Yes. I worked for the primm Valley casino. The apartment complex was built primarily for employee housing so you would not have to drive up and back each day from las Vegas.
That helped keep employees from quitting their job and a high employee turnover. 😁😁😁😁😁😁

The recession c. 2008 hit Primm hard, and covid dealt it another blow. That waterway she saw outside was indeed a flume with a boat ride that coursed inside and outside. In its prime, the roller coaster was going, a monorail ran regularly between both sides of the I-15, and the outlet mall and food court were bustling. Now, it’s just a shadow of what once was. But Las Vegas (and surrounding communities) is like that.
Wait until Lake Mead runs dry and NO MORE WATER for people in Vegas and no more cheap electricity. Many smart people have predicted for decades now that Vegas would become a dust bowl - ghost town by 2065 and the last industry would be a long lasting crime wave before the whole town officially becomes the Western deserts biggest GETO.
True, I remember Primm when it was poppin with busloads of tourists. The ishhht was packed.
My at the time boyfriend physically forced me onto the roller coaster with him. 🤣
I love Stateline. Love the old school feeling. Not weird at all.

Primm was originally called State Line for many decades. I see the outlet mall hasn't changed much in the past 20 years. Pete wasn't the only guy to get mad at people for not buying something. The gas station owner at Cadiz Summit (long gone) on Route 66 chased me off when my truck needed water too in the 1960's..
Wow, Dem Times are Surely a Changin. That is One Funky Town for Certain. At one point driving from Blew-Tah to Venice Beach I stopped at the Mall and scored some super groovy sneakers. That was maybe 25 yrs back, and the place was Jumping. Casinos & All were Jammed. Everything is Lackluster and Different now. It would be cool to break-in & hide-out inside Whiskey Pete's to see how long before Ya got 'Jacked Up' & 'Hauled Off' for being a Bad Party Person taking drugs and boozing it up Royal. (there was a time when I would Definitely have done that) And, I would Never have been caught.🤗 Ha Ha. 🥳👏👏👏👏👏✌
Here’s a memory … My first car 🚗, a little red Datsun, the clutch went out driving back from our first girls’ trip to Vegas. I tried and tried to get us back to San Bernardino…20 miles an hour on the 15…. ended up stopping at the gas station on Zzyxx Road. Had to call my brother to come pick us up. The following Monday, we drove back to Zzyxx and towed my little red car 🚘 back to Berdoo for a new clutch. I was only 19 at the time. But, my gal friends and I still recall that trip as one of our best. The little red 🚗 with no A/C, chugging thru the hot desert … and now has no clutch. What a LONG drive that was!
There's a Stateline NV at Lake Tahoe. Maybe that's why it changed.

I thought this video was so fun. I'm so old I remember as a little girl in the fifties my dad always getting gas at the last gas out of town. People would hand burlap bags of water in the front of their cars. I also loved Prim. Use to spend the weekend before we moved to Nevada. No crowds. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.💜

I remember riding that roller coaster 🎢. It was fun 🤩. We also attended a Moody Blues concert there. Our son took a guided donkey ride out on the trails behind Whiskey Pete’s. And, sadly, but true, I recall the murders of those poor children. As much fun as Primm was, it was NOT the place for children to wander around unsupervised. 💜❤️💐🕯. RIP little ones. 👼 👼

Hi SJ, the state of Nevada is doing u an injustice if they don't immediately offer you a job as a Tourist Ambaasador. Who else could produce such an entertaining video almost 30 minutes video, creating an immediate desire to visit a whistle stop Bordertown where the only attractions are 2 average casinos, another closed casino , a set of apartments bordering what appears to be a cousin to the Sahara Desert, an almost empty factory outlet , turned " art gallery" , a lotto shop and a small convenience store. Beside being entertaining and informative you really are an asset to Nevada's Tourism industry. Take Care and keep safe, hi to Sis as well. Cheers Ian
Back around 2000- 2006 I used to attend the tri state seminars at Primm. It was an annual event for water agencies from Nevada, Arizona and California. Buffalo Bills' was a gas. We'd ride the roller coaster and the water ride. The water ride was an electronic shooting gallery. You'd be issued an electronic pistol and get points for every target. They were all animated and well done. The water ride meandered thru the casino as well as outside. It was a gas. All three casinos would be full with people attending the convention. Lots of partying going on. It was a shock to see what's become of it. I haven't been that way since 2009 .
Lori I went there this last summer it was lonely and sad ! Closed as usual but am wishing it to open someday very soon

I really do want to believe you.
I want to believe that there was a fun energy that was enjoyed by all ages (except those who lost more than they should have gambled & except for those few children) but I just can't do that now.
For some reason, a can't imagine that a person who uses the word "gas"to mean a "fun time".......
I can't imagine their idea of fun is anything close to what my idea of fun would be.

