Thanks for this reminder Graham! I started my first business (online bookkeeping) in 2017 with the exact same goal in mind: simplicity & it worked! I was able to create a biz around the life I desired. And now I’m trying to do the same with a life coaching / course creation biz. It’s been much harder to stay focused on my goal of simplicity because of all the ‘noise’ out there about what I ‘should’ be doing! After 2 years of spinning my wheels I’m finally getting clear on what really matters! I’m excited to start 2023 with more clarity (& less overwhelm)! 😊

This has been on my mind , wondering , thinking , researching, for about a year . Slowly , knowing I need to change my career, wondering how and what and then the last 4 months or so , researching . Today it clicked , it clicked with you . Info overload is an understatement, dropshipping , affiliate……I don’t even want to go down the list . I’m 48 I’ve done construction all my life , I want time and financial freedom , construction isn’t really scalable and it’s my time , to much , for money not to mention ware and tare on my body . Something, something…….. you are my something, I think I’ve finally found my place , my path and I think you are gonna be my light at the end of the tunnel . 👊🏼🤘🏼🙏🏼
I'm so happy you are mentioning you should have a business that suits you and your lifestyle. I've been doing things that did make me money (webinars, discovery calls) but didn't suit me. Now building my business as I want to but it feels like building it from scratch sometimes. But I've always figured things out in my life so it will be the same for this. As always, thank you Graham.
I want to do an IT career advancement / skills channel which is tough because it's already pretty competitive on youtube and e-courses. I keep getting hung up on my "Why." Usually someone's "Why" is hating their 9-5 job and terrible pay but I like my job, the pay, and the people I work with... but my heart wants to do my own business. Turned 37 this year and I'm just like "What am I doing? Why haven't I done this yet?". I feel like the more money I make with my job and dependent my family is on that money the harder it is for me to get started on something like this.

This year I was able to build a small following online with a vlog, but still not sure how to monetize it. Or how to turn my expertise into a business. I'm writing a book right now so that I have something to sell rather than like you're saying "trading time for money" as a coach/consultant. After that, I want to expand on the book and make an online training course. But the whole process feels like a struggle because I haven't made a penny in spite of all the time and energy I've already put into my blog. Also I had to pick up a part time job to keep supporting myself and it turned out to be a real drag on my energy. I think I've lost focus as half the time I'm trying to find a new part time job to escape the current one, which is distracting me from what I really care about.
Hi Graham, here's what I just don't get: From day one on this channel (and also your recording revolution channel) your vidoes got thousands of views. Like this channel. Your first videos got 4k to 6k views. And that has continued solid. My videos get 30 or 40 views regardless of title or description. I could use your exact title, read a transcript of your video into a teleprompter. And it's still only getting under 100 views. I don't get it. On a brand new channel getting 2k for 4k views from day 1 just seems increddible unless you're Mr. Beast.
