I lived in Paris for 8 years. There is nothing wrong south you possibly living in both places. If you’ve never lived abroad before it can be overwhelming. Please know that you don’t have to vlog as much as you do. It takes time to get your footing in a new place, let alone a new country. When it’s time for you to return to Paris, why not just turn the cameras off snd gently learn about your surroundings, find your rhythm. We’ll be here to continue to support you both. Take your time. We can wait and do can Paris.
I must tell you both how inspired I was by your travels in France, but even *more* inspired by your transparency and vulnerability in this video. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I was surprised by how much you were posting, and completely understand why that was too much. Change for me is very very challenging so I applaud the huge steps that you took together. Your experience and reactions are the OPPOSITE of failure ❤
I am new to seeing your channel and it all seems like such a lovely idea, but I have to ask you a question. Are you aware of all the changes that are happening all over the world? I think it would be very stressful to change your life in such a huge move while the world is going through so many changes spiritually, politically, socially and monetarily. That's enough to make anyone's head spin. Many people might not agree with this but it is the truth. We as humans are getting and are currently going through changes on all fronts which are unique in all of human history. Whether or not you believe it, Bible prophecy is playing out in front of all of us. The world is about to be in Tribulation for the next three and a half to seven years. I hate to be a "Debbie Downer", but there are going to be more lockdowns, vaccines, change in world wide currency and lots more social unrest. I can see why anyone would be very stressed out not being around familiar things, when the whole world is losing its mind, around all of us. Whether or not you believe in Jesus, He is about to return and take His children out of this world, because the next few years of Tribulation are going to start at any moment if they haven't already. If anyone thinks what I am saying is crazy, read the book of Revelation. It's all coming to pass. If I were in your shoes, which I am not, but I wouldn't want to leave my elderly parents at all and be in a different country either. Travel is probably going to be restricted more than it already is. It's amazing to me that many people in the world can look around and not notice anything going on, but it's time to wake up. We all need discernment and the only place to get that is with the Holy Spirit through belief in Jesus. No one should want to be on this earth during the Tribulation, because in order for you to be saved you must believe that Jesus died for you and you can't take the Mark of the beast and you should not take any Bill Gates and Dr. Fauci vaccines. You have to admit that the elites and the powers that be just want to take your rights away from you and control every aspect of your life, especially communication, travel and money. They try to pass themselves off as such philanthropic helpers if the world when they are just the opposite. Sorry this is so long, but I have to say it couldn't be more normal than to listen to what your body is telling you that things are not right and that there are too many adjustments to be made in life right now. Many people are losing everything. God is trying to get people's attention, because he wants to save us all. The next few years are going to be ruled by the evil one and many people will have to go against him and will probably be killed for their faith, if they make it that far. If these were normal times, I think your channel would be wonderful, but we are all living not in normal times. I wish you all the best and God's blessings and protection upon you.
I empathized with you because my husband and me planned many years ago to return to Spain after retirement where we lived some years but has been impossible for different reasons. And then decided to travel different places very often instead . I think the way you’re planning now to stay some months and back is more realistic and is a smart decision. God bless you and continue with your videos at your own pace. We enjoy them very much.
Thank you so much for being honest about your depression. Mental health issues do have a stigma around them, and they shouldn't. As someone who has struggled all of my life with depression, anxiety, and ADHD, it's wonderful to see someone talking openly about their struggles. That move was an enormous change in weather, language, lifestyle, family. It's easy to think that you're ready because you want to be and you feel like you are, but it turns out to be too much. Adding pain like you're having with your knee to that just exacerbates the issue. Now you can think through your next steps from the comfort of a place where you feel at home. Having your own possessions around you is also extremely important. I've been to Paris twice on short visits of two or three days. I didn't see all of the sights, but I did love the atmosphere and the architecture, walking along the Champs-Élysées, and sitting in a sidewalk cafe watching the people go by. Don't pressure yourself to make so many videos unless you are dependent on the money, which I don't believe is the case. When it stops being fun, then you shouldn't be doing it. I didn't realize that KJ had another RUclips channel, but I would love to check it out if you provide a link. Best of luck.
KJ and Tony, I just discovered your videos today. All this resonates so much with me. My husband and I live in Miami, Florida. We have been talking about moving away for years, and France has been high on our list. I know both Paris and Nice very well (I am European and a French teacher), and, although I love both, I would prefer to live in Nice, and just visit Paris. For us, Floridians, used to seeing the sun every day, the south makes sense. Your experience is not a failure. Finding out what we want and how to achieve it is a process. You are inspirational. I wish you the very best!
Thank you so much, Sorela. I'm disappointed that I missed out on experiencing Nice. Tony says I will probably like it even more than Paris, due to the weather and the coast. I'm looking forward to going back to Paris in October, but the next trip will be to Nice. Thanks again for your kindness and support🥰
i love Nice. After about 4 visits in 20 years my husband and i enjoyed a weeks holiday in April so much tbat we have decided to return every year during the end of April for a holiday. The airport transfer is easy on the metro and we have chosen the Hotel Beau Rivage as it has its own beach. Perfect in all weathers with shops museums good train links and best of all the Promenade.
So nice to see you both. I was worried the last few weeks. You’re not alone KJ, so many go through homesickness & depression. Big hug. I have no expectations of your vids. Whatever you post in future will be lovely. 🇨🇦♥️
I was a military wife for 20 years. The depression you suffered from is something I went through when ever we moved to another country. When I was younger I got through it a bit easier and faster but when I was in my early 40s we got stationed in southern Italy. That's where I again suffered from depression. It's all linked to you knowing you are going to be there a long time, culture shock, missing home aka U.S., time changes, etc. It took me about 6 months to get out of that depression. I never came home to the US to visit family for fear of going through the readjustment again when returning to Italy. Don't beat yourself up over you needing to come home. Maybe it would just be best to go for a month at a time. Take care.
Thank you for sharing this, Jennifer. Helps to normalize the experience for me and know I am not alone in this experience. Truly, so helpful. Yes, I believe shorter visits and having a home base to come home to in the US is a better option.
I am glad you are now doing better..I was concerned...it show when you wanted a certain blanket...when you do if when....not ignore your limits..such as selecting apt when to many stairs..or using unforgiving Metro that doesn't provide accession..elevator... I think if you went into Maritime Alps long term lease of car..to discover the better part of South Coast...such as Beaulieu...Viillefranche etc..do possibly weekly visits in the area. Posting adventures restaurants etc..I am going back to visit..now costly in Summer. I have been traveling in Mexico for over 2 months...working with Airbb..sometimes good one week at time another passible.I recall Tony saying what do with your clothes...since caught in season change of clothing..I do need downsize my suitcase...for its been OK on bus to Airbb...but now be taking trains in Europe..it will be more difficult..heavy suitcase..any tips Tony?