Weird,because the activities you described did sound like fun to me until you said it was a gas?
It's like when you're eating your favorite desert & it's been prepaired just the way you like it, & 2 bites in, you pull a long hair out of your mouth that you know came from the desert because as you pull it out, it comes intwined with chunks of the desert.
I just can't eat another bite of that particular batch, no matter how hungry I am.
I used to always go to Buffalo Bill's when I was in Vegas. Buffalo Bill's Desperado roller coaster at over a mile long, had a 225 foot drop, and hitting almost 90mph, was a major roller coaster when it was built. And loved the shooting gallery log ride. Bill's attractions were definitely a gas. I am sad to see it closed and hope it reopens. I would come back.

Buffalo Bills was fantastic! The roller coaster was awesome and the log ride quite fun. We loved staying there in the 90s. There was a bowling alley at the Primm hotel-It was called Primadonna Inn back then; before the outlet mall was built.

BuffalBills. The Rollercoaster and other rides were great. The outlet mall was booming and having stayed there it was a greT stay for a couple of days which we did several times. Too bad you couldn't have experienced it when it wS open and Whiskey Pete's was wonderful too.

Haven't been there in many years but Whiskey Pete's was a favorite stop for all of us truckers since it had a huge truck friendly parking lot. It was a welcome sight and the first thing we all saw after driving across the Mojave desert into Nevada.
I remember Cactus Kate's where Buffalo Bill's is now ...that was back in the day..

When I first moved to Las Vegas from LA in 1977 I knew I reached Nevada when I would see the flashing red searchlight on the tower above the Stateline Casino. It was one small building that had a sign with the words "Last Chance" on it. This meant it was the last chance to gamble before you left Nevada.
Really enjoyed your video about Primm, Nevada. Back about 15-20 years ago when I traveled extensively in Arizona, Nevada And California, I stayed three times at Whiskey Pete’s and once at Buffalo Bill’s. I had really good times at both places and your video was so sad, especially as I remember the hustle and bustle of the area back in the day. Thanks for sharing and keep those interesting and informative videos coming. Your work is really appreciated by me since my stroke of 8 years ago has left me basically home confined. Chet , you must have been a trucker ? I am a trucker and i used to stop at Whiskey Petes starting back in the early 80s. Back then thats all that was there , it had about 3 fuel islands and 99 cents breakfast . It was definitely a fascinating place back then .

This is why I subbed to your channel a long time ago. You find some cool places and your story telling is the best. This place is interesting but kind of sad because it's abandoned. Probably way better when fully open. Great vid.
I starting going to Vegas for dune buggy races in 1976, and I remember when Whiskey Pete's was just a little gas station with a couple of slot machines. Much the same story for Jean NV and Pop's Oasis, which is where they originally had the Bonnie and Clyde car, pay a quarter and you got to see it. As far as the bridge building and all the major development, it was more like 1987 rather than 1977 ( I think, I'm old and my memory isn't what it used to be)
Mike you're the first person I've read about that remembers Pops Oasis. We must be the only 2 people alive that remembers it. I liked it.

Wow! I'm a Brit and in 1998 visited Simi Valley, California. While there we drove the I-15 to Vegas and yes, we stopped at Primm, visited Whiskey Pete's and did see the Bonnie & Clyde car - I seem to remember Al Capone's car being there as well. Struck me as kinda funny tho that the Bonnie & Clyde car is currently in Simi!
When I was younger, Pennsylvania wasn't part of the Powerball lottery. I remember it was something like 500 million dollars and my mom, sister, and I hopped in the car and drove an hour and a half to Delaware to buy a lottery ticket. It made for a fun memory! Really enjoyed this video on Primm. I have only passed through on my travels out west. Thanks for the continued great content!

The pool was shaped like a buffalo, when my kids were young we always stayed there on our way to California from Utah. Yes we kept a close eye on our kids.
because of these videos your doing about this area i was inspired to load up "fallout new vegas" and play it again. i have to give the game writers a lot of credit for doing the research and probably going in person to see all the sites and take notes. its uncanny how accurate the game parody's the real places, land marks and people
I really liked Pimm. I rode the roller coaster and had a blast. There's cheap fuel (diesel) if you know where to look. I'll miss the old Buffalo 🐃. I hope this pandemic gets over, so some of these places open again if possible?

