been around beetles for over 40yrs seen a lot of changes but still somethings look the same but this is a work of art you should be so proud i could sit and look at this for ever, the devil is in the detail
Kool Kar. Always wanted a split window VW and a split window Vette. My VW was an oval window '57 and my Vette a '77 coupe. I do have a split window '39 Ford coupe since 1975.
Finally a Volkswagen that costs more than the most expensive Tesla .. This Volkswagen has to be in the range of $95000, plus this is only the 2nd 1949 beetle I have seen fixed up like this the last one I've seen was at the California Speedway show In the back drag way,, Nice job I don't think I would have put an air ride suspension on this year but I guess you do what you wanna do that's just me..
Love the bodywork and colour, a little confused about the late hubs with early wheel adapters, lack of alternator/generator and why a rear engine car with no horsepower needs a hydraulic handbrake, but i guess, each to their own.
on early vw the handbreak came out at the front of the car between the front axle tubes,i had a 53 with that setup cables were a pain in the arse to get hold of ,that was 30 years ago they must be non existant now !!!
..A '49?..a very rare and valuable car!..so..why f*ck it up with these suspension mods and horrendous wheels?...plenty of late '60's-mid '70's Beetles to do that to..if you were set on split windows, you can add that to a later car, too...without screwing up a rare early Beetle... :(
@@ronkemp9528 ..because they are rare, valuable, and historic....and there are many more, much more common cars that can be f*cked up like this if someone so desires..yes, it's just a f*cking car...so is a '71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda convertible, and a '32 Duesenberg...but thankfully, most people know better than to f*ck them up "customizing" them....
@@dyer2cycle No one would customize a Duesenberg that would be pointless and the Cuda gets customized all the time to bring them up to date. Now this guy has a 49 bug he can drive and enjoy. Its not some trailer queen sitting in a garage somewhere.
@@ronkemp9528 ...forget it, you just don't get it.. :(...and no, nobody but a complete idiot would customize a '71 Hemi Cuda...they're worth a million dollars or more, numbers matching....
What's "butchered"? The body looks stock. They probably brought it back from a rusty hulk. This is a showpiece for a company that makes chassis components.

Those are some god awful wheels
Its ok to be wrong lol
Looks like super hi quality body & paint, then ruined by modern gayness.

Why would you drive that? Some moron would certainly hit it.
Maybe take it out on a sports car track and putt around.
