Love the sound boys! And I mean boys. LOL. The look on your dad’s face, priceless. Hopefully it works for the intended purpose. Worth considering that those brackets you welded to the roof will transfer some noise through the cab. Mate of mine always makes a ladder type frame for his trucks, to remove the exhaust and air intakes away from the cab. The reduction in low level drone noise is amazing.
60 yrs back when we were so lucky to have a turbo we went to sleep with our ears ringing and now I should be stone deaf but I probably can hear as good as any other dinosaur.
I've had a ringing noise in my ears for along time if I payed attention to it would drive me up the wall probably 40 years of operating I don't see what has saved you from not hearing cricket s at nite or a whistling sounds I probably have half of hearing left nowdays
hi fellers, regarding the overheating, if you have not already had a look to see for yourself i would have a look at the bottom corners of the rad they could very well have dirt compacted in them, that was always the problem with cooling in machines i have ran in the past, unless other problems exist, most people just clean out the center, maybe the top corners cuz they r easier to reach, but the bottom corners end up never getting cleaned.
The local radiator shop uses an ultrasonic cleaning process for the radiators of log haulers & wood chippers etc. Might get a carbon monoxide meter for the dozer cab. I have heard of machine operators getting sick from diesel exhaust (ag tractors to locomotive train drivers) . A swing down/ up ladder might help keeping away from the tracks, pipes & engine covers.
Run oil instead of coolant so the system doesn't rust. A few grand in ATF should work. As for the pipes, figure the main frequency of the noise, halve it and cut the pipes so one is a difference of half a wavelength from the other. So around 260hz is 1 m. Have 1 stack 50cm higher than the other so the waves hitting the cab will cancel some of itself out. Third hang some electric fans on the mesh panels to pull heat out of the engine bay.
MATT I used to own a Radiator business, do you know if the radiator has had a cleanout, tanks off and rodded the tubes. If the core doesn’t have any corrosion to the fins too a large degree on the bottom of the radiator it may very well benefit from a cleanout. If you go this road then depending on the rad shops report on the radiator then if it had 20% of the tubes clogged then I would definitely flush the engine remove the thermostat and replace the cover then run high pressure water if possible thru the engine in reverse. Normal pressure water will do but use an air blower with compressed air at intervals to blast the water thru the system. You can buy a flushing gun to do this that fits inside the bottom hose. Try Repco as they used to sell one made from aluminium and it fits many hose sizes. Obviously then replace everything and fill the engine with 60% yes 60% ethylene glycol anti freeze anti boil. ONLY USE THE CONCENTRATE do not use premix EVER.
Excellent advice except H2O is the best conductor of heat. Coolant additives actually reduce the amount of heat (energy) transfer. Use only enough for corrosion - boiling prevention. Cheers, Todd.
@@russiandisinformation2607 no the purpose of AFAB is here in Australia not the AF side but the AB side and the suppression of any presence of heat bubbles on the outside of the liners, what happens is in water that bubbles are created down the side of the liner and when they implode they eventually cause a cavitation effect the will in time eat thru the liner into the bore. Ethylene Glycol prevents this from occurring in diesel engines it raises the boiling point of the water/coolant. If you run straight water in a diesel you better have heaps of money as it doesn’t take long to go thru the liners.
Wet Hessian bag fellas 👍I have been alive enough to have been full power strafed...equally not...by a spitfire on rememberance day....an impossible 180 turn on a beautiful day that was the most lived moment of everything that's real.
Sounds great, would probably drive the operator mental though after half a day :D I'd be very surprised if it didn't make some noticeable difference to the temperature, that is a LOT of heat that you are getting rid of. The positioning of those pipes is almost perfect, hiding behind the pillars. Phil might not let you put the originals back on to obstruct his view :P
I've got a skidder with a Detroit and the exhaust terminates above the canopy. Having the solid material between the operator and the end of the exhaust makes a big difference. Quieter in the seat than near the machine.
We have had success flushing the radiators on stuff with a calcium rust and limestone remover. We just rig up hoses and a decent sized pump and pump it forwards and backwards through just the radiator. Clr is a product in the states but I have heard of muratic acid being used
If it works on cooling could always throw a flow threw muffler on it like a flow master or a Donaldson. Neighbour did that on his 3406 cat and took it down a couple decibels. Know that d11 a lot bigger motor but anything could help it be a little more bearable well running lol. Enjoy the video.
Now that you have the pipes outside you should remove the hood / bonnet, I assume you are running a reverse fan ,as it it is sucking the hot air into the radiator past the hot muffler, if that helps make a hood with holes in it to prevent a restriction , that may help with the over heating Also make sure the gauges are accurate. Good luck ! Another suggestion mount the mufflers outside like the old 8 K was built .
Something I have experienced here in the states (USA) is when the temps go above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, large tractors, trucks or anything with a diesel or gas powered engine for that matter that is using more than 50% of it's horse power will run a "fever". The cooling system simply cannot keep up..........😁😁😁😁😁
Convert it to a carry dozer…long tilt jacks…rocker switch on blade lever…add counterweights..used to steam these baby’s back 20yrs ago and got to play in shot rock around eastern Ky southern West Virginia. 11R CD will pack a pile boys..🫡💪🏻
Interesting to see if temperatures drop Idle time cost money and productivity. Nice way to spend holiday time bet it didn’t take much to get you playing Matt
I do not know but all the "shields" on both sides of the engine, would tend to "hold" in a lot of heat???? Your exhaust modification is bound to help, plus it really sounds good!!!!

