As previously stated, it’s extremely quiet but the litter rolling around is louder and could possibly wake someone up if the machine is close to them while sleeping.
Where this shines to me is the simplicity of the design/parts. As an example, the filter part has an attachment that covers all the holes to use for putting all litter in the waste. Simple idea, no extra moving parts, and it takes very little effort.
You will still have to do some dirty work - the tumbling and sifting of used cat litter means the inside of the box will come into contact with the stuff being scooped.
I have had this robotic litterbox for a year and a half and feel ready to leave a review. All in all, I think this box was worth it. However, there are some flaws as well.
Maybe individual buttons would work better than settings to press through. The light and the spray are cool. Smell is great and still on my first bottle. I don’t know why we were given a light if we can’t program it to turn on for the cat at night or whatever.
I thought I was missing some pieces, but it turns out the stuff was in the litter bin. The smart spray, the batteries, the bags, and a couple of other things are in there. Nothing in the box let me know this
The sound of the litter sliding around inside is much louder than the motor. It moves relatively slowly and seems very “non-threatening” to our 2 cats.
Works great, but be sure to open the waste tray and shake it a bit every day or two. I didn't, and it backed up into the tunnel after like 5 days. The buttons don't seem to work right, but the app does. I use it vs the buttons for this reason. Weight isn't always accurate
I use fresh step cat litter , and that works great . I use a cup to put in fresh litter , as my box is under a table I don’t use the spray that comes with this, as I’m not sure my cats would be comfortable with the smell
Quality materials and workmanship, easy to assemble and set up, app is easy to work with, sit back and be amazed! This unit was larger than I expected.
The engineering of this product works well. The sensor is sensitive, the motor runs smoothly. It works well when it works well! But the design is flawed.
The de-odorizing features are also so nice to have as an option! Cleaning is a BREEZE, as there’s no enclosed litter reservoir, so there’s no chamber where waste might get stuck in but you can’t access to clean (like the LR has).
Although I was not a fan of this litter box, I was very impressed with the customer service. After leaving a less-than-flattering Amazon review of the product, I was surprised to hear from their customer service department, which reached out to me to find out more about the problems and offer some solutions.
Once my husband set it up it was not clear or easy to add an additional family member to the account. We even tried to call customer service to try and get this worked out and it was still weird and clunky.
Should let you configure weight ranges for your cats rather than a single with, this would let the device do a better job detecting which cat rather than having to manually identify if they light touch or their weight varies a bit over time.
They explained my WiFi didn’t have to stay at the lower speed for the box to work once it was set up, and that turned out to be true. Now that it’s working I’m sure hoping my other 2 cats will eventually get comfortable using it.
My 9 cats' poop is really helped by this. It's also safe, as soon as the cat approaches, it stops immediately. There is a camera that can see inside or outside the toilet and there is a light too.
Is is a little frustrating when you are doing maintenance. You need to put it in maintenance mode but it moves 90° up right so you could pour in litter
I was really hopeful when I purchased this that it would work as described. We have larger cats and based on reviews that this was great for larger cats because it was a larger size. I know previously there were complaints about urine leaking under the base and collecting but that this issue had supposedly been resolved.
That is another incredible plus about this company! For what it is worth, they have a pretty good product and they seem to work hard to keep their customers happy.
It’s not nearly as heavy, but just as sturdy and well assembled. It was super easy to set up, and the app, although it isn’t quite AS nice to use as the LR app, is perfectly functional
It likes to disconnect from the internet, and sometimes reads wrong from its sensor so make sure it’s not facing any furniture or a wall, and keep the sensor clean
I am more impressed with this product than I thought I was going to be. It was a large expense, even on sale, but I figured I would give it a try. I've been having issues with at least one of my little spayed ladies pooping outside their boxes.
It’s a bit intimidating when it first gets delivered, because the box is HUGE. It’s pretty light, though, and has convenient handholds so it isn’t difficult to move around
