- Shawn & Mike were lucky enough to both draw NM Elk tags and are headed west to visit long-time friend Eddie Ortega from Hunters New Mexico. While they had both hunted there before and had a pretty good idea of what to expect, neither of them could have imagined just how crazy the hunt would go. Here is Shawn's incredible hunt to kickoff Part 1 of the week!

Hey guys big big fan of the show. Question do you guys use cover scents (like hunter specialist wafers). And what deer lure do you guys like ? That any advice in the scent world is much appreciated thanks …..
@mikemchugh9164 hey man, appreciate the support! Thank you for watching. We use Nose Jammer as more of a cover scent to basically drown out our own odor. It works pretty well and have used it for a few years now. We don’t use deer scents just because we don’t typically believe in them. Nothing against them it’s just not our style of hunting to use them. Hope this helps and good luck this Fall!

Man hopefully we pass each other as you’re entering and while I’m leaving Colorado with another big bull sticking out of my truck bed. You might also see a Muley sitting next to it but it might be harder to notice.

@jacobalbaugh1007 it does look long in that shot. I assure you it’s not though. Anchor is on the side of my mouth and tip of my nose.
Looks like there is a ground blind at the other side of the water hole. Why didn't you sit in it?

Absolutely part of the hunt. And glad it was good. I saw a whole lot of cameras, filming, and packing horns. But hardly anything around procuring meat. I’ll ask, isn’t that the primary objective?

You guys put out awesome content but why would you steal the meat eater clickbait All of meat eaters latest official hunts have the exact same feeling as your thumbnail not sure why you guys feel the need to make it look so similar just kind of hacky in my opinion......
We put a lot of work into our thumbnails to best depict the hunt content. Shawn was hunting elk in New Mexico and this depicts just that. There was no copy from MeatEater but their thumbnails look professional IMO.
