I worked at Plymouth loco.for 13 years. All locomotives were built for whatever the customer wanted. The company stood alone they were not associated with any other company.

I love Plymouth locomotives. They are no longer made though. They were made for decades at the Plymouth Locomotive Works in Plymouth, Ohio. Some people had the idea that Plymouths were built by Chrysler. NOT the locomotives. They were to separate companies. If you want to see a great Plymouth locomotive in action, check out The Stewartstown Railroad in Stewartstown, PA. They have had a 35-ton Plymouth for decades they call "Mighty Mo." It has been very dependable and they love their Plymouth "Mighty Mo" . I have seen it.

This one looks a lot like the one at the Huckleberry RR at Flint, MI which is a 12 ton diesel mechanical 6- cylinder D-8 CAT engine, 4 speed transmission with forward and reverse. No. 200 roller chain transmits power from one side of the transmission to the rear axle and another roller chain is connected to the front axle on the other side. At 1000 engine rpm 1st gear is about 1.5 mph and 4th gear is about 12.5 mph. In 1st gear she would move the 10 car train.
I remember a Plymouth was used at the Ralston Purina Elevator on W. 62nd street in Shreveport, LA for switching cars as they needed when I was growing up in the 50's and 60's.
