I've benefitted greatly from Lloyd's activism. His logical, intelligent deconstruction of JW doctrines, his pointing out, with documentary evidence of the Watchtower Society's blatant lies and gaslighting, their falsification of Scripture and so many other things, all this really helped me. I was told about his channel 8 years after I left.
It was a very lonely experience, fading. Knowing I was not, and am not alone is priceless.
Having someone keeping an eye on Watchtower's output and calling it out for what it is - lies and propaganda - is a valuable Public Service.
    Thank you Lloyd and Tibor!

We don't have enough activism. I say that because governments don't take us seriously enough to actually do something about the child abuse cover up.
Also it's not weird to be an activist. Helping other people to get out, is one of the many way to heal.
This is useful, without activists like Lloyd, I would probably still be in the organization. We need people like this.
It's like SheIn employees, they stopped working for that company and now they call out what's really happening and why the clothes are dangerous.

A person may need a clear, clean break at first to clear their heads and hearts and do some healing while purging the toxins from the black hole Watchtower. Then, after a time, they might stick their toes carefully into the world of advocacy and activism, after having had the time to recuperate from the effects of being in this devious cult. Then they can make a fresh start. But they might need to take care of themselves and nurture themselves for a while to have peace of mind. Of course, it is different for everyone’s personal individual needs.

The activism is an essential part for many who have left, in that it brings them closer to healing. For me, I left many, many years ago and there was no mental healthcare available. And the mental health that was available, many professionals didnt understand about high controll groups. I stuffed and moved on. If it hadnt been for Leah Remini and then Lloyd's story, I would have never even realized I was in a cult and unrecovered carrying destructive life patterns. I pushed it away because I knew it seemed wrong to me. But, it came back to haunt me all through my life. I am so thankful to Lloyd for providing activism, promoting mental health, and being there for people who need to make up their minds on whether to leave. Giving them a different way to see things, as they have questions that they cant ask and allowing people to have choice. So, I find Lloyd's work extremely important and I am grateful to him for all of his fine work. PS I cant watch activism all the time either because of triggers. But I respect Lloyd's work as he puts in a great deal of effort finding facts, having empathy and compassion for all those suffering, promoting mental health and sometimes providing needed humor.

It's called: Caring about other people's experiences. I find activism and content like this so helpful to understand others and navigate the world in a kinder way. The activism isn't just for the members of the group being represented, we all live in the world and coexist with others after all

That was a kind answer, Lloyd. I understand that before you deconstruct enough to understand the extent of the manipulation you are under, someone might think "let everyone make their own decisions and live with them." But to go into someone's channel to ask a question and say "btw, what you do for a living is wrong and unnecessary" requires some cheek! I do not do public activism, for mental health reasons and because I'm not shunned by a part of my family and I do not want to cut those relationships. But I am really grateful for all of you who do it, and I will keep supporting you whenever I can.

"Religion has become now a yoke and a harness for people, requiring them to believe along certain prescribed lines of thought and to behave along certain prescribed lines of behavior. But this is far from the essence of what religion is really for. To require, either through inducement or threat, for people to adhere to a certain system of belief does not represent the essence and the purpose of religion. Yet that is what is so manifest in the world today."

Lloyd, I don't always track with your comments on the voicemail reactions, but you nailed this one dead on. Very well stated and explained.
I really like the point regarding the spectrum of activism. I probably follow a dozen different exJW channels and just like personalities, each one has a very unique approach and though process. The best thing is to get that many different points of view on any given singular topic and average it all together to get the most well-shaped information. There are some nutters out there, too. You can't just jump into the sack with any ol' exJW content creator.
I left the org for good when I was Df'd around 2003. It's been awhile. I was basically POMI for a couple of years and was just resigned to being destroyed at Armageddon. Years later whilst debating some fools in the Yahoo comments, I started re-reading certain accounts just to refresh, and WOW. Right out of the gate, Genesis 1 & 2 was just a sh!t show. The more I refreshed, the more a suddenly realized I didn't believe the bible. Next, you morph into, if that isn't true, this whole god concept doesn't even make any sense. Next thing you know, you're an atheist. That was pretty much it until around 2 years ago when I just discovered that there was even such a thing as an exJW community online. GAME CHANGER. Now the clarification and actual deconstructing process, so late in my life, has been so strengthening. I didn't just quit a cult and suffer the loss of every single loved one for no reason. The more I learn about the origins, the changes, the lies, the coverups, the more I feel vindicated by the stance I've maintained regardless of what it cost me. That's why I need this. It does take you to a negative space sometimes, and you need to duck out for a few days, but for as long as I'm shunned by my parents, siblings and children, I will likely keep strengthening myself with an actual truth about the destructive force that monopolized the first 35 years of my life.
    Thanks, Dude!