It's so nice to see you both. KJ, you don't 'have to' post a video every week. We'd rather wait for one when you are free and liking to post, than feeling compelled and under pressure. It's your experience of France and not a job or a chore. It's the joy that you feel in your experience, that we enjoy. Best to you both! 👍👍👍💖💖💖
This is Chris Tillery, Tony was my Therapist at Beachcommer. My input is that anyone who Posted anything negative about your Adventure are the same people sitting in their one bed Apartment scared to go get a gallon of milk at Publix, that's 2 blocks from where they live. What y'all have done and accomplished in the past 10 to 12 months is probably the Best Achievement in your whole time married. What you both overcame, would be sending most married couples to a divorce Attorney, I personally have enjoyed the adventures and watching all of the good bad & ugly, and for you to be so honest about everything is just BRAVE. Thank you both and keep us posted on what's next. Thanks again, Chris Tillery
i wondered how you were doing. so sorry to hear about your depression, but although i don't suffer with depression, i do get home sickness; we have been living in france for 16 years, but its really hard.
Thank you, Julie. Wow, 16 years living in France. I bet you have some stories to tell. We appreciate you and all the people sharing their experiences with us!
You are so brave. First to follow your dream of moving to France, and then to be smart enough to take care of your mental and physical health in your return to the U.S. I’m glad that you are feeling better and I look forward to more posts from you. Tell us some of the things you learned on your first move to France that will alter how you do things on the next trip. Your dream of living in France hasn’t died, like most things in life it has just changed. Good to see you both!
Moving to any country is a huge change and challenge The language, culture, bureaucracy, financial system of France is very different than America. It is necessary to speak fluent French to make friends or to work. French is very difficult to learn for many Americans. That combined with the slowness and complexity of the bureaucracy is frustrating and overwhelming for may people who are used to speed and efficiency. The number of papers and dossiers required in France is incredible. Lose one piece of paper and you must start all over and that can take years. There is often no AC in France and winters can be very cold without enough heat. All of that is challenging.
KJ I too have been out of the loop. My partner of ten years passed away suddenly on March 18. I miss him terribly. I am sending you hugs~just get well. People will not leave your channel because of a health crisis. Hang in there. I personally am drawing strength somehow. Much love. Suzi Gemini
I lived in France about 40 years ago. First semester, I lived in the Southern part of Normandy commuting to a Paris and then moved to Paris full time. I became depressed and home sick after 5 months in France. I went to a special program at the Sorbonne. I get it. I was so homesick and depressed. I had a Greek boyfriend who helped me through some of it. I like your channel I just found it. I have dreams of moving back to France. A part of my heart is in France too. ❤
Thank you for sharing your experience. I feel better knowing I'm not alone in my experience of homesickness. We want to live in France ultimately but the timing has to be right.
We were transferred to a new area. I had to give up my job and family. I woke up one morning saying I have no friends,I don’t know anyone. But once I started meeting people, making friends and having new experiences I became stronger as a person. I learned so much about myself that I can now move anywheres. I love the experience of new adventures, meeting new people and making new friends. Looking back I found the first move is the hardest. Don’t give up because there will be always new adventures ahead for you both..
I've lived abroad twice in my life. I would say 4 out f 5 Americans return home within 5 years. With all our problems and the changes here, I am an American girl at heart. Just retired from nursing and am happy here in beautiful Northern Arizona. Thanks for being so honest and real.
Dear KJ and Tony, Your adventure in France has been so inspiring. I've missed you both for the last few weeks. You are providing so many people a wonderful opportunity to evaluate if being an expat in France is something something that should be explored. Thank you for being so honest about your depression and bring it into the light. Depression has been stigmatized in the past and fortunately no longer needs to be. KJ, I will keep you in my prayer and look forward to your return to France in the future.
I Just found your channel and this video is a GREAT lesson! I’m currently preparing to live in Spain early 2025 and I’ve planned extensively about this move. However, I have not anticipated the emotional toll that may arise from living in a new environment. THANK YOU KJ for having the courage to say out loud what so many keep silent. I’m still excited about my endeavor AND will keep your lovely voice in my heart should I begin to feel less than blissful 🇪🇸 💃🏻 🇫🇷
I can tell you, with no doubt, if you change the name and scope of your chanel to something like "KJ and Tony move to Springfield, Ohio", we will find it lovely and interesting anyway because of you two been genuine and empathetic human beings, which is, in my opinion, the reason behind the success of your videos.
Thank you so much, Ramon, for such kind words of encouragement. It means a lot and helps us to continue to move forward. We appreciate you and your support 🥰❤️💫
I was one of the early watchers and remember thinking, oh, fabulous, I can travel vicariously! Your videos were right on target for me. But I do absolutely understand being overwhelmed. When you do something for the love of it, and it becomes more of a job, sometimes the joy fades as you start working harder at ‘succeeding’. Please do not torment yourself over the viewers. We enjoy your videos. If they continue, we’ll be happy. And if they have to be less often, or not at all, just enjoy your time there. Health comes first. I’m glad to hear you’re doing better (except for the knee!). Take care and I wish you the best!
So much to explore here. I’m in France now on a similar quest. I think if it hadn’t been for your knee mostly. You might have figured it out differently. Then the out of Paris letdown vis the more rural lol lifestyle in Versailles. You learned you want to be right in the action and I am also looking for that. I want to live over the store. You learned you have a tenderness for your Florida life and that is beautiful by itself. For many people I know widowed like me, that is enough to keep them somewhere. But for me, working it out as I am writing, traveling with my husband was possibly the source of our exhilaration of being together so hitting the road as I approach 80 is a way of being with him. And thanks for you being you! I feel like we’re all in the room together talking and working things out.
I was so glad to see the notification for this video. I was worried about both of you and hoping you are better and working things out to return to France. It is clear you are determined to return but on a different time frame. I know you will figure out what you need to do to make it happen. Do your channel to suit you. People who enjoy your content will understand if your upload schedule has to be limited - certainly for a while. Just seeing the places you visited was fine and hearing your impressions interesting. I’ve been to France several times and I can’t help but agree that nothing else quite compares to Paris. What an amazing city! But I also know that other places in France are interesting and deserve your critique. So please report back to your audience. But do take care of yourselves, as well! 😃
So glad to hear that KJ is feeling better 💛Your channel is one of my favorites because I find both of you relatable and genuine. It is one of my dreams to move to France as well, so I watch your content with great interest. I appreciate your honesty about your experience, keeping it real, and not sugarcoating everything. Moving forward, I would like to see you create videos of your surrounding area in Boca Raton and any places you travel to or visit. I live in San Diego, so Florida (and the entire eastern/southeastern coast) is a mystery to me and lots of other people as well. The main thing to remember is that we all come to your channel to see *you* and to hear what you have to say. ☀
Thank you so much for your caring, and for your support, especially relative to posting videos about Boca and our surrounding area. We are getting this feedback from other viewers as well and it is definitely encouraging since we won't be back in France until October. Appreciate you and your kindness.
