Star Platinum's appearance is based on a guardian deity, and his shoulder guards refers Ken from "First of the North Star", while the spiral pattern on them may represent hamon. At the end of the episode, Dio is showing "his stand" coming from Jonathan's body, which is similar to Joseph's Hermit Purple, indeed he can also take spiritual photos. Remember this for later 👀. Oh the song played in the ending is "Walk like an Egyptian" by The Bangles cause Dio is in Egypt. Hype for next episodes!
BTW, If you like Bizzairness of JoJo, here's another anime I would recommend: Gintama. Equally (if not more) bizzare but with a heavy comic touch (it gets serious sometime but 75% of it is humour, such humour you won't stop laughing).

Johnathan's stand is not Hermit Purple. Part 8 debunked that mess. [PART 3 SPOILERS AHEAD] Johnathan's stand grants his bloodline Stando Powah. Dio's stand copies those powers. It's his eternal "Take everything from the Joestars" made manifest. Dio didn't realize this because of his ego. The Joestars didn't put it together for lack of information but we the audience had every piece. This explains the Hermit scene _and_ Onaji Stando neatly.
Dio can use Joseph’s Hermit Purple stand because IT IS ACTUALLY DERIVED FROM HAMON USERS, and Dio has Jonathan’s body, a hamon user. If you recall in part 2, when Joseph unexplainable pulled the Red Stone of Aja when fighting Ultimate Life Form Kars, that was actually a teaser for hermit purple reaching out and grabbing the stone!! It just wasn’t explicitly shown because stands are introduced in this current part you’re on
Part 8 confirmed Hermit Purple is completely unrelated to Hamon. (But yes, Hermit did help in that final battle. Hermit hit Kars with Joseph's severed hand. Hermit also helped Joseph predict people's next line.)
@@SwiftJusticeare you talking about Part 8 Joseph's Stand? cuz has far i know it doesn't have a Name so could be a Completely different stand from Hermit purple even if they share similarities. another Thing to Remember is that we can take a fact from the part 7-8-9 universe y apply it to the original universe bcuz they are Different in many ways, like the way one get a Stand. kira in both universe have the same stand, but both function very differently despite the similarities