Thanks for the tour of what exists now vs what it once was in Primm. I once stayed at one of the hotels overlooking the small airport in Primm maybe 20 yeats ago.Brings back lots of memories. You could make a funeral exciting with your humor.
Good one! Interesting stories and a great look around the outlet center. Enjoy hearing your take on these places I driven by countless times but never stopped to explore.
Back when I drove a truck, that was actually my favorite stop. The outlet mall ha had a little train running as tramm. Then the monorail took you around . I was a fashion destination. All of the shops were high brow shops. It was a great place to park and rest for a while. It kinda makes me sad to see it in that shape.
When I was 8 or 9 years old I saw the Bonnie and Clyde Death Car at a carnival in Connecticut. Imagine my disappointment when I found out later than it was one of several replicas making the fair and carnival circuit. Though they did have a two-headed baby pickled in a glass jar, so not all was lost.
And the Whiskey Pete one is one of the fakes. If you look at it, you can see that the way the bullets hit the car were artificial.

All I can say is that there are bunch of these cars, some experts claim this one isn't real. and if it was the real car, it's been altered as some of the bullet holes couldn't have been made at the time. I'd like an explanation of that.

Love this video. Have stopped at Whiskey Pete's too many times to count. My first time there was in 1979. Later in the mid 80's I stopped for the morning, had breakfast in the old (now gone) coffee shop and had the best ever biscuits and gravy (massive) for 2 bucks! It was as if Whiskey Pete made those biscuits himself. The original coffee shop and old small casino was golden! I miss it. Thanks Sarah for your historical efforts on your channel. You are a National Treasure. At Buffalo Bills there was a water feature log flume. It was fun. Stayed there in 2006 when it was at the top of its game. We stopped there to check on it about 2 months ago and work was being done on it to re-open it. We shall see.
I was just down in primm on Jan 4th. Cool little town. Line for lotto store was at least 150 people deep
The Bonnie and Clyde car is at the Ronald Reagan Library they have a large exhibition going on called Al Capone to Al Queda.
That fact that you stood on top of you car to do that intro makes you a badass!
I liked Primm back in the 80's, my son lived in Vegas and we would go there to mess around. Wild Bill's had a real cool motion theater but I only rode that damn roller coaster once.
The mall, with an appraisal of 28 million sold recently for 1.5 million!
I love your travel videos!! Primm was always a must stop whenever I go to Vegas. The last time in December we stopped and I was amazed at how empty the outlet was!! I remember when that place was thriving!

I stopped in Primm over 30 years ago to just ride the rollercoaster. I was the only one on it so I sat up front ! 😂😂Great video !! Thanks for the tour and memories. So creepy to be in that outlet mall with just a few stores open. Crazy !

Thanks for the trip down memory lane I worked there in the 90s. The place was hopping then. I was there when they built Buffalo Bills. One night while no one was there I climbed the stairs on the side of the roller coaster. Yes, we drove from Vegas and on the weekends we would drive on desert trails to avoid the freeway traffic. There was a trailer park for employees then.

Used to drive up to Primm from Huntington Beach California with my wife to gamble and party... we were there The Weeknd that the little girl was molested and killed in the restroom. It was so sad there were Vegas cops everywhere
I really enjoyed these video, bring back memories, I used to take my kids for school clothes shopping every season, we had so much fun and the mall was pack all the time and we always got really good deals for everybody, the food court was always busy, good food, the arcade was fun too, sad what it happen not just there but everywhere, thank you, you go girl!!!!

Jeremy Strohmeyer from my home town of long Beach killed the young girl in the bathroom of the casino once called Stateline. After the murder, the casino changed their name to Primm casino. Because of this terrible crime 2 major laws were enacted nationwide. One was that an adopted child, which Jeremy was, must come with a historical background of his biological parents. Apparently Jeremy's mother was legally insane, and the adoption agency said nothing. The other law, which can be seen played out on the final episode of Seinfeld, is that those who witness a serious crime has to try to intervine, stop it, or at least report it. It's called the "Bad semeritan" law. When Jeremy was killing the girl in the bathroom his friend went in saw what was happening, immediately left, told no one, and then later claimed "I saw it but I had nothing to do with it". This was all big news here in Long Beach 20 years ago.

When I lived in SoCal, my friend and I drove to Vegas every weekend. We used to stop at Buffalo Bill's and ride the Roller Coaster. Reminds me of good times. Thanks for the video Wonder Hussey.

Buffalo Bills, scary roller coaster. They have an arena inside, Star of the Desert. One of the last concerts there before the Pandemic was REO Speedwagon. Some great concerts there. Yes, that used to be a log ride inside and out. You should go visit Goodsprings, if you haven’t already done so. Librarian is kind of cool, and in trailer with no bathroom.