As long as men are around on earth and there is machinery, we WILL put straight pipes on it .😂, sounds awesome 💪. Great stuff gents
Yes we are simple creatures we see a diesel engine we must straight pipe it
Amen brother
"Don't matter if it dont work
It was fun "
Great words from Peter
Love it, Love it, Love it. It sounds great to me. I would love to hear it working in person though. Thanks for sharing Jackson brothers 👍
Great video Matt Brad Peter Phil and JD
❤. That sound ❤️. Gave me chills. Hope no one grabs that pipe while exiting the cab!
Hoons, gotta love it,8" chrome is the way to go !!

Beautiful sound I can listen to that all day
Well Matt i must say I'm enjoying the play time and experimenting and it sounds wicked can't wait to see part 3 with the big girl working
Ah the first dozer i ever run, D11N, i could just close my eyes and the sound of that motor will put me to sleep 👌👌👌
After looking it up to see what it means, I agree with Peter that sound is visceral, even only listening with headphones . Cheers.
love to here that big boy pushing hard
Love it. Straight pipes save lives. Now people will hear you coming. Lol
D11 sounds great with straight pipes
Music to my soul. I love it
Great work guys. Cannot wait for the big push.
Loud pipes save lives. 👍
Mad max would be excited to run this 😅
seeing peters smile , priceless , 🥸🤓,Canada
Need to hear it working!
Ole girl breathing out now!
I'll bet that is a wonderful sound, I guess we would have to be there to get the full effect of this.👍
Hey youse two good video looking forward to Phil's pushing test hopefully he approves and the temps come down
Can’t wait to hear it pushin. Mount a microphone on the roof of the cab and send it👌👍
Coming soon!
Definitely looking forward to hearing her purr under load.👌🏽

WOW, this is going to be a great update 👍

Man what a beast of a machine , Cool video and regards from Ohio USA !
Love the Milwaukee wall Matt 👍the fridge size is slightly concerning though haha
Awesome noise love it 😊
Wowzers this is hoonagins happy place. 12inch stainless staxs.
Happy days from kiwi land
Dunno what you’d have to complain about,no need for a radio anymore 🎵🎵
You carnt beat that note 👍
Great sound - doors closed with ear protection - OK - some harmonic vibration in the supports at particular revs?

Hey can you do a rundown on your tool wall and how it’s setup👌🏻 looks handy as

Now you have got a new sporty exhaust, your really going to have to do something about the handling in the corners.
❤ from Norway
So the Db test mean you can drive it down the freeway now 🤣😅
Coolest sound
Asmatic D11, love the remedy😂

Leave it straight piped 😊love it bet you gain 4-6 degrees in cooling!

Mad Max D11. Bunch of hooooons 😂😂
The pipes are too small in diameter otherwise great vidéo thank you 💪💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Roooting Matt. We ain’t septics 😂
Just set up a water fogger on the radiator. Im sure a small water tank 50l wont overload it.
Sure I could here that in 🇬🇧 uk 😍🤪
G'day awesome video mates
Put some earmuffs on Matt and Pete , she’ll be right 👍🏾🇦🇺
Sounds awesome, but i get to turn it down. 😊
Straight piped d11 as a title will surly get a million views
I do not know but all the "shields" on both sides of the engine, would tend to "hold" in a lot of heat???? Your exhaust modification is bound to help, plus it really sounds good!!!!
My super sweet 2013 dodge dart is straight piped lol
Sounds good but as for 10 hr shift of it dunno , but id give it a go
C'mon Phil where's your sense of adventure 😂
That’s why I wear muffs! Simples !!
Will it be louder under loud pushing
106 dB IS Okay, No problem just unsolder top tank header with the Radiator run some alloy strips down the core
That restriction in the pipe keeps the air cleaner from filling with dirt
@@TheRouse96 thanks! I wondered that yesterday, seems to create a suction for the air cleaner👍😁
7:50 woke my sleeping dog up. 🐶
Do you still have the other d11?.
Nice toy
It’s a yes from me
Straight pipe 60 ser Detroit is about 140db at a idle before you jump on the Jake's. Make it raw 🦁
Straight pipe d11 awesome i could run that all day with the windows open then wouldn't hear wife nag nag at end of the day👍🏻👍🏻
Did not take much persuasion from Peter to get Matt back for the day.
It looks mad with them on it
Mufflers wouldnt be bolted on if they wernt supposed to be removed 🤙🫡
Well done you loose the dust extraction from the air cleaners
Let the dragon breath
Dam that's loud. I can ear all the way here at my place. 😛
So what part three were getting flames painted down the side?????
Good idea!
@@thejacksonbrothersgetting a street artist to paint one up would look insane, would absolutely be a world first
At 85db Ear Protection is Compulsory in UK
Too Red Neck ! for Professional CAT and theylle break off
Probably gain a couple horsepower also
Could just go ahead and pipe it to the back
You have awoken the beast.
