- TL;DR: I'm isolated, going insane, and have no friends so I'm moving to Seattle.
Thanks to all who have supported me over the past almost 4 years. Without you, I would not have this opportunity.
Whether you watch everything I do or only watch to hear me say "rare, blue quality sparrows," thank you all for the continuous support. I want to be around for a long time to come, so here's hoping Destiny 2 kicks ass.

I applaud you for making this video. A lot of people think a RUclipsrs life is amazing but if you're truly trying to grow your brand, you're behind a desk for about 12-14 hours a day which definitely drives you insane after a while. Have fun in Seattle btw!

When people hear my yearly income is above normal as a RUclipsr I tend to get the response "Then why do you always live with roommates when you can afford not to?" This video is exactly why. Being a RUclipsr is lonely as fuck. You have no commute, you have no co-workers, you walk from your bed 20 feet to your 'office' in the morning to start working and it takes a ton of hours and work to be successful at it. You do this for years at a time. If you move to a city without any friends or family it only exacerbates the problems.
You made it much longer than I did in LA, I was only there for my first 12 month lease before I had to move to Austin where friends are. Good luck in Seattle man. I hope you find a semblance of normalcy that does not normally go hand-in-hand with being a RUclipsr.

Glad you are putting yourself first now! I live near Seattle and moved here in October of last year. I will tell you one thing that most people wont, the weather is VERY depressing when its not summer. Overcast and rain for weeks and weeks. But one good thing is that youre moving here at the best time of the year! you will have so much to do in Seattle its insane. I am a Police Officer and I game A LOT on my time off. Your videos helped me out a lot in Destiny. (my favorite game of course.) If you ever have any questions about where the good and bad areas in Seattle are let me know. I have Seattle LE friends who can help with all the best spots to go. Youll always have a friend here. Good luck!

I saw you during PSX last year hanging out with the other youtubers near the Destiny stand and I wanted to come greet you but thought in the back of my mind you probably wouldn't be very approachable so I didn't.

The move to Seattle really was the catalyst for so many things changing in his life for the better.

This popped up in my recommended 3 years later, during a global pandemic where no one can see their lads. And it’s bizarre how what you’re saying now is exactly how a lot of people are feeling in 2020. I’m glad to see that you got out of LA and worked on yourself, it’s really awesome to see how much your life has gotten better since then. I’m gonna start working on my self for the rest of the year, try to make the most out of this staycation :)

Thought about this video out of the blue today and came back to watch it. Obviously as viewers we get only a glimpse of your life datto, but it's nice seeing this and then looking forward four and a half years and seeing the things you've gained and accomplished since then. I'm a ghost subscriber bc i don't really watch destiny videos or play it anymore but I'm glad you're focusing on yourself man, I know how it feels to not have friends IRL bc I've been through the same kind of past. I focused too much on video games & it led to losing friends & that led to my own isolation which made me hit depression for 4 odd years. 21 now & I'm in a lot happier place despite still not having any friends but it doesn't bother me as much as it did before bc I spend more time with my family now. And i respect you for sharing this with us because a lot of people view youtubers as perfect humans who have to be happy 24/7 & In reality, that isn't true which is why so many big youtubers never upload themselves with a unhappy & negative image. You uploading this shows youtubers are just as human as everyone else & simply being in a privileged position doesn't make you immune to everything.

I'm so happy to see how far you've come Datto. I'm 20 years old and just graduated college and many people tell me that's something great and I should take pride in it but I relate to much of what you have said in this video. I'm isolated, I have almost no friends (most of my real friends are online/moved away) and I have felt like I am going insane on several occasions. Even though at that time you were running quite the successful channel you still felt miserable. The degree didn't change how I feel and neither did your RUclips success. I've had ups and downs throughout the last 3 years of college but even with the degree, it doesn't make me feel complete and I know there is still work to be done on myself as a whole. It was very brave of you to post this 7 years ago and let your walls down. Thank you for that and thank you giving me hope and someone to relate to. Lastly, thank you for all the content throughout this decades long journey, keep it up no matter what.

A lot of RUclipsrs have problems. RUclips takes a lot of work, effort and time investment, which usually leads to people overworking, at least if they are/want to be successful. I have a shitty channel, and every 10 minute guide I do on League is at least 6 hours of work editing, not counting the actual playing the game part.
It's unfortunate, but its how it is. There is a certain loneliness that occurs when you are popular. I have heard that being told on several RUclipsrs, so it doesn't surprise me that much.

Hey Datto, this is asacher. Obviously a big fan supporter, and I just want to say, I am glad you are moving closer to your buds. It's a strange paradox we live in currently. We have all this technology to connect with people worldwide but it only pushes us further apart. We sacrifice these real needs for convenience, promoting a more introverted lifestyle. Having a social life and interaction is an absolute MUST, and everyone deserves that. I live in Canada, coming to Seattle to visit a friend in a month, if you want to grab a coffee, I'm down. Just a random comment which comes after a year after I watched this video can you believe it?
Anyways, I was a fat dude with the exact same situation where bed and desks were 4 feet apart and that was my routine, work, play, sleep, repeat.
Ignored my health for a while, Isolated like you from world and it took it's toll last year when I had some breathing problems as I crossed 100kg mark.
This video was kind of a turning point for me personally and relatable, I've made certain changes since then and happy to say I'm healthy (lost about 15kgs, so far and grind continues)
little bit more extroverted than before (baby steps here though as I've always been Introverted :)
It was good to see that people you admire can go through similar phases and I just wanted you to know that this video and you had an Impact on me and surely on others.
I am super glad that you have Mrs. TRVL and Mr. Brim in your life now and that happiness shows. Nothing but respect, admiration and love to you and the family Datto.

I know how you feel, Datto. Several years ago I was the sole contractor posted in a Gov't office in a small town where all of people were the people I supported, the family of those I supported, or friends of those I supported. Due to terms of my company's contract against personal relationships with those I supported, I spent three years in total isolation at the office and in my personal time.

I stopped playing Destiny a long time ago, but I still occasionally follow Datto. So many youtubers are bullshit and boring, but Datto is always a real person and that resonates with me and others obviously given hes got 674k subs (he was just starting when I first came across him).

For some reason a bunch of your 2017 and 2018 vlogs are flooding my feed so I've been watching them lol.
I was one of those people who always wondered why you were sharp and blew people off so easily, but I should have understood. I've been very much in isolation for the last 9 years, and any human contact has brought drama and trauma so it hasn't been too easy. I've spent the last year in a new kind of "Hermit" mode where I did a lot of self discovery, working through my pains and my problems, and practicing self authenticity. It's helped a lot and I feel strong enough to take on the world again.
I did take the quit from Destiny back at the release of Forsaken and I keep trying to come back in, but I havent healed my connection with actual real 3D people yet lol so I have to stay away until I fix that.