It is expensive but when you consider the time we were spending cleaning and disinfecting multiple cat boxes each week, and everything we were investing trying to get rid of the 'cats live here smell', this is a HUGE improvement and well worth the investment. Bravo PetKit!
If you have smaller cats this will work well for you. Just know that you'll have to probably check the base every day or two for urine under it. Otherwise it starts to stink really badly.
After doing everything we could to ensure it worked out for our cats we have thrown in the towel. It was not large enough for our cats and many times they would end up having accidents that were outside the device.
I just love it. My panda also loved it. Material Quality is also great. Size is also perfect for my kitten. And I m sure w.hen she will grow it will fit in without any problem. Easy to build too
Overall, I'm loving this thing and it answers the need of "do you want to never worry about cleaning your litter box every day again?" with a big "Yes!".
Those with smaller cats, or just one cat, would presumably have longer between emptying the bin. I wouldn't have minded it being larger capacity, but this size is better than scooping 4x per day! I prefer to wait on writing reviews to make sure the honeymoon period is over, and honestly I rarely have thought about the litter in the last month-and-a-half. Which is exactly what I was hoping for. I'll edit should any major issues arise.
I looked at a ton of reviews and options, and I ended up here. The appearance of this box is so much more sleek and pleasing to the eye than the LR (which basically looks like a space ship lol). It’s not nearly as heavy, but just as sturdy and well assembled.
All of my cats took to this machine very quickly, prefering it over a standard litter box. The transition period didn't take long because they all started using this over a regular box
It does have some nooks and crannies that are a bit difficult to reach but it comes apart easy enough. I usually take the barrel outside once a week to give it a really good scrub down
Setup was quick, straightforward, and very easy. I do wish that there were printed instructions just in case, but it’s understandable that there wouldn’t be - the manual would have to be enormous, because they have it translated into several different languages, which is great.
I have been in contact with the manufacturer on the issues I experienced and recapping part of the conversation. There is an updated drum design, which is available in some of the other pictures in reviews that has a 'lip' over the litter bed, aiming to prevent urine sprayed on the side of the drum from leaking past the litter bed liner
Earlier my biggest problem with a litter tray was that at times my cat would use the litter tray more than usual and once it was filled she would poo/pee in the house. Since I got this automated litter box, things have been so much easier. It cleans the litter automatically and moves the clumps into a bag
My cat likes ti face the inside when doing number two but the issue is with feces ending up on the edge which can be dragged on the drum when it is doing the cleaning
The only reason I gave this 4 stars is the lack of clear detailed written instructions to do everything I need with this advanced contraption. No, I’m not that old, I just enjoy reading all the instructions first, committing them to memory for future recall.
I absolutely love the air freshener that comes with the unit! This is the one that is attached to the inside of the cylinder. It’s smells amazing and will automatically turn on after your cat goes to the bathroom
The cons I listed are all easy to get around and take care of, just things I’d like to see improved in future models. I’m a happy customer and so are my cats and that’s what matters.
Like others have mentioned, if you have a cat that pees high, it may leak under the ledge that holds the fabric piece (I have one large male that occasionally does this).
The smell is over powering. You really need to use a good quality unscented litter for Oder elimination to work. We recently bought by accident Safeways signature select lightweight litter
I can see in the app a legend “toilet in use” and it would just get stuck in the middle of the rotation of the barrel. Some times it just takes time For the self cleaning to re start by it self other times the little screen tells
This product has completely transformed the way I manage my cat's litter box. The smart sensors work flawlessly, detecting when my cat has used the box and cleaning up immediately after. I love the fact that it’s self-cleaning, which means no more daily scooping for me.
My cats do not like the mat that goes in front of the box , not sure as to why ,but if it’s in front of their litter box they won’t use it . Would have been nice , but not a big deal .
This was very easy to assemble. Initially, I was surprised at how quiet the machine works, I can barely hear it cleaning. My cats started using it after 1 full day. Very impressed and thrilled that it is working so well!