As being French, I would like to know if you speak french. If it is not the case, how do you intend to integrate the french society ? How will you do to make friends in France ? The barrier of language, is not a brake for integrating the french culture ? How do you do for the administrative procedures ? I wish you good luck,
Dear Ones: You did not fail! You learned something. You just simply took a detour. Having experienced something similar last year, I am back in the U.S. for a year. My son in law became ill and I came back to assist that young family. God has a plan for all of us. When I went to get my belongings out of storage, it was like Christmas times 100!!!! l love everything I had kept. Was it your intent to earn while you were in France? That changes the tax reporting burden. I am excited for your new plan and I will continue to wish and pray for your success and continued good health.
Hi Norma - Thank you for your encouragement and support. Yes, opening up the boxes from storage was very much like Christmas times 100 for me as well. And yes, I wanted to be able to continue meeting with my clients online, which really should not be considered making money in France, since it's making US money with US clients. That's one of the issues that makes France difficult for relocation. I'm only 58 and not ready to retire and give up making income. Malta and Portugal have digital nomad visas and I hope that France decides to allow this type of visa sometime in the future, since they are relatively new.
I’ve missed you and your husband. Please know that we will be here no matter what you post here on RUclips. You both are a very special couple and we are invested and attached to you as people. When you go back to France, that will be great to see , also. Take care of yourself first and we’ll still be here.
Thank you, Minnie. That is so lovely of you, and also very encouraging, considering we won't be back in France until October. We appreciate you and your support 🥰
You guys are awesome. God is using you both for incredible things. I started following you because my husband and I are going to Paris this spring and I’ve dreamt of visiting for 50 years. I appreciate the candid information you offer, not sugar coating things. Our minds bodies spirits need nurturing and care. I am curious to hear about the true nature of your adventure (even if negative). Please care for yourselves and each other. You’re an inspiration to many many people who dream of doing a move abroad and have no clue (doctors, language, money, culture, weather, politics and more). God bless you and your family. Welcome home. ❤
@@kjandtonylovefrance with the pension strikes spreading nationwide in France, your return to the US was serindipotus. Tear gas, dumpster fires, transit halts, garbage collection halted…that would have been excessive to manage while trying to post videos to RUclips and manage your health. We’re considering postponing our 5/23 trip to Paris and I’m sure God brought you both home in the nick of time. ❤
So glad you’re back! I’ve been reading the blog and realized how overwhelming this has been for you. Having been through a similar experience, I think people underestimate how stressful the combination of leaving your family, moving abroad, retiring, starting a new venture, physical injury or illness and other life events can be. Sometimes it takes a few attempts to find the right cadence. I also want to thank you for continuing to build community amongst those of us who love France. In the same way you feel about Paris, I dreamt of moving to Lyon but always wanted to live on the coast. Because of your channel, I’ve decided to visit Nice and Marseille later this year to see if either is right for me. In terms of content, it would be helpful to hear what you might have done, or would do, differently. What are your key take-aways from the experience so far - physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, etc? How will this inform your plans going forward?
Hi Linda! Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. I'm glad to know that we have helped inform your plans to move to France and that you are giving yhourself the opportunity to visit Nice and Marseille before you move. Thanks also for your questions that we will fully address during our next Q&A session. One thing I can tell that I've learned from our experience is knowing where you want to settle prior to the final transition to France. The moving from place to place was much harder than I ever anticipated it would be. This is part of the reason why I think you are wise to go check out a few other places before you move. Thanks again ❤️
@@kjandtonylovefrance Thanks, I think it's also vital to realize places change over time. After a career as a global expat, I thought I knew where I wanted to go but I spent another year traveling to 12 countries, spending 1 month in each. By the end, I was wiped out so I came back to the US to create a better plan. That was in 2018. In the interim, due to stricter visa rules, war or inflation, some places are no longer an option.
Hello KJ and Tony, It was so good to see your post today, just to know you two are doing fine. Life deals us some setbacks at times and we need to regroup and take another look at moving forward. So pleased to know KJ that you listened to your body and “just came home” no matter what the reason. That was Your Best Move! So pleased to hear you both still want to continue your travels in France, one at a time for now. My husband and I have visited Bayeux, Paris and Chamonix 5 years ago now. We truly were captivated by the western coast of France and by Paris itself. We are now planning another trip to Paris and Bayeux very soon and so enjoyed your adventure videos. But seeing to some very real health challenges before this undertaking. Life is short. Time to plan our adventures and be well and healthy first. Travel is for good health, not struggle. Looking forward to seeing more of your plans either for France or even Boca Ratan. Remember to shine where you find yourself. We have never seen Boca Ratan and would love to have an insiders view of where you may be in the moment. Only when you are up for it though. Love and light, Jean
I’m an American who moved to France. You have to learn how to speak French. All of what you are describing is a fear of not speaking the language. There are huge parts of France where no one speaks English.
I don't follow the channel but just stumbled across it. It seems, from an outsiders perspective, that the husband is much more passionate about living in Europe than the wife.
Seems better to come to France for long stays not move here, have your channel for adventures. Also French folks are not open like Americans. I live in Nice and the Niçoise are family oriented no room for strangers in their world, expats rely on Meetup to make friends. Stay fluid...
Who would be so rude to say you were a failure! Gosh , thank you for being so honest about your life . All good luck to you as you reset your plans . Whatever you decide is right for you and what ever you offer to people is so generous of you .👏
Having overcome depression 3 times in my life, I so relate to what you are telling us on your video. Whatever works for you, do it. Whatever makes you feel better, do it. There is so much help out there, so go for it and don't worry about what anyone thinks of you, your health is most important. Good luck in your decisions.
I am SO glad to see this post! I have been concerned about you two. I have to say THANK you SO very much for sharing this with us. It was not easy I know. I can totally understand what you've been thru and appreciate it too. I am sorry that this happened to you both. And I TOTALLY believe things happen the was they do for reasons. Reasons that we don't understand when they happen but later we go WOW! And it's usually a good wow, too. I adore watching you 2 and I will watch anything you choose to post here, there or anywhere. LoL!!❤😊
Thank you, Maxine ❤️ We so appreciate you and your kind words. It is so encouraging. And yes, I know we are back here in the US right now because this is where we need to be 🥰
Life experiences needn’t be evaluated as failures or not. Your journey is absolutely a triumph of spirit, adventure and transparency. As for me, I’m here to follow your journey however you choose to share it. Keep on healing and feel supported by this follower who you don’t know personally but who appreciates you both. ~Colleen
Thank you, Colleen! You, your kindness, your support and your encouragement are so VERY appreciated. As you said, we don't know each other personally, but I can feel your heart through your words and I am grateful for you. Thank you 💞
Travels ANYWHERE and tips and suggestions. Take us with you! Everything is timing and so much is out of our hands. Roll with it if you can and enjoy your life. 💞
Take time to get healthy. Don’t worry about what people might think or say…enjoy every moment with each other…one day at a time. Sending hugs, prayers, love and kindness.❤
I never thought about it in any depth before this video. It made me realize, as much as I love watching the adventures and renovations in France, Italy and the UK, there is no way that I would leave my state, much less my country for another. Thanks for this video. I would also experience a huge homesickness that time could not heal. I would have to click my heels and say, “There is no place like home.” Glad you are feeling better! 🙏🏼
The weather can be depressing and you could feel very isolated. Wish I could have put you in touch with my friend in Versailles. I hope you go back someday. Enjoy life.