ALL ATHEISTS who are claiming that God doesn't exist and the Bible is nothing but a worthless book of lies, myths, fictions, fantasies, and fairy tales KNOW
and are fully aware that all Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and all kinds of Religions who are filling the world with their lies and Unbiblical teachings and doctrines about "Armageddon", "heaven and hellfire", "Trinity", "rapture", and "reincarnation"
are the liars, merciless, traitors, and deceitful enemies of Jesus Christ on earth
who are not bothered at all and just don't care even if their Satanic arrogance, lies, deceptions, hypocrisies, and cruelties offend, hurt, insult, and degrade the lives and dignities of their co-human beings that cause their sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and deaths.
ALL RELIGIONS and ENEMIES of JESUS CHRIST KNOW
and are fully aware that they are offended, angered, and just can't accept that all lowly, ordinary, kind, and submissive persons on earth who honor and obey Jesus Christ as their Heavenly Master and King and believe his teachings about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead" will be favored and honored by the God and Father of Jesus Christ with ETERNAL LIFE and existence on earth without sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and death.
      JESUS CHRIST KNOWS
that all liars, deceivers, arrogant, unkind, and merciless persons on earth who rejected his authority and teachings about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead" as worthless and useless will just become worthless and useless dusts on earth forever after their natural deaths
      but
all his loving, kind, and respectful followers and worshippers of his God and Father who died recently and thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Job, Naomi, Ruth, King David, Mary, Martha, Lazarus, and many others will not remain as worthless dusts forever,
instead, in the right and proper time,
he will resurrect them back to life so they can all happily and abundantly live and exist on earth forever as submissive and obedient subjects of the
      "KINGDOM of GOD"
and fully enjoy his and his Father's eternal love, kindness, goodness, compassions, generosities, favors, and blessings for eternity under his loving and kind rulership, guidance, and protection as his God and Father's Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth.

Well, before I listen to Lloyd's take, I don't think Russell "gets it". We ALL want to just move on and live our lives. For some, that's an easier task. For others, there is a sh!t-ton of trauma that we're still dealing with, even after decades of being out. It's nice that Russell still lives at home and his biggest problem is that his mommy leaves him bible quotes. That's nothing. Had his family thrown him out and shunned him, he would have a very different perspective. Just let him jump into a chrismas or two and start a relationship with a non-believer while still living at home and we'll see if he sings a different tune. Ok, now to see what Lloyd says on the matter...

I myself needed the interview I did with Lloyd. When Leah Reminy did her TV show on Jehovah's Witnesses I thought I was the only one who experienced a serial pedophile in the congregation. I needed the interview to finally heal after over 30 years after my CSA experience. So I now listen more than in the start after my interview because as Lloyd said it was triggering to delve into the disgusting things JW's allow. The caller mentioned celebrating holidays and not being an apostate well just celebrating is apostasy. Being an activist I believe can be hard and terrifying but to be an exJW it's not just watching things like this or talking bad about Jw's it's actions. The 2 times disfellowshiped if you came out of it unscathed then maybe this will be smooth. I was disfellowshiped twice and both times emotionally traumatized. So good luck with your journey and Lloyd thank you for all you do especially amongst people who were unkind to you. You've helped many.

I remember how JWs were talking about exs and why they just dont leave us alone, if they dont want to living as JW and just shuhshsh. Why they stand outside convention. We are here, no matter how JWs act that we are dead we are still alive and want to help anyone who needs help to get out from that cult.

Lloyd, I want to thank you for all of the work you’ve done. I ‘woke up’ and left the organisation 30 years ago, but only since watching your videos over the last 3 years have I properly woken up. Before this, I regularly felt that I was damned and would be slaughtered at Armageddon - and made many poor life decisions based on that. Thanks to your channel, I now feel liberated from the toxic teachings, and can believe that I can live a good and valuable life without fear of death due to leaving.
You helped me realise that JW’s are not simply ‘good people’ - whilst many of them are, unfortunately the teachings are designed to enslave the rank and file and waste the lives of those members - and they propagate this.
Luckily I was never disfellowshipped and I can still talk to my family, although I feel we have never had a proper relationship since I left. That said, I am very glad I was able to leave and live a better life.
Your videos really helped me understand the facts behind the organisation, and the flaws in their teachings. This has made me feel so much better in myself. It has shown me they are just a man made organisation, with the same level of greed, corruption and selfishness of any other organisation. Certainly not the ‘Truth’.
Thanks again for all you do - every single person who you reach with your videos is one more person who regains their life, who can really ‘live again’ and not waste their life in useless servitude.
You’ve massively helped me to come to terms with the legacy of growing up as a JW, and I am now confident to actively reject their teachings and am able to articulate why to my family.
You are providing a much needed and appreciated service, and you have helped so many of us wake up, and then move on to live lives free of this mental slavery.
Thank you Lloyd. And Happy Birthday🎉🎉