Also the litter removal tool is useless, it’s easier to take the cylinder off with the litter inside and empty through one of the side holes. I then wipe up everything, vacuum all the cracks and crevices and set back into place to fill with fresh little. Takes about 20-30min total for a good clean
I had used a Litter Robot 3, and as it aged, the smell of urine got worse and worse. When a part broke out of warranty, I went looking for options specifically for 2 rather large cats. The deal on this one caught my eye, and though I was nervous about reviews that indicated urine pooling at the bottom, so far I have had no issues of any kind with this!

It’s nice knowing they got clean bin every time. It tracks how long they used it and which cat. I don’t know how they could track if it was similar weights or same bread.

I had the litter box connected and then tried to connect the air deodorizer that I bought with it. The litter box connected and then when I connected the deodorizer the litter box wasn’t connected.
Overall, I’m blown away by how much this lived up to my hopes. Especially as it is so much more reasonably priced than the LR and some other competitors
I have to clean both spots up a ton to prevent it from doing that. Doing all of this manually defeats the purpose of the machine. While I'm not cleaning up litter every day, I am having to break up the mountain every 3 days or so.
I've had the litter robot operational and available for 24 hours. Both girls have used it multiple times today, back to back this last time in which I took the photos when I got home from work.
Great piece of equipment, does its job well. Has multiple settings inside it which can be controlled easily from your phone. Forget scooping litter with this. The machine was packed well and delivered on time
With all the deodorizer spray + square and their official tofu litter, you can not smell it, even in a confined space. And I mean, you don’t just not smell the feces and urine, you do not even smell the litter.
Ok, so this is my very first automatic litter box and I was reluctant to spend so much money on something so “unglamorous”. I will never go back to a regular litter box again!

I managed to lay some wood under it and that did the trick. Hard floors won’t have this issue. My Siamese loves it. Which is good cause she is a smelly cat and doesn’t cover her tracks that well
I lost the inside air freshener device. It must have fallen off at some point, got poured into the waste bin and covered in poopies. All I know is when I looked one day, it was gone. And I had already tossed the bag, having no idea it contained the air freshener. That part alone costs like 40 dollars to replace. I

The machine is very cumbersome to fully clean. You can do weekly maintenance by wiping down the inner drum with a cleaning wipe which is fine, but to deep clean it fully with water is very awkward given the size and numerous nooks and crannies.
I recently tried out the PETKIT PURA MAX Self-Cleaning Litter Box, and while it has some positive aspects, there were a few key issues that prevented it from meeting my expectations.
I have noticed that PetKit came out with a new litter robot. If they want to send one my way, I'll gladly review it with all of these issues in mind. If not, I may buy a new machine if I can't figure out how to conquer litter mountain.
If there is an easier way to quit arguing over who cleans the litter box, I have not found it. Like many have said---If I had to choose between this and my automatic vacuum, PETKIT would win hands down.
It's almost too big. I wanted to put this in a smaller place, but I ended up having to put it somewhere else. No biggie, but just make sure you're aware of the dimensions. I'd put it at 1.5 feet depth, 2 feet heigh, 2 feet width eyeballing it.
But it had several new issues that came with it. It wasn't large enough for our big cats, the urine leakage was not resolved, and as a result we've switched back to the traditional litter box. For the amount I paid for it I feel that the urine leakage should not have been an issue. This should have been fully resolved by PETKIT prior to selling the devices since it was a known issue.
It's quiet, and I mean "Wait, is this thing even on?" quiet. I was afraid my cat would be afraid of it, but it's so quiet she doesn't even know it's going unless she hears some clump hit during the cleaning phase
The app it super handy as well. I guess the only negative thing I’d have to say is I wish the night light stayed on until I turned it off haha but that’s not a big deal❤
We love this. I hate cat litter smell and having to clean litter boxes. This is a great option, super quiet while it’s cleaning, the loudest thing about it is the buttons when they beep.
Deep cleaning it IS a little tedious because there are lots of little nooks and crannies where litter can get stuck. You can clean it all out easily, just takes a while- a design with a smoother / better connection between the pan and the box would be nice, but I can see why it would be challenging.
Overall, this does what it promises. Like most cat litter box robots, it uses rotation to clear the litter. This is something most cat behaviourists say is off-putting to the cat (since you're essentially putting faecal matter and urine clumps on the "toilet" walls) but I wipe once - twice a day to make up for that and my cat's fine with it.
This is probably my final update about this product. While the litter box is still convenient for me as it prevents me from having to clean up after my cat every day, there's just little things that made me go from an original 5 star review to 3 stars, the first being what I call the litter mountain which I brought up in my previous update.
My big boy took right to it, which was very encouraging, but he has never had an enclosed box before and I recently discovered that his behind has been hanging out of the door of the litter box when he pees
The deodorant runs out quickly. And the mat for the front I have never had my cats like mats like that, they always pee on it and force me to hose it down
It is just a simple injection moulded plastic. The built quality is reasonably good but the top cover piece and the dirt net are too thin and have ill-fit during assembly

