The sideways 4 keeps the center of gravity very low which is why these bike feel so nimble. That said, it is also the reason that they smoke when you start them which is no indication that the engine is badly worn. I have a BMW K1200 LT I picked up here in Oregon. It is recommended that if you get one you should replace the suspension springs because with age they sag down under the nearly 800 lbs and it becomes more difficult to put them on the center stand which is very helpful with the smoke on start issue they have as well.
I ride a 2012 Honda GoldWing, but have considered one of these BMW tourers. Are you sure it is only a five-speed? I find myself reaching for a non-existent 6th gear on my GoldWing. And not for nothing, but my second motorcycle, a 1981 Suzuki GS750ET, had a gear indicator, something I would appreciate but even the 2021 GoldWing does not have if I am not mistaken. Motorcycle manufacturers should being back kick-starters as well.

I'd like to see you guys review a K1600GTL :-).
Not to spoil your fun, but this ‘rumble’ at low rev’s is NOT a good sign…
The problem with BMWs is shorter folks can't ride them. Way too tall. Love their bikes but at 5'6" the road glide or street glide fit way better
Do these bikes feel super big and bulky around town?
+Ehrfd Rfd na, your body acclimates itself to the very powerful brakes
Nice.
I'm 65 yrs old is this a heavy bike?
Im 66 yes it is 838 lbs. Im. 5’4 😂😮 and I love it is just part of the fun no fear 😳🥱😎👍😩🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸☠️
have a same bike 2007
That's not a 2004, at least know what you are reviewing. It's 2002 or earlier model.
Looks exactly like the 04 we have