Your experience is NOT a failure! You did what you wanted to do, and were transparent and courageous enough to decide that something wasn’t working…, that’s amazing. What strength and also clarity and focus that takes… I’m so sick and burnt out by the MANY millennial RUclipsrs having moved to France (on their families dime usually) vlogging about a life most of us can’t afford - it’s always felt so unauthentic. But never you two. Nothing is permanent and your dreams are always adapting and changing! Who knows what the future holds !! Most of all I am inspired by such transparency it’s so refreshing on this platform. My only suggestion would be - now is the time to truly immerse in French language studies as that will make a world of difference (I learned this the hard way myself!) I love Dr Stephen krashen’s language acquisition theory - incredible stuff… anyway, you guys are awesome and have inspired me ❤
I wish I could add something helpful but you two really have your heads screwed on straight. I had an older sister that was a “quitter”. She never finished anything in her life. In seeing her very poor life choices I became the exact opposite much to the detriment of my own physical and mental health. So, kj, you are not a quitter, you are correctly attuned to you and your needs. Both of you are admirable and are proceeding admirably. I watch people that I like so you’re good to go with me.
🍎KJ, beautiful day! You look like a beautiful blonde model, not to mention looking like the Kardashian's mother with her beautiful black short hair! I don't think my daughter and I would be saying that if your hair was white as you know! We believe in looking gorgeous and feminine, so we always stay with a high vibe and not a low vibe. I also think you will look fabulous with a little oil free powder blush, as it will make you look like you have a tan and not so pale. I think you will love it, but it has to be oil free and powder. We don't use blush because we have a natural olive complexion, but when you have a light complexion, people look a lot healthier with a little blot of blush and it also enhances your cheekbones. Maybe wear it just for the camera since thousands of people will see your videos. About your surgery. We're hoping you haven't had surgery as yet, because there's so much I can tell you about what causes knee pain and it's not because you're getting older. I had the same experience, but now I have no pain and without surgery. #1 Never use a pillow between your knees when sleeping because the blood needs to flow down to the toes for great circulation. #2 Never sleep with a wrap or a bandage on your knee because it also stops the circulation, only when you're walking and it should be moved when you're sitting down if you're wearing one, because it will also stop the blood from flowing. #3 I used to drink coffee, tea, and use syrups, and corn syrup, even ice cream will give you excruciating pain in the knee because of the corn syrup and preservatives. When I drank or ate these things, I don't get the pain right away until hours after, especially when sleeping. #4 If you insist you have to have coffee and tea and especially coffee creamers, cut way back or not at all and only have it for breakfast and lunch so your body can get rid of it before you get to sleep at night, never in the evenings. Even wine because it's loaded with sugar from the grapes and when you go to sleep at night, you're not walking around, so the sugar breaks down and goes to the knee and this is why people are having surgeries. #5 Try to detox and go on a vegetarian diet which means no animal meat or products and see if the pain goes away and then add it back one at a time so you can omit the ones that are causing you the pain. I have a big breakfast and a big lunch and I don't eat after 4 PM so my body can get rid of all sugars and preservatives and starches. Only water after 4 PM, nothing else and I have no more excruciating pain. Especially raw nuts, it's not heated through by baking or pan cooked, that will also cause pain because it's raw and full of oil and will cause a lot of pain, so do one nut at a time so you know which one you're allergic to. #6 I also don't believe in medication because of the many side effects especially depression, so I don't take medication. #7 Ask your doctor to do a complete blood test to see if you're low in iron, because if you are, that will cause a lot of depression. Your blood count has to be 12 points, if it's lower, that will cause a lot of depression. The only thing I take is 350 milligrams of Ferrous Sulfate, which is iron everyday and B12 everyday. Those are the only two vitamins I take and I'm always in a happy mood. It has to be taken in the morning with breakfast and I sleep a lot better. If your blood level is low like 8, 9 or 10, then you need two to three iron tablets a day until it goes up to 12 points, so it's very important you get a blood count test for iron. I also found out that dark chocolate, not milk chocolate, is the best thing for depression because it stimulates the happy mood. Try your best to stay away from things that has refined white sugar and lard, especially croissants that has a lot of butter, it's very bad for the joints in your body. Just wanted you to know why some people are allergic to certain foods and some are not. Try your best to detox and have a strict diet, so you can find out when you go to sleep at night, what you're allergic to and if you're serious, you can't eat at night and have a big breakfast and a big combination of lunch and dinner in the afternoon. Buy only sugar free pastries and I have pastries only for breakfast and lunch, never in the evening. Especially bottled juices, we only drink water and milk. Lots of water because it keeps your blood neutralized and you will lose a lot of weight that your body might be asking you to do. Buy for now.💐 PS. Not because your doctor says you need surgery means you have to have surgery. You can try the vegetarian diet and see the difference. Also cut back on cheeses like we did and add it back one at a time and find out which one you're allergic to, because they're full of salt and eat a lot lot less!
Thank you so much for all the helpful recommendations. As for the powder and blush, I have cystic acne. I know it may be hard to believe because I don't get break-outs anymore. One of the reasons I don't is because I only use sunscreen and a foundation that has proven not to break out my skin. Anything else I try on my skin, whether it's blush, powders or anything else, then I have a breakout. So rather than risk a breakout, I just use the same sunscreen and foundation every day. I also never ever sun bathe and I am very careful about my sun exposure because I've had skin cancer on my face. Let's just say, I've done my share of sunbathing. I have used self-tanners for my face that have worked and haven't caused me to break-out, but I've been lazy about it over the past couple of years. Perhaps I will try those again so that I don't look so pale. Thanks again for all the advice.
Tony looks so much like my brother, it blows my mind! Stigma? Not anymore. Most of humanity has experienced depression and or anxiety at some point. 41 years ago, I remarried, moved 2 hours away, and had a new baby all within 13 months. Depression hit me.... and panic attacks. I constantly hyperventilated and shook like a goof. I had a 4 y/o and a precious newborn, but I wanted to take my babies and go "HOME". Back then, no one knew how to help. My OB put me on massive amounts of Valium. I took 1 pill, and flushed the rest down the toilet. After 3 years of that plus another baby, I finally packed up the kids and moved "Home". Eventually, my husband moved back too. I'm also a very driven person, and that bout just about cooked me. Fortunately, now so much more is understood about depression, being stressed out. You seem to have a very understanding and caring husband, who seems to genuinely care FOR YOU. I don't know you, but your honest admission about what you went through could very well help and be an encouragement to others! I feel proud of you! As for Paris, the closest I've come to it is that I had a boyfriend whose mother was from France. LOL! I wish you both the very best!!
Hi, KJ and Tony! I missed you both, and was worried for you, since the last post. I'm cheering for both of you! Take care of YOU first! It's a learning experience and journey. I don't think it's you're a failure at all! I think that you have shared through your own experience of what to expect emotionally when one moves to another country. You formed beautiful memories with Tony and your son! I appreciated your sincerity for sharing your personal experience with your subscribers! Stay positive and healthy!
