I started to use the interval tuning on my gig kit a year ago and it has made a big difference on my sound. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience Kenny!
Just wanted to drop you a note, Mr. Sharrets. After watching and rewatching(many many times) all your videos with your new Rogers Covington Series Drums, I had to get some of my own so I did! I just received my Rogers Covington Drum Kit in Red Ripple with matching 5x14 and 6.5x14 Rogers Dynasonics. I opted for the 22, 12, and 16 shell pack and added a 14x14 floor. You sir are a great Ambassador for the rebirth of the legendary Rogers brand. I'm a Rogers man now thanks to you.❤❤❤
Man i’m totally humbled, and welcome to the Rogers fam. I’m with you. I loooove these drums. I eventually got the 22” and a 16” floor. Love both setups. Especially the color. 🙌🙌🙌. Thank you so much for the kind words. 🙌🙌🙌
Hi Kenny it's me...I can't persuade my wife anymore to sit on drumheads while tuning 😅 I am using one of your snare settings. Start with fundamental 196 hz after playing it goes down to 193 hz also the reso is not so tight anymore do you always have to detuning it again. Thanks Dutch drummer living in Austria 😊
I'm new to your channel Kenny, I love your vids, very informative, have You always played on Roger's kits? They always sound so good, Are they maple? I always love the Crack of those snares. Thanks for putting these vids out there for the garage drummer.....

Yes I do. I have several. I’ve been using my Yamaha EAD10, but my videos cover several models of drum pads. If I was going to add e cyms, I would move to my DTX 700z Beyond that here’s a link to a vid on triggering black holes w/ 3 different units. RTOM BLACK HOLE TRIGGERS REVIEW w/ A TRIGGER PROGRAMMING LESSON FOR 3 DRUM BRAINS ruclips.net/video/odRwfKOjYRI/видео.html And one using Evans Mesh Heads and the EAD10 EAD10 EVANS SOUND OFF MESH HEAD TRIGGER KIT W/ SETTINGS (How To Trigger Drums) ruclips.net/video/0lAAUz30S4U/видео.html
I’ve heard from quite a few sources “you tension drums, not tune them” or “specific pitches don’t matter” and I’m like you obviously have never seen any of Kenny Sharretts videos have you?
Lolol thank you. Tensioning is an applicable description as well. The reality is on my gig with the Dead for example I HAVE TO tune to notes. So for those who say you don’t tune drums to notes? I have to strongly disagree. Tension to me refers to the feel of the drum. Pitches refer to the tone. Thank you so much for watching, and commenting.
New subscriber for a couple of weeks now. Really enjoy these videos. Can u make a video about your set up to make youtube videos...ie mic-laptop mix, camera equipment set up, and software...thanks in advance
Great Video Kenny, quick question, whats your opinion on cast aluminium snares drums, im really thinking of getting one but are they more dark sound than say steel, and would diecast hoops suit them better than the pearl superhoop thats on them?
I love aluminum snares. Got a ‘62 Ludalloy Supraphonic that is awesome. Yes a bit more character (with dare I say a bit warmer sound than steel) , and an unmistakable poosh at any tension. Super hoop’s should be the best of both worlds on that drum. Just note aluminum rings. A lot! Much appreciation as always.
Thank you so much for the kind words, and for watching. I saw your comment on my shoutout video for my new low price annual plans. I can wholeheartedly say that the lessons will not only teach you how to tune well, but you will also learn to tune quickly. No more time wasted struggling. Just quick, easy to get repeatable tunings every time you tune. Check em out as it helps to support my work while arming you with killer tuning skills. www.kennysharretts.com/video-courses

@kennysharretts Hey Bro. My condolences, man. I dont have a direct line to DM you, but know that you are loved and being thought about.
Thank you so much for your kindness. I’m doing my best to survive this.
The notes that you were tuning are they lug frequencies? Or fundamental frequency?
I tend to tune to the lug pitch . I find it to be more consistent. Thank you for watching, and commenting.
