There are stickers on that frame that say "Do not weld or drill this frame" Why? Because when you weld or drill, the frame will fail. Weld the cracks and spray some paint, get paid. So long sucker. Lots of luck.
Each manufacturer has published guidelines for welding on their frames. The welded location is actually stronger than the original frame, it's also easy to heat treat it right back to spec, which I'm sure they did.
that was just a band aid solution , the frame is no longer sound and should have been scrapped , welding it just weakened it even more , that is why after all of the cross members are welded in , the frame is re-heat treated for tensile strength .
How can you possibly hope to lazerline correctly with a bent in all directions chassis? It will never drive properly again and will forever be scrubbing out it's tyres no matter how good the repair is. There's only one way of doing the job right and that's fit everything onto a new chassis.
It has to be TUV approved, they welded the cut pieces and straightened the rest, just like we do to the cars on a Car-o-liner. Straighten out the chassis thru pulling.
делают работу конечно грамотно и професионально,может быть он ещё и поработает,но это у же ни рама.память структуры метала на местах сгиба,потянутый метал это слабина
Me and my dad did this before. The lorry wasn't crashed. It was a rigid and we made it longer so we could put a fold up crane and a tilt and slide body on to it. We added fish plating on the inside of the channel and on the outside. We got the drive shaft professionally done.
A weld is HARDER than the surounding metal, not stronger. There's a differance between the strength of the material, and the hardness. For example, a peice of glass is much harder than a piece of steel. but the steel has more strength. A piece of steel that has been welded will break along the side of a weld, but that's because the metal has been weakened on either side of the weld, not because the weld is stronger.
Stress filled? You mean work-hardened. The frame was under stress AFTER it was bent. Straighting it out relieved stress, but caused work-hardening due to bending the metal back and forth. It also thins the metal along any and all bends as well, further weakening it along any fold lines.
Now that was a professional crew with all the right equipment! Well done gentlemen!
I miss an importent part of this job at 6:37...The cutting, welding and eventual heat treating process.
That's their bussiness secret. 😅
