Schulz, the founder of Starbucks, based in Seattle, was the owner of the sonics at the time they were sold to a group that moved them.
The group they sold it to promised the city of Seattle they wouldn't move then got sued and had to pay the city when they did anyway
@@balancedbeats7959 promises are not legally binding, and the new owner didn’t pay the city of Seattle over it.
@@Bidwellz9 it was stipulated in the purchase contract for the team. Yes they had to pay but that doesn’t matter anyway. Seattle still could do well with another team. If the NBA expands, they would be a great city to return a team to
@@Bidwellz9did they pinkie promise? Or were they crossing their fingers behind their back?
Sonics where losing money at that time and the ownership wanted a bigger arena. The seattle council don't want to pay for the extension of the arena or build a new arena. So shultz have to sell the team. Must be pretty bad if the new ownership was willing to pay 75mil to leave seattle.
As a person who lives in Seattle I disagree, this city gets rid of anything that starts to be successful. It happens to the musicians, to the Seahawks after the SB win and of course the sonics. The Kraken are likely next.
Just cuz he's loud doesn't mean he's right..fact check please!
Seattle tried to steal my Kings, but we said F NO. Don't even think about it, try someone else 😂.
The thunder is not the sonics especially now. Were so far removed from that.
Thank you!!!! I need my Sonics back!!!!!!
Been a Sonics' fan since 72..They meant the world to me. However this 'new" NBA" is totally unwatchable. I'll keep my memories.
The jerseys was
Fire asf 2
The NBA owned the hornets at the time it was total bullshit to let someone from OKC buy the team and pretend he wasn’t moving them. Within 24hrs of the sale the move was announced 🤦♂️ circus out here. Balmer made his billions in Seattle move the clippers up there.
Seattle is a Beautiful Town Also Facts.
so is okc
Its commie town with Antifa running around.
I hate Seahawks but 2013 would've been wild for Seattle
Hopefully bring sonics and a Vegas team as well.
I've been pissed at the NBA ever since.....
Better start adding more teams then like Seattle, St Louis, Kansas City, etc