The only downside I have found so far, and was fairly easy to fix, was that it did not come with a USB Power Adapter. I had an older one from an iPhone / Amazon Device that seemed to work fine - Or at least I haven't had any problems yet. There are two modes, either always on, or "Smart" mode which cycles the filter off and on every 3 minutes.
Honestly the best purchase I’ve EVER made in my life. I have three cats and after years of scooping and scraping litter boxes, I decided to look into an self cleaning one. I was interested in the Litter Robot originally but they seemed rather small and one of my cats is on the larger side so I wasn’t sure if she would fully be able to fit, I compared several different brands and types of litter boxes until I settled on the Petkit
You must regularly clean the unit or it will get gross, like any other box. But it is more difficult to do. The “empty litter” feature does not work well, even with their official litter, and there is no easy dump tray or anything like that.
I also got it and It’s completely hands free, It cleans itself right after my cat uses it, and the odor control is top notch 😜 My house doesn’t smell like a litter box anymore 🤩
Setting it up was pretty easy as there are many stickers pointing you to what’s you need to do to set it up, the app is pretty straight forward as you have to update your litter box! How cool!
I love the app. It does a great job of distinguishing between my girls as there is a 4 lb weight difference. Could be super helpful when trying to monitor potential illnesses. I'm really hoping this feature helps me figure out the poo culprit if it continues.
I’d also like to add that whilst the product was performing its independent cleaning, I noticed that it picked up more clean litter and often times wouldn’t pick up some of the pee clumps and/or poop
The other downside that I have if this isn’t with the box itself but more of the issue that there is a light on the deodorizer that it almost impossible to link up to your phone.

It was set up and running within 30 minutes of taking it out of the box. One of our cats watched me set it up and climbed right in about 5 minutes after it was ready.
@adoniya711 Oh no, that sounds frustrating to deal with! I'm sorry to hear about the urine leaking issue. One solution could be to place a waterproof mat or tray under the device to catch any leaks and make cleanup easier. Hopefully, this helps prevent any further mess and makes the cleaning process less of a hassle for you.
The cat box tells me when it's full, when the particular cat (based on weight) is it has used it, what part of the cleaning cycle it's in and even told me when there was "foreign matter" in a wrong place. I am not a fanatic about cleaning it, but keep it supplied with litter and the fragrance they sell.
This is something that other cat owners have had an issue with! If you have a small to medium sized cat that goes to the bathroom straight down then this machine will change your life lol! My husband and I constantly remark on how much we LOVE this litter box!

The holes of the scooper need to be made more small since it fails to hold the little particles of the poop💩. My kitten got trained & used to it in just 2 days. This product is a big HIT.
I was pleasantly surprised!! I would not buy this particular box again, but after a very good experience with their customer service department, I would definitely be willing to try other products from this manufacturer because they stand behind their products with good customer service.
Overall I really like this. It was a big purchase, and now I've had it for a month and can say it was worth it. Not having to regularly scoop after three cats is big.
The unit sometimes has errors that also require you to clean the unit because you don’t know what is causing it exactly, but cleaning has always resolved for me.
The problem is the location of the sensor that stops the operation of the box if a cat approaches. Petkit situated the sensor in the middle of the base step into the litter box.
It is *big*. Up to this point, our cats have been fine with us designating a closet to a potty box area with litter boxes. But we had to place this machine in it's own room, so it would have space to turn.
Overall, I wish that the new drum design was available during my initial order process and would be interested in trying it again pending other positives reviews that the issue was entirely resolved for them.
This litter box is one of the worst purchasing decisions I've ever made. I wish I had removed my cats' other litter box immediately and made them use this right away so I would have realized just how bad this machine is. Instead, I let the cats get used to it over a couple of weeks
The Petkit is soundless, but very attractive to both my American long hair weighing in at 5 lbs. and my Maine Coon still growing at 22 lbs. They have learned the correct distance to maintain for what is to them THE BIG SHOW! I appreciate the automatic shut-off when a cat gets too close during cleaning since that could result in injury, but the Teddy Blue and Sweet Sue will assume a safe distance and watch with intense interest
It’s simple to set up, stays connected to the wifi, tells you which cat uses it and when they use it, informs you of irregular toileting habits, keeps you updated on when consumables need to be replaced and when the dirty litter needs to be dumped, and it’s really not too difficult to deep clean
It drops poo and pee in a trash can with a lid on it and we never smell it anymore. The machine is super quiet we hardly hear it ever. I’m so happy with it and glad we made this purchase. We are saving a ton in litter cost and I don’t have to scoop it anymore! It has tracked our cats weight successfully.

There are some pointless features such as a social media feed and activity tracking for walking your dog, creating todo lists and reminders. It’s fairly easy to ignore these “features” but it does make the app a little bit clumsy to use.

I will say that the auto litter emptying is not good. My cats will not go in it when there is the amount of litter that is slated for max, so I have to go above that
If you’re on the fence about buying it, go for it! It’s definitely worth the money, especially if you're looking for a hassle-free way to manage your cat’s litter. I honestly don’t think that I can go back to scooping litter.
I will not force my cats to use this , I think they know better than me what they want . Two out of three isn’t bad for the first month , maybe the old kitty will take to this .

