    The older generation in many countries organise economic systems hhait would benefit them and as the years have gone by, younger generations are ever more excluded. Young people are tired of the aged hogging all the prime resources while being expected to work on minimum wages to maintain the older privileged classes. Civilisations have reached their expirey date.

    It's so scary that populations are aging in Japan and parts of Europe. Does this mean African migrants will be sources of labour in these countries? It is very difficult to argue with the tariffs imposed by Canada and USA against China because Chinese will dump cheap steel in their markets

    • @bosun6313
      @bosun6313 2 месяца назад +1

      Yes, immigrants are needed in those countries to do works which are not favored or finished by natives. On the other side, those countries give citizenship, good payment and other benefits to immigrants. Africa, Middle East and Asia are known as the labour sources. Not sure how EU countries such as Finland maintain this trend in the future as it has plenty of problems in economy and immigrants policy. For the steel, it has been "overcapacity" for many years in China, and only big companies who have multiple business are surviving. I don’t think those tariffs can really make impacts as those companies always have alternatives to balance the budget and profit. If you have interest, you can find similar examples on solar panel manufacturers. Some companies are selling materials, machines, end products, almost everything at the same time.

      The USA created the problem with steel and aluminum industries. Neoliberalism allowed offshoring of industries beginning 40+ years ago. First we allow the aluminum and steel industries to go overseas, then we slap tariffs on the imports? These people are mad delusional...

    Australia addressed the problem of an aging population many years ago. They tackled the issue on two fronts, firstly setting stages when the age of retirement rose from 65 to 67 years. At the same time they made employers pay into superannuation funds for each worker, so that people have more money for their retirement.

    Shrinking workforce, expensive labour and smaller markets will hit the financial health and economy of many nations very hard. Due to increased labor costs companies will shift their production units, investments and business elsewhere. Younger taxpayers will be burdened more with funding retirement plans for the increasing elderly population. Young
    workers, employees bring fresh ideas, innovation and fresh approach to the companies which benefit from them eventually. It will be a huge loss for the organisations. The decline in population will not only hit economy and society but polity as well. The youth demand reforms, question the status quo and nudge the political culture towards a more progressive and inclusive approach, behaviour and functioning. With dwindling share in population nothing of that sort is going to be mentioned in the electoral discourse forget about it being implemented or even considered.

    Only cancer and viruses grow until they destroy their host. Economy and population should follow all ecosystems and organisms, by reaching a mature steady-state. In areas where overgrowth induces excessive pressures, degrowth is appropriate. Less is more.

    This is unfortunate for the nations facing an ageing population with Japan in the forefront. The nations experiencing this had no option but to rely on immigration to meet employment needs.
    Permit me to say that at the very beginning of creation God says for humanity to multiply and replenish the earth.
    Economic conditions has forced a departure from family expansion together with career individuals in marriages and relationships affecting family expansion and values.
    Govts need to insititute good Social Engineering programs to encourage family expansion which will replace our ageing populations. I write with interest and concern for the direction our nations are embracing. Change is needed . I believe Russia encourages Family expansion with benefits . Great show at Aljazeera. Keep up the good work.

    *GDP is Grossly Distorted Propaganda*
    What is *NDP?*
    Net Domestic Product !!!
    Funny how economists do not say much about NDP. What kind of businessman does not know Net from Gross?
    You see there is Depreciation that economists subtract from GDP, at least when they want to. But that depreciation is only for Capital Goods.
    Consumer Durable Goods got added to create GDP also. But somehow the depreciation of Durable Consumer Goods disappeared into space. How many automobiles have American consumers trashed since Sputnik? There were 200,000,000 motor vehicles in the United States in 1995. Where did all of that Depreciation go?
