Is this not just a new studio and not a new publisher? Since their comics still have the Image logo. Now Scott Snyder and some other creators did form a new publishing label called DSTLRY
Nope. The Image Revolution is the reason that writers are emphasized in a medium that 70% visual storytelling. It's the reason that popular artists like Frank, and Hitch, don't get regular work. Just miniseries, covers, or the first arc of ongoing series. It's the reason art teams get shuffled around so frequently.
What made the image movement in the 90s such a big deal was because all the dudes were prolific artists and especially guys like lee, mcfarlane, liefeld and silvestri was some of the biggest names in the industry at the time. Its great these guys are doing their own thing but it is not like the image boom. Comics is a visual medium, you wanna make noise your art and visual storytelling skills have to be on point.
I agree with you but they’re some great artist with Ghost Machines , Gary Frank for example is amazing. I think the thing that helps the Image Boom was that most of those guys came off of really huge titles like X-men,Spider-man’s and such.
Jim Lee,Liefeld and McFarlane also had the sales record on their resume, each setting sales records in the millions of comics sold. And those records still stand till this day.
This is cool, but it's not the new Image. None of these guys have the heat that McFarlane, Silvestri, Liefeld and Lee had. Larsen and Valentino were also-rans, good, but not the same level. Wish them the best of luck. Don't know if I'll be picking up any of the comics I've seen previewed. They just don't excite me. Hopefully, I'm in the minority, and these guys are a hit.
This doesn’t really get me excited. Not sure what it is. The stories don’t seem very appealing, but everyone has different taste. Personally still more interested to see where western manga goes. All it takes is 1.
Did you read Geiger when it came out? You should at least check it out if you haven’t because I didn’t think much of the description either, but it ended up being awesome. Plus they had some cool as hell glow in the dark covers. I’ll definitely be checking out the new stuff.
Fabok deserves more recognition ngl.. the guy's artwork is so good

It's been decades since the Image revolution and I don't think Marvel and DC have ever fully gotten over it.
They definitely haven’t , I actually have a video on the channel where I talk about it!

Not their fault they dont have the same star power. The reader base these days is too small to allow 'superstar artists' to exist

So much for relying on the direct market for distribution.