Nothing is permanent, that's just life. I will be headed to France as soon as my home is sold. I have no illusions about it. I know there will be many days when I will be homesick and miss my family, but I know if I don't pursue this dream I will regret it forever. I will stay for as long as I love it. I would like to know the top three things you would do differently next time. Thank you!
I think takes a lot of strength to listen to your body and take care of yourself. Your husband and family are a great support system for you. I am a fan and will continue to follow . I have been to France and can see why you both ❤️ it.
I just stumbled across your channel, and I already am in love with you guys. Your joy and sincerity come right through the screen, and your vulnerability is very moving. I want you to know that I can really relate to your story, even though my path has been different. My fiancé is French, and I spend part of every year in France with him, and I'm happy now, but it was a long road to get here. For several years we were bouncing around and landed in Lille for a year and a half. I was really depressed there. The weather was gray and humid almost all the time, and the architecture, while beautiful, is very dark and didn't help my mood. I also suffer from an autoimmune disease which can make my daily life challenging in several ways. Lastly, I was working online and didn't have friends or a community there. I was so unhappy. We finally bought an apartment in the southwest of France (Niort) and moved there last summer, and I've been so much happier. I need the sun and the dry weather (and the lighter brighter architecture), and also I've been able to start making friends and building a community. It makes all the difference. So, I want you to know that you are not alone, and that it's really really hard, and that even someone in my position who already speaks French and has lived in France and has ties through my fiancé can still be homesick and depressed, so you should not feel bad. Big hugs, and looking forward to seeing the rest of your journey!
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us, Rachel. It is especially helpful for me (KJ) and my experience. We are going to try again, but stay in one place this time for the entire year. I, too, work online, and it can be very isolating, especially when you don't know anyone. I'm looking forward to having a better experience with our move back to France next year.
@@kjandtonylovefrance I'm so glad if anything I've experienced can help you feel less alone in your journey. I am really optimistic for you that the second time around will be better, especially staying in one place. If I may make a suggestion, it would be to find expat and/or English language groups sooner rather than later. Of course you'll want to integrate into the French culture and eventually make French friends, but in the meantime it's really, really helpful to have a touchstone and a community that doesn't require mental effort. I finally found an English language meet-up in my city (it's small, very few expats here) and it's been great. Actually most of the members are French and are there to improve their English, but they're all just really nice people that I look forward to seeing every week, and it's leading to friendships outside the group.
Tony's comment about walking along the Seine struck a chord for me. I spent the month of May 2022 in Paris. The apartment I had was across the Seine from the Louvre, so just out the door. This was something I had promised myself for years and the month more than met my expectations.
KJ, you are only human. I moved from Europe to the US 30 years ago and I was so homesick for months.. You made a great decision to go home as it would have only gotten worse and you would have never settled.
Truthfully, many Americans who have or are in the process of moving abroad will be moving back to the United States. Europe and Latin America are wonderful places to visit, so is the Middle East and North Africa. But the quality of life we have here in the US is not easy to replicate abroad. I grew up in France and love visiting, but moving back is an entirely different story. TRAVEL 3 or 4 times a year.
I admire so much your honesty!! We lived in Strasbourg for 2 years in the 90’s! Even though my husband had lived overseas at various times growing up, we both had very similar feelings that you have experienced!! And our children, then young teenagers experienced challenging times too!! But we all agree that we are who we are because of how that time stretched us, refined us and strengthened our family and our faith!! And we are grateful!!! So be good to yourselves and do things when you feel ready!! Pray, find your joy each day and keep going!!! And thank you, you validated what we had gone through!! You are both strong, genuine people & obviously so supportive of one another!! Thank you!!!!
Your post means so much. Sorry that you struggled, but also glad to know you can relate. We definitely believe all challenges are opportunities 🙌 Thank you ❤️
Thank you for your honesty! I am a new subscriber. I loved your previous videos. Being a true Francophile I was drawn to your content. But more so I am amazed by your honesty and vulnerability. Your style of narration is non agitating, not selling anything to me I didn’t ask for. So, I will stay subscribed. You both make a lovely couple. Hope you feel better and go back to Europe to enjoy your retirement.
Thanks for subscribing. So glad to know you are enjoying the content. Thank you for your kind comments and we will be going back to Europe to enjoy our retirement.
Happy to see you together again. I have been single for almost 40 years (I'm 75 soon) and I enjoy change. Yes, the challenges are there, the adjustment is real, but there are only two types of people regarding this area, those who enjoy the stimulation of meeting new people, going to new places and absorbing a new culture fulltime, and those who don't, or can only manage a small dose of this type of immersion. My son who is married and has three children with his wife, he is the latter, and likes to make his place on the planet and stick to it, and in his case, the US. We are opposites in this way. So for the last decade, I did all the traveling back and forth to the US to stay with them for a few months each year. Now we are trying to find a better compromise so I can split my year up with 6 months in the US and 6 months in Italy. This is mostly for them I admit. And we all want my grandchildren to know who I am haha. I think finding a compromise between these two different types of people is important. I am just sharing my story with you and certainly not implying any application to your lives. But for sure, I really enjoy living in Italy and traveling in the EU. But on the other hand, the world is changing fast, and not for the better. So for me, I believe that each of us needs to trust God to put us where we need to be, and if that requires dramatic change, then He will give us the courage to do it. I hope you get better quickly KJ, and Tony, keep writing those blogs! 🙂God bless you both. 🌺
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and encouragement. We appreciate you, your kindness and your support. Good luck with your travels back and forth. God bless you and your family 🙏
🎶Reunited and it feels so good.🎶Glad to see you two together again. It is very stressful moving overseas and youtubing is a whole other realm. Whew. I'm glad you listened to your body, KJ. I'll watch you guys wherever you go. Wishing you both health and happiness.
KJ, I’ll bet your experience is relatable to anyone who has relocated, especially to a foreign country. It sounds like your Versailles location and the weather did not help. Knowing you needed knee surgery, and having your residences being uncertain, had to be weighing on you. I am glad you found your parents were doing well. You also identified how nice it is to have some personal things to live with. All in all, many good reasons to do a reset. You logged a lot of data points on your last trip. The next will be just that much better. I am here for whatever you feel is interesting. You guys are inspirational. 🌸
We are buying a house in the Loire Valley and keeping our vacation home in California. We are doing 90 days on and off. I think that will be a good balance for us. That way we stay on a tourist visa. We will start in October. We will do fall and spring in France and winter and summer in US.
Hi Wende - We have discussed this approach, which was initially going to be our approach and then we switched gears and decided to just "go for it" so to speak. I think the 90 day on/off is and will be a much better balance. We will also be in France in October. We'll be going back to Paris. Thanks for sharing your plans. It sounds like a great approach and wishing you a wonderful stay this fall.
You two are the stars and Paris is just the backdrop. I would like to see a tour and things to do at Bocca Raton too! You two are so brave and inspiring anything you show us will be entertaining ❤
Wow, that is so nice to hear and we appreciate your kindness and encouraging words. We will definitely be posting some videos that highlight Boca Raton. Thanks for your support.