For the price the litter box is of adequate quality, the size is not very large it will fit small to medium size cats. The hollow basin doesn’t fit properly but fits just enough. Overall a good purchase for first time litter box buyers

I can't really smell it unless it's going off. The excrement falls exactly where it's supposed to. Looks like it'll only really need a wipe down when changing out to fresh litter.
I did't see from pictures if the seam / side of the box was sealed, as urine can leak from that location as well. Unfortunately, I had returned the unit and unable to test how well this works but if other reviews are positive about these changes I would be willing to give it another shot.
I’ve had some of the issues mentioned in other reviews, but my biggest problem is that it will randomly shut off. I had to put a WiFi plug on the power adapter so I can check if it’s on when I’m not home…
Makes routine litter maintenance about 75% less work. Just empty bag when full and replace, and regularly clean the unit itself as you would a normal box when needed
This litter box has completely replaced my old one. Having this has been a massive time saver as it tells me what’s going on and every time my cat uses the bathroom

Works perfectly with the app! As I previously mentioned, I have the PETKIT automatic feeder and since it’s a little old now, sometimes there’s conflict between the feeder and the app
This device is great for keeping the litter box clean for your cats - it automatically cleans the box after your cats use it, and you can change the settings to determine just how long after they've been in the box the cleaning process starts, or you can set it to run at specific times
On that note, my cat likes to use it facing the back of the barrel, and has a tendency to pee onto the mat sitting in front of the unit. I’d say she’s at about an 90% success rate of peeing in the barrel
The waterproof mat on the bottom of machine is known for not fully sealing at the edges. Cats who pee against or at the wall might cause leakage. The mat is designed to removable so maybe that's why.
The scale is very accurate and I like that it tracks my cats weight and bathroom habits. You do loose the ability to check your cats waste daily to make sure everything looks alright but I just open the waste compartment and peek inside. You can easily see if you cat has a stomach ache or something.
It's a bit of an investment, but the time and hassle it saves make it worth every penny. Highly recommend it to any cat owner looking for a top-notch solution!
Right now I'm very happy. I honestly think it was worth it for the tech, features, and functionality of the machine. Most of the parts seem to be of decent or high quality.
I am not sure if this is with all the other products or if mine is slightly defective. I thought I was done with manually removing litter to clean the machine, but I guess I was wrong.
Like others, my cat aims high which would result in occasional urine underneath the cylinder. I tried flex seal caulk (didn't work) and ultimately have found that strips of vinyl tape around the seam where the cylinder meets the removable litter bowl is the best bet.
Wish I had gotten one years ago, I just wish this one was a larger capacity in the collection bin. I’ll update this review if I start to notice anything else
It is amazingly quiet. For me thats more important because cats are usually skitish and more nervous around loud, unusual noises (especially true for my older cat). The deodorizer works well and has a pleasant scent, not over powering, while also essentially silent. I can't really smell it unless it's going off.

They need to include a printed instruction manual. I'm pretty savvy so I can scan a few QR codes and get it set up, but there's going to be people that buy this and immediately call support. They need to address this ASAP or there's going to be some unhappy folks leaving bad reviews from what I can tell.
The waste collection bin is only open for a few seconds at the end of a cleaning cycle, and then seals shut. So far this box has been completely odor free.
This automatic litter box is ultra quiet when operating. My friend has a Litter Robot and that this is ridiculously loud. They only reason I can hear my operating is because you can here the little rolling around. You can only heard the mechanics of the automatic litter box working if you are standing next to it.

I had a Litter Robot previously but I was looking for a smaller profile. I have almost always been happy with this PetKit and I've had it over a year now. My primary beefs are that customer assistance is almost impossible to find and that the app asks for lots of personal information that I am reluctant to share
The app is a little finicky but with a little patience it was very straightforward getting the Puramax connected to the wifi and odor eliminator attachment.
I do really like this litterbox and it makes a 1 bedroom apartment with two cats much, much better. I look forward to Petkit's next product, which hopefully will have a bigger interior and will fix some of the other problems- especially the leak!

As previously stated, it’s extremely quiet but the litter rolling around is louder and could possibly wake someone up if the machine is close to them while sleeping.
Where this shines to me is the simplicity of the design/parts. As an example, the filter part has an attachment that covers all the holes to use for putting all litter in the waste. Simple idea, no extra moving parts, and it takes very little effort.