I moved in and out of Vegas in less than a year because of the Dunning-Kruger effect. That was in 1999 - 2000 & the Y2K party.
Never would have believed Buffalo Bills casino would close down. I was in the mall in 1996-ish. What a blast from the past.
It was a pain to even live in the Cotton Wood Cove Mariana below Search Light. Real grocery stores were miles away in Boulder.

There also used to be a boat shaped hotel called Nevada Landing across from the Gold Strike in Jean about 20+ years ago! My mom used to work there but they tore it down awhile back…. You couldn’t miss it driving on the highway…
Yep! Where the Gold Strike is now used to be a small garage, casino called Pop's Oasis and that is where the Bonnie and Clyde Death Car first appeared in Nevada. I remember seeing it in the showroom there many times when I used to go out to Jean/Goodsprings to explore abandoned silver mines.

Wow I musta drove right through Primm several times going back and forth from San Bernardino to Vegas back in the late 80s I was stationed at Norton AFB.

I remember when Primm was just a gas station on each side of the hiway and you cut across the hiways to go to the other side ! I remember when it was a fun place with all the casinos open and very active ! Now it is sad to see it this way ! :(

Buffalo Bill's log ride was fun back in the late 90's. They had laser guns to shoot all the animals and bad guys. Never rode the tower drop or rollercoaster. Only went once on the way back from CA to UT. Family stopped for dinner and I got to ride the log/flume ride. It winds through the resort’s main casino floor and ends up outside. The place seemed deserted back then.
I used to take my kid on that ride every time we passed through just to take a break from the drive. We did it a lot in 2008-2009, but after that the sensors in the laser targets started to go bad and after a while less than half the targets worked so we kinda stopped going.

Interesting vid...I remember staying at Buffalo Bills...the roller coaster was billed as the world's fastest, hitting 99 miles.per hour...always wondered why they couldn't eek out 1 more mph and call it 100!

Stayed at both casinos in the past but never explored the area.Fascinating.
Desperado was a pretty good roller coaster. It has a good first drop and some air time in the back hills. Needs way more padding in the cars as the ride has stiffened over the years. As a former employee and having worked at all 3 properties, I can tell you as weird as it seems, working there was even weirder. Or more frustrating. Take your pick. BTW you should have seen that lotto store when Powerball was over one billion! The local news stations were out there interviewing people waiting in line! I think that store ended up selling a 100,000 or a million dollar ticket during that time.
I rode Desperado 8xs in a row when I took my daughter and neice there around 2000. I loved that first drop
I rode Desperado when it first opened, fun ride. But when I rode it years later, it hurt. It was very rough, so rough I never went back. I'm surprised they never got sued, yes it was that rough.

Yeah, I remember that coaster as pretty good, and worth a stop on the way in, or way out of Vegas. We actually stayed at Buffalo Bill's because we got in late, and didn't want to drive on into Vegas. The rooms were nice, but this was 27 years ago when it was still fairly new.

Yes they were employee apts. An option if your commute was too long. I stayed in Vegas and made the drive.
I rode that Roller Coaster-Highest, fastest drop I ever experienced. Buffalo Bill's was a great Casino and hotel, but over the years it really got run down. Great Video!

Such great family memories! Back in the day (1990s), we brought the family with our small kids and stayed at the RV resort. We rode the rollercoaster, log ride, saw movies in their theater, dined at their delicious coffee shop, rode the tram that circled the casino ceiling & all the way to the other 2 casinos, and we saw amazing concerts in their super great arena! We are from Vegas, and this was a really fun place to go to get out of town. Thanks for the fun tour!! You're the best ❤️
Love your videos, but this one is a Debbie Downer. This place used to be a great place to stop or get away for the weekend. The log ride actually ran through the casino, and was interactive. Spent weekends there when the place was jumping. Inexpensive clean rooms and great food. Very sad to see it in this state. But it is that way a lot of places.

You have been literally one step behind or in front of my journeys for quite some time crazy weird 🤔
Can't tell you how many times I've driven to Escondido CA from where I used to live in Eastern Utah along I-15! We stopped rarely in Primm though. Sometimes we'd eat at the buffet at Whiskey Pete's. But I can remember them starting to build Whiskey Pete's and years later my brother-in-law worked security at Whiskey Pete's and lived in those apartments. I also remember when they built that mall. Thought it was weird back then. Those pictures that are there now weren't there, but this modern look was there trying to attract the drivers along I-15.
But what I thought was really bizarre is the Prison about half way from Primm to Las Vegas, its very strange with all the tall fences and concertina barb wire surrounding it. Never, ever saw anybody outside. Gave me the creeps. Ever been to the old mining town at the top of the Baker grade? It's also weird.
But, we mostly drove I-15 at night so the kids would sleep 80% of the way to Escondido without hearing, "are we there yet?" Or "can we stop, I have to pee", or " were hungry". Best time to avoid traffic in the Vegas area too!
That is one bizarre town! WOW!