Kudos to you both for having the courage to show your vulnerability ! I moved to Paris 3 weeks ago with my husband … we are in our 40s. We lived in India for a year before moving here. Prior to that, we lived in the US for 25 years. I never missed the US when I moved to India … however 2 days after I moved to Paris, I started missing india so much. I think I miss the warmth, the sun shine and the vibrancy of india. In comparison, Paris is very cold, cloudy and really rather organized and quiet. The homesickness comes in waves … and to add to this, my husband got shingles here. So we had to navigate the French health care system as well. My husband is slowly getting better … and I am struggling with my feeling of homesickness everyday. I hope these feelings settle down over time as I integrate more into this society and set up my own routine here.
Hi Gayatri - I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's shingles. Tony had shingles several years ago and it was awful. I'm also sorry to hear of your homesickness for India. Obviously, I can totally relate to how you are feeling and know how difficult those emotions are. There is definitely something to be said for the power of the sun. The weather change from when we were in Paris to when we moved to Versailles was significant and the sun was a rare occurrence. You are also facing some unexpected adversity, with the shingles and what you are having to navigate to address and cope with that situation. Give yourself some compassion and loving kindness, if possible. Also, are there any groups or resources that would help you feel more connected to India? Sending you love and prayers for your sadness to lift and physical healing for your husband 🥰🙏💞
@@kjandtonylovefrance thank you 😊🙏🏾 yes i am trying to actively connect to the community here, to the activities I used to do back home etc. Absolutely agree with you that sun shine and warm weather are so so important. Maybe that’s why I never missed the US when I moved to India … I used to live in cold cold wisconsin 😀.
You are the most important person in your story, and you made the correct decision and get the help and support you needed, your a stormy days will lift as you heal with you amazing supportive husband and family, a minor glitch on the road thank you for sharing
Hi Kj and Tony! Thank you for this update and I am glad you are feeling better, KJ. The two of you have done a wonderful job of taking us on your journey to France. I kept looking for new videos and I am glad you have explained what happened. I feel sure you will return when the time feels right. Your health is definitely a priority. Paris will always be waiting. I appreciate your honesty about the homesickness. I love France ( we were there a month in 2014) and the allure is real. Also real is missing the comforts of home. Get your knee done. Don’t pressure yourself.
Thank you for sharing. Your open honesty is something many of us share. Your experience was challenging with so many things at once. Best wishes for the path you choose. You have people to follow you that also love France.
People sharing their emotional learning experiences are so important so thank you - we mostly learn from our 'mistakes' which aren't mistakes at all but are learning opportunities. I appreciate you taking it in the right vein because that's how humans grow and become better, and through that others can learn that they too can take risks - and not only that, the rewards of being humans are revealed during these times, we come out happier and more satisfied. What a beautiful violinist at the end!
I think that the fact that you didn’t have yet your place where you could start to settle, not with you your most beloved things but also that you didn’t learn French at least a minimum to have basic interactions with the people were all combined the reasons why Kj experienced this sickness. Of course, her parents aging and the lack of sun during the winter in Ille de France didn’t help either but I think that when you can socialize and have a place that you can make your home it really helps. When I left Paris 10 years ago for the US, it is really what helped me.
I had a long career in television news and find you all more interesting than many of my favorite news shows. But no pressure! Post when you feel like it and we are here for you. It doesn’t need to be fancy. Just an occasional update from an interesting couple is great. Finding life after leaving busy careers… your road to recovery … travel… managing mental health… are all great topics you tackle so well. Once a month is great. Thank you for an inspiring update.
So happy you are settled for now and happy. Your transparency, your honesty, takes courage. A testament to your character. We look forward to your future adventures. You are a wonderful couple. Marlene and Greg
Hi Marlene & Greg! Thank you so much. We are happy to know you enjoyed the video and that you are looking forwad to future adventures. We greatly appreciate your support and kind words.
I understand lifelong depression. I will only thank you for your honesty about it. I also adore France. Just keep up what you love. I'll keep watching. 😊
Hi KJ and Tony, I've been following your channel and I am inspired by your spirit of renewal and change. I also enjoyed the beautiful "Ave Maria violinist" you posted at the end of this video. Your experience both in France and here give those who don't dare to get out of their comfort zone a little kick to dare and just try... Out of the box type of experience. Bravo to you and Tony!!! I live in Miami and was always an avid explorer of other cultures. Especially France. Keep posting your thoughts and videos, you guys are doing great!
I salute your bravery in being so forthright about what you’ve gone throughout. I want to offer you my experience to draw from whatever you will. I LOVE Paris! It has always been a special place in my heart and I would go whenever I got the chance. I felt so comfortable I thought about living there permanently. Then I lost my husband. My whole life changed. When I was able to come to terms with that I went again to Paris. That is when I realized I still loved it, but it was not home. My compromise is to visit longer when I do go (as long as permitted w/o a visa). I can see more of the country. I love the north west coast of France. I now know, however, that after several weeks at a time there I begin to miss things I also love about my “real” home. I miss being able to go from a big metropolitan area to the mountains or the desert in less than a day. I have my own states “Gold Coast” which is pretty spectacular in its own right. I can have the best of both worlds. Part of why Paris is so special is because I don’t live there. If I did, the things I treasure about Paris might begin to feel matter of fact…the way it does to some of my Parisian born friends. I hope you find your way to whatever makes you heart-happy.
I absolutely admire you guys for doing what's best for you as a couple. Dr. KJ, it's so important to know that you leaned into your feelings and "knew" that there was a significant change within yourself. Being aware of feelings on another level is the Universe speaking and you acknowledged that. I enjoy watching your videos and show them to my clients and groups all the time. Take care.
Thank you so much, Kelly. I'm so glad to know you are finding my videos helpful with your clients and groups ❤️🙏 We also both appreciate your kind comments and support 🥰
Hello KJ & Tony! It is so good to see the two of you back on your channel! I hoped you were well when your seemingly regular videos discontinued. So happy to see that you are well! I have an idea of how the language barrier, alone, could contribute to desperately wanting to return home, a comfort zone! Your courage to get as far as you did is very admirable. All the best to you moving forward!
I left my home country almost 40 years ago. Since then the place that I lived has always been home. You were not cut out for your move and you made the right decision and went back to the life you know. Not a failure perhaps but the easy way out. For most people Paris, Versailles and Nice are not France they are expensive places which suit expat lifestyles. France will not miss you, it’s your loss. Would you even have coped moving to a different state?
As we are older, in our almost mid 70’s we have a love for travel but cannot figure we could sell and re locate with family here…. We have decided to take 6 week stays in our favorite places. We like to make where we stay our own and Air BnB has helped us to make the places we stay like our own places. Last fall, we stayed in Nice and we had been there before and up and down the Core Azur. We visited Menton and love Antibes on either side of Nice. Beautiful beaches and weather!
