Both cities got shafted from the league big time and the NBA recognizes it. Of the the three PNW cities Portland is the smallest of the three. The fanbases in Washington state, & in Vancouver, BC & western Canada are all different then the fanbase in Portland. Besides by also adding Seattle and Vancouver back into the NBA geographically aligns the league a whole lot better and would help west coast teams, especially Portland save a lot of distance on travel. Also both Portland and Vancouver only have 1 pro sports franchise in each city so I have no idea on what you mean by them “eating” the market share. Also to mention there’s a lot of east coast team that are alot closer then the three major PNW cities. Lastly, Seattle and Vancouver both have established and separate fanbases. I know the NBA is going to make amends for its previous mistakes, at this point it’s just only a matter of time.

Definitely need them back but I absolutely do not want to add anymore nba teams. I don’t think basketball is a sport that can have good parity with too many teams.
Looking back at it now, the 80s add some deep teams. The league added like 7 teams from the late 80s and many star players were spread out and didn’t when against teams with two stars. Once great players joined forces, the media called them superteams but that was once the norm in the 80s.
It put star players in a position to make the playoffs year in and year out but never have a chance to really win a title. The team would also have no chance of getting quality draft picks. Most teams just can’t develop talent like the spurs.
