Very surprised the result didn't have some serious noise, since the shield ("foil thing") is now breached, and you have long wires at audio line level that are unshielded. I'd recommend restoring the shield, and using a 2 twisted pair shielded cable to go from the splice to the jack.
nice job fellas, btw I have a crystler pt cruiser the radio looks almost identical with slight variance, mine has cassette and cd both. by any chance would you happen to have a list of items needed and maybe per say a drawing of it?
hi i have 1999 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 limited and it has almost same cd player but it doesnt have the black wire where you conected the aux so do you know what can i do to conect the aux?
Thanks for the video. Just finished up and everything works except I cant turn my volume up while playing music from an mp3 player/phone. I have to change the mode back to stereo, turn it up then put it back in cd mode. The only thing that was different is my harness and plugs were different then yours. I still had all t he same wires/same colors. Mine is a 2004 wj special edition. Any thought on how to fix this issue?
+TheSkipBuck Hey theskipbuck, just wanted to ask if you ever fixed the issue you are having... I have a 2004 special edition too. I was looking at the back of the radio and it certainly is different than the video above. Which cord leading to the radio did you splice? and lastly, how is the sound quality? is it worth it for me to proceed? Please let me know ASAP, it would be greatly appreciated.
Hey I'm just seeing this video, I recently bought a 00 grand Cherokee limited and my wiring harness is different from the one in the video. Did you complete this installation? What wires did you splice into? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Why would people ask this question? Use some logic. If you don't have a CD changer, would the CD changer cable exist on your stereo? If not, how would you splice into it? Also, does your stereo let you switch to the CD changer input without a CD inserted in the (non-existent) changer? If not, how would you switch to that input when you wanted to hear your Aux input? So, you tell us, do you need the CD changer for this to work?
Thanks for this, works a treat. I haven't got any discs in my changer and it still works.
Happy days.

Did You tried put som random CD to the radio ?
Is there any way to do this with just a 3.5 mm jack? Not the item from radioshack.
Just cut an auxiliary cord and strip off one end (the 3 wires you'll connect are inside)
@@SpartanGSD can you explain more please.
will this work for an 05 jeep grand cherokee with stock head unit?
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. I can say things without posing a question, too.
Do I need to have the cd changer? For it to work.
I have the same problem. No cd changer. Will it work? Anyone checked?