are all members of all Christian and non-Christian Religions who
believe and preach the lies and false teachings of their Pastors and Leaders about "Armageddon", "heaven and hellfire", "Trinity", "rapture", and "reincarnation" in opposition and rejection of what were written in the Bible, in Matthew 28: 18, Luke 4: 43, and John 11: 25, 26
that Jesus Christ is the One given by God all authority in heaven and on earth and was sent from heaven to earth to preach and teach the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead" to imperfect, suffering, and dying human beings.
      The FOLLOWERS of JESUS CHRIST
are all persons on earth who -
      1. honor and obey the God and Father of Jesus Christ as their God and Heavenly Father too.
2 honor and obey Jesus Christ as their Heavenly Master and King and believe his teachings about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead".
All followers of Jesus Christ know and understand that -
      1. the "Kingdom of God" is the coming Rulership of God through Jesus Christ that will stop and put an end to all the lies, hypocrisies, deceptions, cruelties, and false claims and teachings against God of Satan's Atheism, Agnosticism, and Religious Fanaticism and ensures planet earth is safe, secure, and peaceful for all followers of Jesus Christ who will be rewarded and honored with Eternal Life and existence on earth without sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and death.
      2. the "Resurrection of the Dead" is God's guarantee through Jesus Christ that all followers of Jesus Christ and worshippers of his God and Father
who died recently and thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Job, Naomi, Ruth, King David, Mary, Martha, Lazarus, and many others will not remain as worthless dusts forever,
instead, in the right and proper time,
Jesus Christ will resurrect them back to life so they can all happily and abundantly live and exist on earth forever as submissive and obedient subjects of the
      "KINGDOM of GOD"
and fully enjoy the eternal love, kindness, goodness, compassions, generosities, favors, and blessings of Jesus Christ and his God and Father for eternity under the loving and kind rulership, guidance, and protection of Jesus Christ as his God and Father's Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth.

I do wish Russell the best in learning how to manage his mental health condition. I hope someday he can become independent from his mother, and maybe if he is able to work and currently is employed, I hope he can find a job that he's passionate about -- whether that's being an ex-JW activist or not. He might change his mind about activism at some future point, and he may not. When he refers to ex-JWs "obsession with the Bible", I think that learning about Biblical scholarship and examining the texts that make up the Bible from a more objective viewpoint and learning more about the history of Christianity and just learning more about the concept of religion in general from scholarly sources -- if one is able to and has an interest in doing so -- can be a very fascinating and worthwhile field of study and can even, sometimes, make you think and perhaps help you figure out what you do and do not believe.
Christianity and religion in general still have a major influence on our world, and that influence isn't and hasn't always been a bad thing, but it hasn't been all good either. Maybe Russell isn't ready to look at anything religion-related right now, and that should be okay. I do think that ex-JW activism is an idea that will always be needed as long as the JW denomination exists, even if it's only for the sake of letting other ex-Witnesses know that they're not alone. The JW denomination has a major impact on the lives of its adherents and even has some impact on former members, sometimes for the rest of their natural lives to one degree or another. Even when an ex-JW manages to distance themselves from the Watchtower Society, they still have to try to figure out how to manage their lives and figure out what they want to do with themselves in a largely non-JW world.
Some JWs who are questioning their beliefs feel that JW doctrines and policies are having a negative impact on their lives and when they're doubting those doctrines and practices, they feel the need to talk to someone about it. And I think there are ex-JWs who can provide online spaces where people can do that. Sometimes ex-JWs feel the need to talk about what they went through and perhaps their viewpoints and stories will resonate with someone. Ex-JWs have a plethora of different viewpoints, opinions and beliefs, and we're not always going to agree with one another about everything. As Lloyd has pointed out, there are some ex-JWs who are very toxic individuals, but then again, there are some toxic JWs in the Organization, too. There are some toxic lifelong non-Witnesses as well. Toxic folk come from every single background you can imagine.
I still feel that ex-JW activism has its place, but it's not a line of work or hobby that every ex-JW can pursue for various reasons, and it's not a line of work or hobby that every ex-JW has to pursue. I think more ex-JW activism is needed. I think that there are people inside the Organization who are doubting and feel they've experienced harm and there are people who have left the Organization who feel that have been put through the wringer due to their experiences. There are even some lifelong non-JWs who feel that they have been impacted negatively in some way by the JW Organization by whatever exposure they had to it, either through having JW relatives or friends who are actively involved in the denomination, or maybe they previously underwent Bible study courses with the Witnesses and quit their Bible study sessions because they weren't able to agree with the information being presented to them and they're trying to now make sense of what they learned about the Witness faith.
I don't expect Lloyd to be an activist in the ex-JW community for the rest of his life. If he wanted to do ex-JW activism work for the rest of his days and was able to, that would probably be a great for some people who come across his work and are interested in hearing what he has to say, but if he doesn't want to and wants to pursue some other career field someday in the future -- then that's fine, too, and it would be perfectly understandable. He has other interests, just like most of us do. Lloyd doesn't owe anybody anything. I certainly hope that Lloyd continues his ex-JW activism work for a while at least as I feel that he has lots of interesting things to say and is a very valuable voice in the ex-JW community (one of many), even if I don't always agree with all of his viewpoints.
As for Russell, I wish him all the best in wherever his journey takes him.