I admire both of you so much. KJ, please get your knee replaced and allow ample time for recovery. I had mine done in Orlando in September, 2022. I cannot imagine tackling four flights of stairs on my old knee in addition to walking everywhere. You were simply worn out and your body made a definitive statement. You both are amazing and I’m looking forward to updates. The music at the end is exquisite! ❤
Thank you, Susan. Appreciate your kind words of encouragement and support. Yes, the music is one of the many street musicians Tony recorded in Nice. I forgot to mention in the video that it's from Nice.
I think that you should just do what you want to do. There is no "failure" -- life is life where ever you are. I could write a book on some of my misadventures, so no apologies necessary. Every day is a blessing no matter where you are. Glad that you are both safe and well.
I lived in Versailles back of Notre Dame ,and my boys went to school wonderful place and now living west in the Morbihan breton 21 years in France as French love it. Came over from silver lakes area of Miramar Florida never back !! Enjoy it fully here!
We know exactly where that is!! Our son loved Versailles. He would live there in a heart-beat. We are trying to convince him now to move with us when we decide where we're going to land.
Doing what is necessary for you to be happy and healthy is not failure. You are in the process of figuring out what is going to work for you. My husband and I sold our home in New Mexico that we had lived in for 26+ years and moved back to the west coast. We moved a bit south of Rosarito, Baja (Mexico). It’s a huge adjustment even if we are a short drive to California. We were without our household goods for about 6 weeks. It was difficult being without items that we had collected over 40 years of marriage; items that made our new place feel like a home. We are still adjusting as the idea was to be oceanfront (we are) with lovely sunshine (too much May gray/June gloom during the months we’ve been here. I miss my NM sunshine, the wildlife, and my wonderful friends. So, relax and enjoy this part of your journey. You know more about what is important to you and which cities are not ideal for this adventure. From another KJ (Kathleen Jan), you will get to where you want to be. It just may be another path.
Hi KJ! Thanks so much for your words of encouragement and for sharing your experience. All of the comments and support from people have been so helpful in normalizing this experience for me. There was a period of time when I felt like it was just me not being strong enough but the grieving process is real. It definitely is a huge adjustment. I hope you continue to settle into your new home and feel more and more comfortable where you are. Thanks again for your suppport❤️
So glad you are taking care of yourselves. You are inspirations in many ways, brave, adventurous and human. Thank you, I recently had a health scare that threw me into depression. I am feeling so much better and knowing others are walking thru this too helps me be brave as well.
Thank you, Susan. I appreciate your kindness and support. Glad to know that you are feeling better from your own health scare and that my sharing has helped you.
Very intelligent and mature decision. You need a new plan. That might be one month or two every year, or one month or two twice a year. It may be that the ideal life would be to life in Florida part of the time, and in Europe part of the time. In fact, that seems to me to make more sense if you have family in the U.S. So I look forward to seeing the videos showing you working towards the new plan. Good for you. Sticking with something that's not working is always a bad idea.
I admire your courage and have a similar dream. As far as the knee goes, I have had an injury to my left that progressed over 5 years and I had a replacement - a zimmer prosthesis- best thing I ever did. Painful because I refused all meds but Tylenol. My decision does ot have to be yours of course. Homesickness. I am a traveler but experienced homesickness after 3 months in Europe. I too need a home base. KJ you are so lovely and so good to your husband. So kind. I so wish you could be kind to yourself. I wish both of you continued love and elevators. ❤❤❤Barbara Hill
You are both terrific. V honest. And, I get it, completely. Not a failure. It’s a process. Like chapters in a book. Anyone who moves to another country experiences a lot of these feelings! We moved to Prague a long time ago. Came back to NYC. Have spent 20 years on and off in Paris. And, Had one hip done, v humbling but it’s getting great. Totally respect you guys. You are in good company.
Hello K.J. And Tony: I just returned from Columbia, S.A. and was thinking of you wondering if all was well (or not). When planning a major event that inevitably will change your daily routine, your way of thinking and your perspective of the moment, we wonder, in reality, how we may or may not react. It’s obvious that you love France and that you have chosen to still pursue your passion but by taking a step back it allows clarity and a vision of new approaches to what it is you are seeking. Be gentle with yourselves, be kind and true to yourselves, and as is evident you are a team cheering and protecting each other. It is with deep gratitude that you are sharing this chapter of your lives. We your subscribers are cheering you on.
Hi KJ & Tony! I have enjoyed watching your channel because bring your authentic selves & experiences in France to each video! As you regroup and refresh, just remember this is your life; we are flattered to just be along for the ride!! Your life means taking care of you first; we will still be here to enjoy whenever you decide to post!! I am heading to Paris next month to visit family, my father’s grave site and get outside of Paris for new adventures! I will toast to you both while in Paris! 🍷 Thank you for sharing your new developments; be very proud of what you have accomplished and will accomplish moving forward at your desired pace!! ❤ Lisa
Thank you, Lisa. We appreciate your support and encouragement. Wishing you a wonderful visit to Paris next month, and especially hope all the protests are resolved by then 🙏
Hats off to you both for doing what you did in the first place. It took guts to up and move abroad. It didn’t work out this time but it will in the end. You did exactly the right thing in moving back to the US - your health is the most important thing ! I’ll look forward to your video about Nice. How about you show us something of where you are in Florida and make a few vids around that? Wishing you both all the best ! ❤
I’m behind in watching your videos & knew you were back in Florida, but not why, so it was very good to hear this! I’m sure you will preplan for your next trip & enjoy your time in France! Blessings! 💜
My daughter and I stayed for a month in the 16th. and was the best time of my life so I love hearing all about your experiences and love of Paris too. Thank you for being so honest and sharing your bout of depression which thankfully has become much less of the stigma it was in the past. I truly believe this is due to famous people, celebrities, and people like yourself sharing your experiences making it commonplace as it should always have been. I too have had depression and believe ive helped others by sharing and then they open up about their own experience. Please take good care of yourselves and continue at the pace thats right for you. Look forward to more in your own time. ❤️🗽🗼
Hey guys! Wishing you well, thanks for sharing your story, it’s important to share struggles as well as fun! Keeping you guys in my prayers! Looking forward to anything you post! ❤🌻🌻🌻
Yes! A total success...just a step around and yes!! Your "things about you" ....important. So glad you have more insight now. The next leg of your journey will be fortified with EXPERIENCE. You two are just wonderful.
Admirable couple 💕 Take risks to me means: feel free and alive. As an expat in The Netherlands 🇳🇱 I realise is a question of be brave and passionate about restart. Congratulations 👏 and I wish you all the best 🌅 believe in your plans, follow your intuition, always. 🌸
Hello KJ and Tony, as like all the followers I been looking and waiting for an update. I’m so happy that you are doing well. I don’t see any failures this is your life and your journey that you wanted to share with all of us and I think that’s why everyone loves you and the video blew up because you’re so transparent and you want to do something different that probably so many people would want to do but for so many reasons they don’t or can’t. I totally can relate to you , my move to USA was little different, I was young ,however it is a huge change. Thank you for having the courage to share , you don’t own anyone anything. 💝
I'd rather live my life with "failures" than regrets. Failures lead to growth while regrets lead to depression.
