  • Until about a year ago, one could easily have spent over $1,000 on a neo-pixel lightsaber replica. Especially if it was installed with. 3D printed chassis and a Proffie board. I bided my time, hoping one day I would find something even halfway nice in this category. LGHTSaber became the company that finally put it all together at a price comparable to what many companies sell their mid-range lightsabers for. In this episode we will put their Graflex through it’s paces and see how it looks. Plus: How the Graflex became the first lightsaber!

I purchased directly from LGT as i am a distributor for them. Unfortunately, the don’t make this particular version of the Graflex any longer. So if you’re looking on Ali Express, be carful since there’s a lot of folks claiming to be affiliated with the company who can range from complete frauds to overseas vendors, and even some employees selling rejects that have been returned. They can often be much cheaper through Ali, but unless you’re certain that you are buying directly from LGT you’re often better off going through a legit distributor who will do right by their customers. LGT does offer a 12 month warranty that any legit distributor needs to honor in terms of customer satisfaction including repairs or replacement. My web site is currently getting some updates done, but will give you the link. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. GrievousLairLightsabers.com

LOL! I think it’s never too late to watch them...provided you’re into science fiction stories. And while I may be a Star Wars fan, there certainly better and worse out of the movies. The continuity can leave something to be desired in the second trilogy, as does some of the acting. It’s not that there are bad actors, but the lead of Anakin Skywalker was a poor choice in my opinion. Start with the original trilogy. If you like those, ask me about the second trilogy, and the third. If you hate the original movies, just don’t go on...LOL!

@@AngelaKayAustin There’s a difference between Star Wars and Star Trek for sure. I enjoy both, but for different reasons. And I knew things about what was supposed to go down in the second Star Wars trilogy and it didn’t really happen as George Lucas first envisioned. There’s an animated series that takes place between those movies that fleshes them out. Watching all that was a deep dive, but I really enjoyed the aspects of a much bigger story. Then we get to the new movies and they’re fun, but again have poor character development and lots of gaps. Will they become a larger story? Who knows. I really loved the characters on Next Gen. It's a real shame -- i got a current catalog from the person you linked - but they've changed the design ... it's high-polish finish and lost the embossed rear cap. Haven’t seen the new version up close. Looks like there have been a couple of changes. Looks good, but the red button isn’t the same. They did stamp the clamp, which the previous version didn’t have. The pics look good, but a couple of less screen accurate details. Might have been for copyright reasons. I know in some cases copyright law only allows so many copies of duplication before infringement occurs. Not sure if that was why this run has some minor changes, but that would be my best guess...and possibly why other companies have slight variations from canon, or different numbered runs with gaps in between some of the screen hilts to avoid coming under the law of mass production of someone else’s property.

In reality, some may have “designed” their own, but have had LTG manufacture them. If you do a bit of searching you can pick up on one or two of the companies. You can mute it, but I don’t believe there’s a volume control on the Graflex that can raise or lower sound. On the regular LGT sabers, however, there’s an option to make it it half as loud. I sent you all the instruction manuals I have via messenger. Both the Graflex instructions they originally sent me, and the newer manuals for some of their regular sound boards. This will at least give you the specs on how to operate the Graflex and an idea of other sabers and what they can do if you decide to expand your collection. Once I discovered how much it was going to cost, I figured I would look for a reasonable representation of the actual flashgun. Not easily found from some companies. They are out there and this one gave me a nice flash gun reproduction that looks accurate. And they are very nice people who have dedication to starting a niche business out of what they love. Which is important to me no matter where I buy it. There are a few companies out there who aren’t so nice. I would say if you need advice and where to look, check out the Universal Lightsaber Community on Facebook. One of the better groups I’ve belonged to with a lot of people who build lightsabers from scratch and very knowledgeable. Maybe I’ll see you over there.