The autonomous features of the Purobot are quite remarkable. It’s a true innovation in pet hygiene.
My only wish list item that I can think of would be a feature to auto turn the light on when the cat is in the box so they can see.
You will still have to do some dirty work - the tumbling and sifting of used cat litter means the inside of the box will come into contact with the stuff being scooped.
I have had this robotic litterbox for a year and a half and feel ready to leave a review. All in all, I think this box was worth it. However, there are some flaws as well.

The sound of the litter sliding around inside is much louder than the motor. It moves relatively slowly and seems very “non-threatening” to our 2 cats.
Works great, but be sure to open the waste tray and shake it a bit every day or two. I didn't, and it backed up into the tunnel after like 5 days. The buttons don't seem to work right, but the app does. I use it vs the buttons for this reason. Weight isn't always accurate
The refills are kind of expensive so I’d recommend off brand if you can find a good replacement.

I use fresh step cat litter , and that works great . I use a cup to put in fresh litter , as my box is under a table I don’t use the spray that comes with this, as I’m not sure my cats would be comfortable with the smell
The total time it takes to clean is around a couple minutes at max it doesn’t make any mess as it keeps most of it inside when my cat comes out.
It gives your cats a clean litter box to use throughout the day, if they are clean then you and your house are clean.

The engineering of this product works well. The sensor is sensitive, the motor runs smoothly. It works well when it works well! But the design is flawed.

The de-odorizing features are also so nice to have as an option! Cleaning is a BREEZE, as there’s no enclosed litter reservoir, so there’s no chamber where waste might get stuck in but you can’t access to clean (like the LR has).
It gets dirty very quickly. I wipe the inside at least once a week.
The air purifier and ability to weigh your cat via the PetKit app is very smart.

Although I was not a fan of this litter box, I was very impressed with the customer service. After leaving a less-than-flattering Amazon review of the product, I was surprised to hear from their customer service department, which reached out to me to find out more about the problems and offer some solutions.
Once my husband set it up it was not clear or easy to add an additional family member to the account. We even tried to call customer service to try and get this worked out and it was still weird and clunky.
Should let you configure weight ranges for your cats rather than a single with, this would let the device do a better job detecting which cat rather than having to manually identify if they light touch or their weight varies a bit over time.
They explained my WiFi didn’t have to stay at the lower speed for the box to work once it was set up, and that turned out to be true. Now that it’s working I’m sure hoping my other 2 cats will eventually get comfortable using it.

I was really hopeful when I purchased this that it would work as described. We have larger cats and based on reviews that this was great for larger cats because it was a larger size. I know previously there were complaints about urine leaking under the base and collecting but that this issue had supposedly been resolved.
That is another incredible plus about this company! For what it is worth, they have a pretty good product and they seem to work hard to keep their customers happy.
It’s not nearly as heavy, but just as sturdy and well assembled. It was super easy to set up, and the app, although it isn’t quite AS nice to use as the LR app, is perfectly functional
It likes to disconnect from the internet, and sometimes reads wrong from its sensor so make sure it’s not facing any furniture or a wall, and keep the sensor clean

After doing everything we could to ensure it worked out for our cats we have thrown in the towel. It was not large enough for our cats and many times they would end up having accidents that were outside the device.

Those with smaller cats, or just one cat, would presumably have longer between emptying the bin. I wouldn't have minded it being larger capacity, but this size is better than scooping 4x per day! I prefer to wait on writing reviews to make sure the honeymoon period is over, and honestly I rarely have thought about the litter in the last month-and-a-half. Which is exactly what I was hoping for. I'll edit should any major issues arise.

I take them apart to clean about once a month. I have to replace the litter receptical bags about every 5 days. They are silent.
It does have some nooks and crannies that are a bit difficult to reach but it comes apart easy enough. I usually take the barrel outside once a week to give it a really good scrub down

Earlier my biggest problem with a litter tray was that at times my cat would use the litter tray more than usual and once it was filled she would poo/pee in the house. Since I got this automated litter box, things have been so much easier. It cleans the litter automatically and moves the clumps into a bag

Also the litter removal tool is useless, it’s easier to take the cylinder off with the litter inside and empty through one of the side holes. I then wipe up everything, vacuum all the cracks and crevices and set back into place to fill with fresh little. Takes about 20-30min total for a good clean
I had used a Litter Robot 3, and as it aged, the smell of urine got worse and worse. When a part broke out of warranty, I went looking for options specifically for 2 rather large cats. The deal on this one caught my eye, and though I was nervous about reviews that indicated urine pooling at the bottom, so far I have had no issues of any kind with this!

