviews, have you try to taste our bignay fruit it’s a wild berry endemic to Philippines.or lipote fruit a black berry with a unique sweet and sour taste.best for flavoring coconut wine.
I’ll be doing that ritual, thanks for the info
Key lime, also known as LMAO.
When they are orange, definitely tangerine fragrance and flavor.
Apparently "limau kedangsa" is a common name for the poorly-studied Citrus halimii (mountain citron), but what you had looks more like a ripened Citrus hystrix var. hystrix (makrut lime), or maybe a hybrid of makrut lime with something else
Put the salt plum in thd center, will taste good (kasturi)
What’s the name for the closing music?
40 episodes in through my travel and I've just now decided to start commenting on them.
Bit tough to come up with something creative to say about limes, so instead I will say I vastly prefer lemons to limes. I will eat lemons on their own. Maybe someday I'll try some gooseberries.
I've had calamansi sorbet. It was amazing
It reminded me of the fresh lime juice in Ecuador.
Okay, now which one of those gave my computer the big sad when I was 10?
Have you tried a Ogeechee Lime? From the Tupelo tree native to America.
I don’t know if you are referring to the same plant but the second one right pronunciation is “calamondin” again the one you choose is not a right sample because is not mature yet.
It was wildly used as ornamental in Europe because you can make little bonsais with it with fruits a look very nice. Once mature is really orange in and outside, lots of juice and excellent to make a “Cuba libre” with it.
This is another one that I exported from Central America to Europe several years.
He has done a comparison of ripe and unripe calamansi
calamondin and calamansi are the same plant
You missed the variegated Lemon on this list.
Along with calamondin are the best to make “Cuba Libre”
When it comes to limes, the only question that needs an answer is, does it make for a good gin & tonic?!
Man this vid is hilarious!! The facial expressions r great!!!! that voodoo sounding mix at the end of the vid was missing a bats wing and the dried blood of a mummy..lol... GREAT VID BRO!
Thanks.
Australian members of the citrus tribe (genus Microcitrus, and others) might be worth a try. Never had any myself.
Australia is on the list for a future destination. So maybe I can find some!
We have varieties of native finger limes growing in Cairns, where I live. Like lime caviar. Delicious in a glass of water or to garnish an oyster
My brain is just hearing 'LMAO neebus, LMAO BOOYAH'
how about markisa fruit? I am sure you will like it
Hey Marion, I have three videos where I review Markisa fruits :) I reviewed it under the name "Passion fruit"
Have you tried limau purut?
Yes that was a very interesting one. I have a full video review on it under "weird fruit explorer kaffir lime" Here's a link: ruclips.net/video/Z14mYMI-1EQ/видео.html
should try the Australian Finger Limes. Citrus caviar
ayy lmao!
Honey how are you not hospitalized eating all this bad stuff?
How is taste testing fruits and things naturally occurring bad? He's not eating in excess nor harming himself in the process.
@@KiMoKo9787 in various videos our gorgeous friend here makes, he often will try a fruit that can be poisonous if eaten in too great a quantity. There are also some fruits that he's had to prepare just exactly right in order for them not to be dangerous. I am amazed that he's not gotten seriously sick for that reason. It's fascinating to me how often he tells us that a fruit is technically edible but rarely eaten. He's kind of fearless
Lime r use for drinks or put in chilli sauce
We Limeys need to stick together!🙄
11:20 😂😂😂😂😂😂
My guy is probably immune to scurvy at this point
if i'm not mistaken the one you called limau kedangsa is actually "limau purut" or kaffir lime. limau kedangsa is "limau bali" or "limau tambun" which is pomelo
A New York State of taste (mind)!!
try RATTAN FRUIT, I'd say it's the most sour fruit I've ever tasted here in the Philippines. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rattan
Bathe until Finnish
Le meow 🐈
Limua kadangsa =Citrus halimii
WHYYYYY is the Cannibal Holocaust theme used here!? Hahahaaa
Don't do it! Don't do the ritual! I followed all the istructions and now I look like Mr. Clean.
everything that come from italy with a ch in it's spelled like a k
It’s Limau Kasturi, not Kedangsuri
It’s Limau Telur Buaya, not Teleur Baya.
And Limau isn’t pronounced the same way people pronounce “lmao”
lmao neepis
Lmao
He used to be so pretty!
I don't get what's so funny about these limes
isn't the K-word a horrible racist slur? is there a better name for those limes?
Has he never drank tequila before? He seems confused how to taste a lime...
Nope, dude's a vegetarian straightedge.
