Upgrade to 11 since this feature. Support my working so f* good
I have clicked download, but then it is showing "Setting up live captions" for a while now(~15 mins). How much time does it normally take?
Unless your internet connection is extremely slow, I wouldn't expect it to take that long. If you are connected to a VPN or similar, maybe try disconnecting it.
Alternatively, try restarting your PC as it may already be downloaded and just not registering as such.
Hello Paul, do you know how to save live captions in a text file like word or notepad??
Unfortunately, that isn't possible using the Live Captions feature in Windows. Maybe you can suggest it to the Windows team using the Feedback Hub. You can submit feedback using the keyboard shortcut Win+F.
The closest you can get currently is using the Dictation feature to type using your voice. This won't work for system audio though unfortunately.
@@paulomalley can it translate?
@@zmite6114 Currently, it can not.
I wouldn't be surprised if that functionality comes along here soon enough as Microsoft has their own Translator app already.
@@paulomalley if it does come out it would be a godsend feature anyways thank you for answering my question
Not a problem.
Sorry it took me so long. RUclips didn't notify me about your reply for some reason.
is it possible to translate live caption? for example if language is not english can we translate into English in this app?
Unfortunately, that is not an option currently. I have seen a few people ask about it, and it seems like a natural next step for this feature, but it isn't possible at this time.
I would suggest supplying this feedback directly to the Windows team by using the keyboard shortcut WIN+F when you are using the captions.
This will open the feedback hub on your PC and enable you to pass this request along to the team.
Does anyone know how to translate the live captions into a different language?
Unfortunately, that is not an option currently. I would suggest supplying this feedback directly to the Windows team by using the keyboard shortcut WIN+F when you are using the captions.
This will open the feedback hub on your PC and enable you to pass this request along to the team.
thanks for the video. i activated it but i don't see the captions language option like you showed in the video
Are you saying that the option to add a language is not there at all, or that you just can't choose another language?
When i click windows ctrl L it locks my computer?
Interesting. That sounds like the CTRL key isn't being registered when you press it as WIN+L is the shortcut to lock your PC.
Can you confirm for me that your Windows 11 installation is up to date and you have the captions option in the accessibility settings?
Is it just me or the Opacity setting doesn't change anything? Help!
I have just tested this on my machine now. I am able to replicate the issue you mentioned.
I am running an Insider Build of Windows on my device, but the issue is still here.
Can I ask you to submit Feedback to the Windows team regarding this? When you have the captions running on your machine, press WIN+F to activate the feedback hub and provide them the details on your experience. You may not specifically hear back from the Windows team regarding it (they get a lot of feedback), but this is the best way to get your feedback over to them directly.
how do i copy text the from live captions
Unfortunately, that currently isn't possible to do.
I have seen others asking for a similar feature to but I don't know if the Windows team are looking to build it.
You could possibly look at using the Voice Typing feature in Windows instead, but I can't speak to how good it is for content being played on your device. It is more built for use with your Microphone.
@@paulomalleyi am looking for something that will allot me to copy live caption text. I want to copy the transcript live
@@ZZYDDD As far as built in features are concerned, the only option for something like this in Windows 11 is the Voice Typing feature - ruclips.net/video/v-0yMcUF17Y/видео.html - which can transcribe but may not be suitable depending on what you hope to achieve.
There is also the transcribe feature in OneNote - ruclips.net/video/W8nYHccYQog/видео.html - but keep in mind that both this and the Voice Typing feature are very similar in functionality.
I would suggest giving them both a test and see if they can meet your needs. I don't do that very often myself, so I haven't really looked into options from third party companies, but there is likely to be some (but chances are they would be paid).
@paulomalley I am looking for something like live captions. And I want to copy the text in the captions From computer audio
it works for live call on ringcentral?
I don't see why it shouldn't work. But I don't have the ability to test Ring Central, so I can't say for sure.
@@paulomalleyTy sir
It would be better, if I'm watching a Korean movie or other languages, the live caption could translate directly into English.
Yeah, I definitely agree with you there.
I know that this is possible since there is a similar feature in Microsoft Teams (but it is a paid extra at the moment).
Given this though, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft are able to bring it to Windows eventually.
it is not downloading, i dunno why?
Generally, if a language pack is failing to download, I would suggest making sure all Windows updates are completed, restart the PC and make sure the date and time are correct on your device before trying again.
how can i copy the captions into a file ?

@@paulomalley i think it maybe because of the copyright issues
Maybe, but I think it is more likely just because it is a relatively new feature to Windows.
There is a wide range of software that is capable of transcribing Live Audio, including OneNote.
Using Audio tools to create a loopback audio input source, you could funnel system audio into something like OneNote or others to transcribe the incoming audio.
This is a more technical way of achieving it though. I am thinking that the ability to copy the Live Captions will come eventually.
why dont i have the live caption optionnnnnn
If you are not seeing the option for captions in your Settings, I would suggest ensuring that Windows 11 is up to date.
Or is the issue you are having something else?
But you set up a black opaque background with yellow text and still got an ugly white box with two buttons visible at all times?
This is why i hate windows man in Linux you can easily run a flatpak called LiveCaptions and get perfect captions with no internet at all. No need to wait or pay Microsoft to get the the ability to copy and save the captions with this you just can. Oh btw a kid made this lol.
This is true, but I am also sure there is likely to be updates to this feature to enable this sort of functionality natively. Especially since this feature only recently was added to Windows.
And for the majority of users, installing a Linux distro onto their device and learning to use Flatpak probably isn't a viable solution. It might be easy enough for people like you and I to do (I currently have Deepin installed on my Surface Laptop 4), but using Linux as a daily driver isn't something that most people are going to be able to do given all the other downsides that would be associated with that.