So I was super skeptical about this litter box, but since buying my initial Puramax, I've since purchased a second because I love this thing so much.
Setting it up was easy, everything was mentioned in the user manual and operation video. My cat started using it from day 1.
It catches some but is a bit small for their use I suppose. The mat wasn't at all my reason for buying it but suppose it could be noted.
Right now I'm very happy.
Like any cleaning robot, You do need to work with it so it will work with you. I wish I bought one sooner, I am happy with my purchase.
That said, this litter box has some serious flaws and it became very clear what was faulty after I had to replace this one with a different one.
I had the litter box connected and then tried to connect the air deodorizer that I bought with it. The litter box connected and then when I connected the deodorizer the litter box wasn’t connected.

With all the deodorizer spray + square and their official tofu litter, you can not smell it, even in a confined space. And I mean, you don’t just not smell the feces and urine, you do not even smell the litter.

The machine is very cumbersome to fully clean. You can do weekly maintenance by wiping down the inner drum with a cleaning wipe which is fine, but to deep clean it fully with water is very awkward given the size and numerous nooks and crannies.

I recently tried out the PETKIT PURA MAX Self-Cleaning Litter Box, and while it has some positive aspects, there were a few key issues that prevented it from meeting my expectations.
I have noticed that PetKit came out with a new litter robot. If they want to send one my way, I'll gladly review it with all of these issues in mind. If not, I may buy a new machine if I can't figure out how to conquer litter mountain.
If there is an easier way to quit arguing over who cleans the litter box, I have not found it. Like many have said---If I had to choose between this and my automatic vacuum, PETKIT would win hands down.
The self-cleaning feature is such a lifesaver less mess for me to handle also It’s super sleek and blends well with my home decor.
It's almost too big. I wanted to put this in a smaller place, but I ended up having to put it somewhere else. No biggie, but just make sure you're aware of the dimensions. I'd put it at 1.5 feet depth, 2 feet heigh, 2 feet width eyeballing it.
But it had several new issues that came with it. It wasn't large enough for our big cats, the urine leakage was not resolved, and as a result we've switched back to the traditional litter box. For the amount I paid for it I feel that the urine leakage should not have been an issue. This should have been fully resolved by PETKIT prior to selling the devices since it was a known issue.
But if the power goes off once then we will have to be clean it by own.

It's quiet, and I mean "Wait, is this thing even on?" quiet. I was afraid my cat would be afraid of it, but it's so quiet she doesn't even know it's going unless she hears some clump hit during the cleaning phase
Fine litter works best, so I would recommend that (we use special kitty brand), unless you want a mess.
The app it super handy as well. I guess the only negative thing I’d have to say is I wish the night light stayed on until I turned it off haha but that’s not a big deal❤

Deep cleaning it IS a little tedious because there are lots of little nooks and crannies where litter can get stuck. You can clean it all out easily, just takes a while- a design with a smoother / better connection between the pan and the box would be nice, but I can see why it would be challenging.
Overall, this does what it promises. Like most cat litter box robots, it uses rotation to clear the litter. This is something most cat behaviourists say is off-putting to the cat (since you're essentially putting faecal matter and urine clumps on the "toilet" walls) but I wipe once - twice a day to make up for that and my cat's fine with it.
This is probably my final update about this product. While the litter box is still convenient for me as it prevents me from having to clean up after my cat every day, there's just little things that made me go from an original 5 star review to 3 stars, the first being what I call the litter mountain which I brought up in my previous update.

I've had the litter robot operational and available for 24 hours. Both girls have used it multiple times today, back to back this last time in which I took the photos when I got home from work. It seems like they've exclusively switched to using it already. They are obsessed with watching it go through its cleaning cycle
The only downside is cleaning the inside of the box, but I can live with that as I had to do that with a regular tray too!❤

The only downside I have found so far, and was fairly easy to fix, was that it did not come with a USB Power Adapter. I had an older one from an iPhone / Amazon Device that seemed to work fine - Or at least I haven't had any problems yet. There are two modes, either always on, or "Smart" mode which cycles the filter off and on every 3 minutes.
Honestly the best purchase I’ve EVER made in my life. I have three cats and after years of scooping and scraping litter boxes, I decided to look into an self cleaning one. I was interested in the Litter Robot originally but they seemed rather small and one of my cats is on the larger side so I wasn’t sure if she would fully be able to fit, I compared several different brands and types of litter boxes until I settled on the Petkit
You must regularly clean the unit or it will get gross, like any other box. But it is more difficult to do. The “empty litter” feature does not work well, even with their official litter, and there is no easy dump tray or anything like that.

