Technically speaking, we don’t know the specifics of what does and doesn’t constitute a war crime in Star Wars. Yeah attacking during a negotiation is frowned upon in our society, but considering one of the Trade Federation’s first actions is to attack ambassadors, that may not be the case in a galaxy far far away.
@@jedimasterdraco6950 The Trade Federation was a corporation, it wasn't a war, and Sidious strong armed them to attack the Jedi. They weren't going to do it normally, in fact they say in the movie they intend to cave to the negotiations.
@@LordVader1094 That doesn't change the fact that they DID attack and there didn't seem to be any particular outage. And the Jedi didn't become aware that the Sith were behind that incident until the Clone Wars.
How is destroying an enemy carrier a war crime?
It strikes me with the line about memories carved in stone or sand: as far as the galaxy at large knows, it's very, very likely that most of the galaxy will forget how noble the clones were, how earnest and steadfast their defense of a Republic they were born solely to fight for was. They'll only remember Order 66, the ones who went on to become Stormtroopers. I hope, for the sake of their memory, that more clones like Rex and company went on to serve in the Rebel Alliance, to restore the Republic and the honor of their brothers.

Another thing that never occurred to me was how the GAR just sends clones and ships into what is essentially a suicide mission. I mean, look at that first scene: they’re falling like flies and the brass is just; lol there goes another assault craft
@@tommypeds Yeah it looks like half of the company was obliterated before they even touched down, and by the end when they are liberating the civilians its down to Kenobi, Waxer, Boil, Cody and like five other clones. Goes to show how Obi-Wan's insistence on "not destroying their home" or putting civilians at risk really cost the lives of many, many clones. The Empire on the other hand could be much more effective even with inferior quality troops because their commanders did not hold back.
@@Clumsy-vp3if More effective in the short term, but the resentment such tactics bred is what eventually led to the downfall of the Empire.
@@LordVader1094what Kenobi did was a sound call and that the lives lost were not in vain.

I have a hard time thinking of a Sabaton song that can't apply to Clone Wars. But this works for every trooper of the GAR. Written in stone or in sand...
All the friendly fire that shouldn't have been if it was on the ground I put the flag in a window cause I remember all the nonsense wars sometimes wash them and put them on th walls

@@MarshalShayCormac yes, there's a clone one which fits because most clones were educated somewhat with Mandalorian knowledge by the ones who don't exist. Text evidence in Karin Traviss's Republic Commando novels.
