That was by FAR the dirtiest console I've watched him repair. That thing was SHEDDING dirt just by existing! 🤢 Incredible work as always. I sorta doubted that one could be saved!
Comment section be like: “ The previous owner is having major issues...” “The previous owner probably lived under a rock, cave, or a swamp!” *Plot twist: The guy repairing it is the original owner.*
I've read of creators of this kind of content ruining items on purpose just to repair them on video. Well, idk if it's the case or not but that amount of filth in that PlayStation is just... Unlikely. Imo the charm behind this type of content lies, not only in the skill and love for the craft of the one restoring the item but also in the story behind it and how it got to its ruined state. Even when not much info is given regarding how and why the item got ruined in the first place one can always wonder. Said charm will certain be lost if the uploader just 'makes up' these ruined items just for the sake of having content to upload. I hope it's not the case, although unlikely given the state of that console
I remember the mod chip. It turned Blockbuster into my discount video game store. It also justified the purchase of a CD-R drive back in the day. Also, I like statutes of limitations.
Watching the disassembly, I was getting all nostalgic about installing mods for pocket money as a kid. Then he lifts the upper tray and there's that mod install. Wish we had footage from that. Still got the Plextor, 2x write. Runs like new. Hard to beat for ripping damaged CDs.
Yeah i'd like to see how you repair a PS4 which is insanely complicated and not meant to be repaired. Sony doesn't make replacement parts, this is the reason why even finding a belt for a cassette walkman is tricky. Can't repair electronics if nobody makes parts for them.
It's happening more and more with older hardware from 80-90's *especially* gaming consoles. People used to throw them away but there are only so many left out there that people are starting to take better care of what they have.
9:16 Wow, this is hands down one of the best restoration videos I’ve seen! Your attention to detail and passion for preserving these vintage consoles really shines through. Keep up the great work!

Good work, though I don't approve of removing the modchip unless it's being replaced with a different mod despite how ghetto it looks lol. Real game discs are old, expensive, and not always guaranteed to work due to scratches or disc rot, and the ability to play backups is very valuable for disc-based consoles imo
OKAY... I didn't, because long story short version: Rockstar technically wasn't a developer then. They were a publisher. I say technically because at the time they did work on one "game"... for Microsoft Windows. And it wasn't even a game, it was an expansion pack! They published less titles for the PS1 than they did for the Game Boy Color! In fact, Rockstar wouldn't be a full time developer and gain the fanbase they have until they acquired DMA Design, the creators of Grand Theft Auto, in 1998 and published GTA3 in 2001. DMA then had their name changed from DMA Design to Rockstar North... now they were a developer, and could publish and develop games, thus making them the Rockstar we know and love today. THAT is when Rockstar became a household name. SO WHY THE FUCK IS THERE A ROCKSTAR LOGO ON THE PLAYSTATION? THAT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE!
@@ww2historicanimation247 Yay, insults! Maybe you want to tone it down? He didn't even asked your opinion, to be fair. And by the way, I'm not asking yours either, and I don't care what you think.

Good work, though I don't approve of removing the modchip unless it's being replaced with a different mod despite how ghetto it looks lol. Real game discs are old, expensive, and not always guaranteed to work due to scratches or disc rot, and the ability to play backups is very valuable for disc-based consoles imo
Agreed. I would play a backup over original.
Make the backup from the original and keep it clean and safe.
Some games have modchip detection that will stop them running if a modchip is detected. So removing it isn't such a bad idea at all.
Did you read the description?
I actually really liked the rockstar logo on there
Right? The dirty Rockstar logo was kind of a nice aesthetic.
yeah it had this weathered post-apocalyptic look to it lol
Yep.