I love the app. It does a great job of distinguishing between my girls as there is a 4 lb weight difference. Could be super helpful when trying to monitor potential illnesses. I'm really hoping this feature helps me figure out the poo culprit if it continues.
I’d also like to add that whilst the product was performing its independent cleaning, I noticed that it picked up more clean litter and often times wouldn’t pick up some of the pee clumps and/or poop
The other downside that I have if this isn’t with the box itself but more of the issue that there is a light on the deodorizer that it almost impossible to link up to your phone.

It was set up and running within 30 minutes of taking it out of the box. One of our cats watched me set it up and climbed right in about 5 minutes after it was ready.
The urine leaking under the device was not resolved and was absolutely disgusting to have to clean up when cleaning the entire device.

The cat box tells me when it's full, when the particular cat (based on weight) is it has used it, what part of the cleaning cycle it's in and even told me when there was "foreign matter" in a wrong place. I am not a fanatic about cleaning it, but keep it supplied with litter and the fragrance they sell.

The problem is the location of the sensor that stops the operation of the box if a cat approaches. Petkit situated the sensor in the middle of the base step into the litter box.

It is *big*. Up to this point, our cats have been fine with us designating a closet to a potty box area with litter boxes. But we had to place this machine in it's own room, so it would have space to turn.

This litter box is one of the worst purchasing decisions I've ever made. I wish I had removed my cats' other litter box immediately and made them use this right away so I would have realized just how bad this machine is. Instead, I let the cats get used to it over a couple of weeks
The Petkit is soundless, but very attractive to both my American long hair weighing in at 5 lbs. and my Maine Coon still growing at 22 lbs. They have learned the correct distance to maintain for what is to them THE BIG SHOW! I appreciate the automatic shut-off when a cat gets too close during cleaning since that could result in injury, but the Teddy Blue and Sweet Sue will assume a safe distance and watch with intense interest
Though large, it may not seal completely under certain conditions, allowing odor leaks and it will make the whole home's atmosphere dirty 😢

I’ve heard that the waste compartment can fill up quickly, so if you’re gone for several days, it may become a problem

Setup instructions were confusing and incomplete
I found the Litter Robot to be much more. efficient than myself. at scooping the clumps out and not wasting as much.
There are some pointless features such as a social media feed and activity tracking for walking your dog, creating todo lists and reminders. It’s fairly easy to ignore these “features” but it does make the app a little bit clumsy to use.
They explained my WiFi didn’t have to stay at the lower speed for the box to work once it was set up, and that turned out to be true. Now that it’s working I’m sure hoping my other 2 cats will eventually get comfortable using it.
I will say that the auto litter emptying is not good. My cats will not go in it when there is the amount of litter that is slated for max, so I have to go above that

I did't see from pictures if the seam / side of the box was sealed, as urine can leak from that location as well. Unfortunately, I had returned the unit and unable to test how well this works but if other reviews are positive about these changes I would be willing to give it another shot.

On that note, my cat likes to use it facing the back of the barrel, and has a tendency to pee onto the mat sitting in front of the unit. I’d say she’s at about an 90% success rate of peeing in the barrel
The waste drawer could be a little bigger; I empty it more often than expected.
The waterproof mat on the bottom of machine is known for not fully sealing at the edges. Cats who pee against or at the wall might cause leakage. The mat is designed to removable so maybe that's why.

You can easily see if you cat has a stomach ache or something.

I am not sure if this is with all the other products or if mine is slightly defective. I thought I was done with manually removing litter to clean the machine, but I guess I was wrong.
Like others, my cat aims high which would result in occasional urine underneath the cylinder. I tried flex seal caulk (didn't work) and ultimately have found that strips of vinyl tape around the seam where the cylinder meets the removable litter bowl is the best bet.
Wish I had gotten one years ago, I just wish this one was a larger capacity in the collection bin. I’ll update this review if I start to notice anything else

It is amazingly quiet. For me thats more important because cats are usually skitish and more nervous around loud, unusual noises (especially true for my older cat). The deodorizer works well and has a pleasant scent, not over powering, while also essentially silent. I can't really smell it unless it's going off.

They need to include a printed instruction manual. I'm pretty savvy so I can scan a few QR codes and get it set up, but there's going to be people that buy this and immediately call support. I had a Litter Robot previously but I was looking for a smaller profile. I have almost always been happy with this PetKit and I've had it over a year now. My primary beefs are that customer assistance is almost impossible to find and that the app asks for lots of personal information that I am reluctant to share
