I always said from the start of finding Bitcoin that Cuba is the perfect place for Bitcoin to be what sets them free. I've been talking to my family and friends in Cuba since 2015 about Bitcoin, some have adopted it, some just ignore it.

Fiat monetary policy is to print ad infinum, give it to their buddies to buy all real assets, and give the general populace inflation. Bitcoin monetary policy is static. It never changes. Fixed supply, halving every 4 years, trustless, permissionless. Your statement shows your ignorance of how Cuba got this way in the first place. 🤡

The same thing happened in Romania in the 80s-90s, the devaluing of the LEU. There was no BTC like this at that time. Having this now it's a lifeboat.

I am so encouraged when I watch videos like this - well done Joe and Paco. There are lots of reasons for BTC but this has to be what was right at the heart of Satoshi when he (they) invented the concept. Lifting the world's poor and oppressed out of poverty and into the hope of progress, be that health, education and freedom of all sorts.

The sad truth is the governments of every nation are getting bigger and bigger every day, controlling more and more aspects of private citizens' daily lives. Many 'western' countries are closer to Cuba than their native populations want to admit. Inflation (coupled with stagnated growth and wages) is present almost everywhere.

The most educated people in Cuba often find their way into tourism. Even just for part time. I went there in 2001 and engineers and doctors were very often tour guides.

The transactions of satoshi’s done in this video went through instantaneously and looked like was done on the lightning network due to the lightening bolt symbol shown above the wallet screen used to make their transaction which I wasn’t aware was already available in places like Cuba. Real interesting.