The outlet mall is crazy, I remember this place being pretty busy just a few years ago.
There is also a famous offroad race every year there called the Mint 400. Behind Buffalo Bills is a few tracks and also viewing area.

I saw the car in 1967 at the lake county fair in Crown Point Indiana, when they still had side shows in a carnivals. Had a man and woman manikins in front seat and scared the heck out of me. You still make me smile girl, stay safe.
Buffalo Bills was so fun. I am so surprised they closed it. It was a fun log ride that had laser guns and targets on the log course. It went outdoors and inside the casino. It was actually the nicest and newest of the three hotels there. The monorail was very convenient too. The mall is basically an art gallery now but I feel even that won't save it.

I’m on a nostalgia trip right now! I live in Vegas now - but my family used to vacation almost yearly to Vegas and we stayed in Buffalo Bills hotel and would drive to Vegas during our 3 day stints but spent half the time or more just in Primm. I have the greatest memories as a teen running through the arcade full speed dodging humans so I could hop RIGHT back onto Desperado with my ride wrist band. I LIVED on the rides and in the arcade!
Fun “fact”: according to staff talking to my excited child self, at night time they’d slightly speed up the roller coaster… true or not it was fabulous. 😍 sure seemed sped up to me!
PS Pete was apparently re-buried in a cave he used to make his moonshine 😂

Primm was once called Stateline. Changed name due to other Stateline name by Lake Tahoe.

My friends and I meet at Primm a few times a year, especially during football season. We're a bit older and don't care much for the night life of Las Vegas. Sports betting and machines are the lure for us. That poor mall gets worse every time I see it. I quit trying to use the Lottery Store though it was convenient when I first encountered it. The roller coaster was pretty cool a few years ago but it beat me up a little. My only experience staying at Whiskey Pete's a few months ago was not so much fun. Next time you stop check out the old trailer park north of those apartments. Oh, yeah, we saw Los Lobos and The Mavericks at Buffalo Bill's arena a few years ago and it was a fantastic show.

I may have missed any mention of it, but Gary Primm developed Primm, then sold it to MGM who then sold it to the Terrible Herbst boys, Troy, Ed and Tim. There were plans to build one of the nation's largest Truck Stops at Primm, but as you can see... that did not happen. The Patriarch of the Terrible Herbst Corp. Jerry, was pretty much hands-off on Primm, which was a project left to the Herbst Boys to run.
It must be Wednesday because all my crazy relatives are out. I'm watching this one again after trying twice before. The last time I was there was 1973, my Mom, Dad and myself were on our way to pick up my Sister, she had runaway with her boyfriend and were picked up by the Sheriff's. I did see the Bonnie and Clyde car, it was locked up in a garage, we had stopped at the little diner and my Dad was talking to the manager and he said if the owner was in we could of gone inside so we had settle for looking through the window. to actually have a reasonable lodging deal, though THAT establishment seemed also to have far less business than would have been necessary to sustain continued existence....
the apartments were just built for people working out there.
Used to love the old train ride between whiskey Pete's and Buffalo bills. Also at the star of the desert arena at Buffalo bills used to have lot of great concerts.
Before it was named Primm, it was known as Stateline which was mainly other than the gas station was where Nevadan's go to play the lottery. When I was a kid that same building was a convenience store with lottery tickets, not just tickets as it is now.
Once upon a time the outlet mall was completely full, too!
The Bonnie and Clyde car is there on occasion, the rooms and the food are cheap, and the people watching is amazing! It's fun.

Super cheap rooms. Used to stop there all the time when traveling for work. For years they had the "Mega Cafe" which had giant portions for super cheap also. I believe it is a Denny's now.

The allure of Primm for California family-men is that it offers the Vegas experience without the risk of the wife yelling at you for "going to all those Vegas strip clubs."
I was there in 89. We stayed so long the waitress went home, came back and noticed us lol. We hadn't even made it to Vegas yet. Hammered.
Primm is well known amongst the off-road Desert Racers for Short-course and Baja races Best in the desert race series so around a dozen times a year the population probably double's.
Why didn't the Lotto store have it drive through and different lines for buying and cashing in we had a place like that in the UK a long time ago.
