  • The Spidi J&Dyneema Evo is an updating and upgrading of a riding jean that has been in the Spidi range for many years. It is a single-layer motorcycle jean that is woven with Dyneema, cotton and Elastane. Dyneema is a hugely strong UHMWPE, the same type of fibre that forms the basis of the Armalith fabric that is used by Rokker. The Spidi J&Dyneema Evo jean is rated AAA under EN17092. We have also had a Cambridge test conducted on this very same fabric, and it delivered a ‘slide time’ of 4.1 seconds, meaning that they are as strong as a pair of leather pants. Obviously, since they are motorcycling jeans, they come equipped with Spidi’s own armour in both the hips and the knees. Their armour is large, flexible and flat, meaning that it is supremely comfortable, both on and off the bike. The jean is black in colour; far more so than its predecessor which was more a dark blue. The Elastane in the fabric mix, also delivers a degree of stretch which, again, aids comfort. The fit is flattering, but not slim. It is a little more generous in the calf area than Rokker’s Tapered Slim jeans.

I fully agree with you on that one when you say about to many jeans are to slim fit for riding especially around the calf area I definitely wish this trend would go away even with normal jeans

Seen them in Chris video, studied them in a number of websites, compared to the last detail with my other motorbike jeans (Spidi previous version, PMJ Titan, etc), bought them at Motolegends, used them a few days on and off the bike, now I cannot see a reason to ever wear back my other riding jeans (apart from the other best in town, the Rokkertech Tapered Jean). It is a fantastic product, you can feel, you can touch +20 years making biker specialized jeans, the level reached by Speedy with this jeans, in look, comfort, protection (and waterproof) is beyond expectations.

I was an early adopter in the US of the first gen of these, and promptly ordered the updated model last year when I saw them show on the market in Italy. The cut is so, so much better with that gusset - and the airflow is completely comfortable in hot and humid US East Coast weather. I was quite surprised to see that the blend had gone way down in Dyneema % while going up to AAA, but they were totally unscathed (apart from where the medics cut them off me) in a pretty serious crash at around 40mph.
I ordered a replacement pair, which is about the best recommendation you can make.

Nice looking jean with top grade material, interesting to hear about the fibre mix, something that’s not often mentioned, especially in reviews. But over 300 quid is a lot of money for a pair of jeans. Great vid though 👍

Look, I agree with you that 300 quid is a lot of money for a pair of jeans. But those are not just a pair of jeans. Those are very comfortable, leather level-protective, and stylish (I am Italian, I know about style, and I require it) jeans, also reasonably waterproof, that allows you to ride around without having to wear the technical riding trousers, at the office, at a restaurant, along 5th Avenue and Michigan Avenue, without looking a stiff biker. If you are touring of course you go "traditional" technical, but for everything else those jeans are so much more that just a pair of jeans. I am wearing them every day since I bought them last week at Motolegends, and I am already starting to think that when the time comes, in a +100 years, I wanna be buried with them!

Have you guys considered stocking the John Doe range of AAA rated jeans? Would be nice to see a comparison between those and this.

Do they make the top single layers cut? What position if so?

Its a nice looking jean but for this money ill expect, length choice, no lining and D3O ghost armour on knees and hips.

Does ghost or phantom armor fit well in these jeans?

Fly or button? If they came in version leg length would these be the next flag ship single layer jeans for motolegends?

Hi Dan, they have fly. They are sure a good alternative for other jeans we sell here at Motolegends.
