    Ashley didn't have a clue how much of a legend she would become after the game came out lol. Troy and Ashley gave the best voice acting performances in video game history with this game.

    I've played a lot of games and well this is the best by far , not only because of the game-play but coz of the story and the way it hits you . It keeps you so involved . As a father I could completely relate to Joel and how he was feeling initially and then warming up to Ellie as the story went on . I have a daughter and so many times in the game I found my self crying ... I mean its a game .. a game made me cry ... it has never happened before or since.... If you havent played the game then you owe it to yourself to go through this . Its an unbelievably engaging experience.I think the creative director is an absolute genius to give the gaming community something like this. This game has set the bar so high that it might never be reached but atleast now every gaming company is thinking of giving the story any notion of importance.

    I really got close to these characters in this game, more then any other game around. Elle and Joel are just so real and likable its hard or impossible not to fall in love with them and connect with the. I truly do love this game though one of the best I ever played. I didn't have a problem with any of it. I just want more!!!

    I just finished it as well. Hollywood should be ashamed. I was more invested in the characters and story in the first 15 minutes then in entire 2 hour zombie movies. And im a huge zombie fan. I could not have been happier with this game.

    Bullshit. I like conversations with developers. People just don't seem to understand how much work it is to create content for a YT channel, and to set up an interview with Neil and Ashley from TLOU is a great achievement.
    Thanks for the upload.

    That was to reiterate what you said - you can still be immersed in something that isn't a video game, like a great film or play. Interactivity is key to a video game being a video game but it hasn't, by default, made them more immersive than the best of any other art form.

    I actually got a chance to play The Last of Us back in April 2018, and my gosh, did I loved it. Not only are the meaning in the game perfectly fitting for what we are in this world, but the characters are just perfect. I have heard of the game before, but I never even got a chance to play it because my mother was very concerned by the amount of violence and swearing in the game, and as a result, she was pretty much unsure whether or not she would let me play the game.
    On the other hand, after getting my hands on the PlayStation 4 and the game itself (along with other games I love), I played it all the way through while being watched by my mother and my eldest sister, who are keeping track of all swear words that my family and I are strictly forbidden to use and gory violence presented. Ellie is just one character I could not get off of my mind because I never once heard of her when I was playing another one of the games I absolutely love and have a passion about, Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Games when Petra was presented.
    As a result, I wanted to experience it myself, and then again, my mother would not let me get the game due to her concerns of the game. In fact, I knew I wanted to see what Ashley Johnson has done even before Minecraft: Story Mode was released in 2015, which she voiced Petra, a redhead female warrior and one of Jesse's best friends.
    As I mentioned before, I was playing The Last of Us, and I very much enjoyed the game, and Katie was around to support me during my playthrough, and she did, in fact, liked it as well, and as a result of both of us liking the game, we rated it a 95% while my mother was still neutral about it. I had to handle a lot of violence, and since the game is rated M and not child-friendly, I had to have all of my younger siblings get out of my bedroom until I finished playing the game.
    Ellie is one character we all can relate to, as she has been through a lot, and I felt really bad for her. She was one of these characters I never got to know of until I was finally mature enough to play it. Ashley Johnson did a fantastic job protraying as Ellie, and I still cannot thank Naughty Dog enough for finally allowing me to see what the game was like and what we all can experience. :)

    Alright, well I said video games are a more complex storytelling platform because the audience drives the visuals, as opposed to just watching them or reading and imagining them; so there are more elements to take into consideration when trying to keep everything of a piece. That in itself may mean that they have the potential to do more, in terms of being culturally relevant, but that's not to say that they've out performed the best film or book even.
    Yet.

    Did anyone else get a sickening feeling that either Joule or Ellie die at the end of the game? Neil said he had people crying at the end because they've never been that attached to a character but people don't usually say that just because a game ends, no matter how attached they were to one character. I didn't cry at the end of uncharted, though I was attached to Drake, but I might have if he died. It's obvious that someone gets killed but I'm just hoping its neither Joule nor Ellie.

    Well I guess I mean artistic potency then:
    You said art is in the creative impulse, so though games seem more artistic because of our level of interaction with the format, they're not; that feature has been proven unnecessary for immersion. I said video games still having more complexity to their platform than books and films [and theatre] means that there's more to exploit; and that must make for more artistic potency because you're able to give more of yourself to it as a result ...

  • @Raymint
    @Raymint 11 лет назад

    All art forms are as artistic as each other ... but in the way you probably mean - yes. Yes I am. Both you and I know that it's seldom proven but, as far as I know, they're capable of more.

    There also weren't any plot holes. Every big movie that comes out nowadays seems to have huge plot holes everywhere, yet somehow a video game that has more than just the story to worry about does it with no issues?

  • @Raymint

  • @Raymint
    @Raymint 11 лет назад

    They shouldn't be too ashamed in that regard, games have a leg up when it comes to that sort of thing. I'm more impressed with its conclusion and how cleanly every action, plot point and plot beat leads up to it - but it's not mind blowing, it's just proper storytelling, and Hollywood falls short of it almost ALL the time while being the simpler storytelling platform of the two. THAT'S shameful.

    But this game is so sad and depressing.
    When there is just a light of joy....it is lost.