I understand the caller. I do. (And congrats on waking up and best of luck with his mother! 🙂) I'm never going to be an activist, myself - it's just not in me, like it isn't in lots of people. But what I do, is take part in the exJW community. Like now, by commenting. Sometimes it's not a video that a JW making their exit needs, but an understanding comment on a forum. Or to read an experience they, too, have had, from someone else, thereby validating their own. Activism comes in subtler forms, too.
As for keeping up with the org and studying the Bible in an academic way - it's a form of therapy for me. I'm both building a resistance to the bs of the org (since I, like the caller, still have contact with my JW mother) and reminding myself that it IS all bs. 🤷‍♀️ Not everyone needs to do that, and that's good. I’m not gonna lie, activism does have its place for the EX Jw. For me, I’ve been awake for about 7 years since I was 16. Over the years, I tried doing an ex jw channel but I realized over time that it wasn’t for me. Plus I’m 23 now, I made new friends and getting a degree this year. Im basically moved on, I’ll check here and there but aside from that. I’ve been done

to move on, you have to know where you stay! of course, at the beginning, you have to struggle with a new life, with the loss of your friends, but later you have to answer some fundamental questions: do I still believe in Christ? where did Christianity came from? is the Bible an inspired revelation? is there a god who wants me to obey his moral standards? for this, you need research, e.g. learn about religion, bible, god out of the JW frame. It s not only a philosophical quest, but this will of course determine your behaviour, your morals…and activists ( nit only ex jws) and scholars can help you to do this kind of research

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Learning more about the witnesses with a bit of perspective is really helpful for noticing - and unpicking - the programming you had. On the bible thing, I’ve found myself reading about the bible more recently too! I’m an atheist, I think the bible has a lot of nonsense, but its a fascinating book. Its a series of writings of its time (and that’s a very different time from the events it purports to depict) with a lot of political and social context. Without the simplistic religio-goggles on, its very interesting. I wouldn’t recommend reading the bible immediately upon leaving the witnesses though. Get some time off and discover who you are deep down.

Atheists who are claiming that God doesn't exist are the persons on earth who are opposed and against what were written in the Bible, in Matthew 22: 37 and John 17: 3
that the God and Father of Jesus Christ is the True and Sovereign God.
Members of all Christian and non-Christian Religions who believe and preach the lies and false teachings of their Pastors and Leaders about "Armageddon", "heaven and hellfire", "Trinity", "rapture", and "reincarnation" are the persons on earth who are opposed and against what were written in the Bible, in Matthew 28: 18, Luke 4: 43, and John 11: 25, 26
that Jesus Christ is the One given by God all authority in heaven and on earth and was sent from heaven to earth to preach and teach the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead" to imperfect, suffering, and dying human beings.
The FOLLOWERS of JESUS CHRIST are all persons on earth who -
      1. honor and obey the God and Father of Jesus Christ as their God and Heavenly Father too.

This kid has no idea how unique his situation is. Hope more young people get to enjoy leaving the religion and staying at home with their parents. It does seem like the longest way of saying, "I dont get it".

I think I can understand Russell's concerns with ex-JW activism against the Watchtower Society. I'm not an activist in the ex-JW community, but I am sure it can be emotionally draining. Activism against the Society isn't for every single ex-JW person in the world. Sometimes, some ex-JWs after leaving the JW Organization need a break from looking at issues surrounding the ex-JW community and examining JW-related things for the sake of their emotional and mental wellbeing and maybe, to avoid possible burnout. Some want to focus on other issues that they feel are more important to them (and those issues probably are more important) and that's totally understandable.
Ex-JW activism isn't an easy task. It happens to be Lloyd Evans' fulltime job as it is for some other ex-JWs, for some it's just a parttime job and for others, it's just a passionate hobby. If Russell feels that activism isn't something that he would like to do at any point in time, then I feel that maybe he shouldn't pursue that course. It's not for everyone.

Saying that he’s disabled, because he has bipolar, is bullshit. I know plenty of people dealing with mental illness that are working, going about their daily business, struggling with their mental illness and still succeeding. I find him not worthy to even be on the show. You should’ve picked someone else.