Absolutely!
Thank you so much for your support and encouragment!
Thank you, Marie! So appreciate this post 💞💞💞
I would like to visit Paris and do those exact things that you spoke of. Debby in Kansas
I’m glad you prioritized your own health. I love watching your videos, but YOU matter more than anything 🙏🏻❤️
Thank you, Suzanne 🥰
KJ and Tony, I just discovered your videos today. All this resonates so much with me. My husband and I live in Miami, Florida. We have been talking about moving away for years, and France has been high on our list. I know both Paris and Nice very well (I am European and a French teacher), and, although I love both, I would prefer to live in Nice, and just visit Paris. For us, Floridians, used to seeing the sun every day, the south makes sense. Your experience is not a failure. Finding out what we want and how to achieve it is a process. You are inspirational. I wish you the very best!
"Finding out what we want and how to achieve it is a process." So much clarity! Debby in Kansas
Thank you, Sharon 🥰
Take care.
That is so interesting. I was a 3rd grade teacher at a military base, and am now retired. Debby in Kansas
Love and appreciate you, Debby in Kansas!!
Thank you and bless you both for been honest x
It's so nice to see you both. KJ, you don't 'have to' post a video every week. We'd rather wait for one when you are free and liking to post, than feeling compelled and under pressure. It's your experience of France and not a job or a chore. It's the joy that you feel in your experience, that we enjoy. Best to you both! 👍👍👍💖💖💖
Thank you so much. We appreciate your encouragement and support!!
Thanks, Chris. We appreciate your kind words of encouragement and support. Tony says hello 👋
i wondered how you were doing. so sorry to hear about your depression, but although i don't suffer with depression, i do get home sickness; we have been living in france for 16 years, but its really hard.
Amen! Debby in Kansas
Thank you, Stephana. I appreciate your kind comments. We will also address your question in our next Q&A video🥰
Much love. Suzi Gemini
Oh my gosh, Suzi! We are so sorry to hear that. How traumatic for you Sending you lots of love, hugs and prayers your way 🫂
I lived in France about 40 years ago.
Thanks for your encouragement and support ❤️
I've lived abroad twice in my life. I would say 4 out f 5 Americans return home within 5 years. With all our problems and the changes here, I am an American girl at heart. Just retired from nursing and am happy here in beautiful Northern Arizona. Thanks for being so honest and real.
You're welcome. Gla dyou enjoyed.
Dear KJ and Tony,
Your adventure in France has been so inspiring.
Thank you so much, Brian. Appreciate your support and encouraging words.
I'm so glad you found it helpful ❤️
Thank you, Carolyn. We appreciate your caring and support 🥰
Thank you, Wendy. We really appreciate your perspective and kind words.
Learning what is best for you is not failure, it's insight.
Yes, we agree. Thank you!
Thank you, Marcia. Appreciate your caring and your support 🥰
I wish you good luck,
Thank you. I (KJ) start French classes on April 17th. I'm very excited, as I know very little (en peu) right now.
I really appreciate your honesty, and make a big move is always difficult. Keep going!
Thank you! We plan to.
Dear Ones:
You did not fail!
Thank you so much. Your support, encouragement and kind comments are greatly appreciated. Yes, there is so much to consider when moving abroad.
I just love hearing you both talk, so it doesn’t matter what you do on this channel. I am really glad you knew yourself enough to go home.
Hello KJ and Tony,
It was so good to see your post today, just to know you two are doing fine.
I’m so happy to see the two of you!! Go at your own pace and take care of yourselves. I’ll be standing by for whatever you share. ❤❤
Thank you for the love and support 💞
I’m an American who moved to France. You have to learn how to speak French.
All of what you are describing is a fear of not speaking the language. There are huge parts of France where no one speaks English.
We do know some French and spoke French to the degree that we were able. We are actually starting French lessons next week. This is a priority to us.
I don't follow the channel but just stumbled across it. It seems, from an outsiders perspective, that the husband is much more passionate about living in Europe than the wife.
Not true, but the wife has parents and it's a complicated situation.
@@kjandtonylovefrance Totally understand 💓
Seems better to come to France for long stays not move here, have your channel for adventures. Also French folks are not open like Americans. I live in Nice and the Niçoise are family oriented no room for strangers in their world, expats rely on Meetup to make friends. Stay fluid...
Who would be so rude to say you were a failure! Gosh , thank you for being so honest about your life . All good luck to you as you reset your plans . Whatever you decide is right for you and what ever you offer to people is so generous of you .👏
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement😊
Having overcome depression 3 times in my life, I so relate to what you are telling us on your video. Whatever works for you, do it. Whatever makes you feel better, do it. There is so much help out there, so go for it and don't worry about what anyone thinks of you, your health is most important. Good luck in your decisions.
Thank you, Joan ❤️
I am SO glad to see this post! I have been concerned about you two. I have to say THANK you SO very much for sharing this with us. It was not easy I know. I can totally understand what you've been thru and appreciate it too. I am sorry that this happened to you both. And I TOTALLY believe things happen the was they do for reasons. Reasons that we don't understand when they happen but later we go WOW! And it's usually a good wow, too. I adore watching you 2 and I will watch anything you choose to post here, there or anywhere. LoL!!❤😊
It's amazing (the things that happen) to guide us to the right choice. Debby in Kansas
Thank you, Mille! We'll share as much as we can 🥰
Take time to get healthy. Don’t worry about what people might think or say…enjoy every moment with each other…one day at a time. Sending hugs, prayers, love and kindness.❤
Thank you, Kaye. Sending hugs, prayers, love and kindness right back your way 💞
I never thought about it in any depth before this video. It made me realize, as much as I love watching the adventures and renovations in France, Italy and the UK, there is no way that I would leave my state, much less my country for another. Thanks for this video. I would also experience a huge homesickness that time could not heal. I would have to click my heels and say, “There is no place like home.”
Glad you are feeling better! 🙏🏼
We are so glad you found the video to be helpful. I love the Wizard of Oz reference. One of my favorites from childhood 💫
The weather can be depressing and you could feel very isolated. Wish I could have put you in touch with my friend in Versailles. I hope you go back someday. Enjoy life.
Thanks, Caryn. I hope so too.
My only suggestion would be - now is the time to truly immerse in French language studies as that will make a world of difference (I learned this the hard way myself!) I love Dr Stephen krashen’s language acquisition theory - incredible stuff… anyway, you guys are awesome and have inspired me ❤
Thank you so much, Anne. Yes, we have started French lessons 2x a week.
Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. It really touches my heart ❤️
Buy for now.💐
PS.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience ❤️ So glad people are better educated today about mental health!
Thank you! We so appreciate your support and words of encouragement 🥰
I admire you both so much for your courage - and your willingness to share your entire learning experience, the whole journey, with us.
Thank you, Sherri 🥰
Nothing is permanent, that's just life. I will be headed to France as soon as my home is sold. I have no illusions about it. I know there will be many days when I will be homesick and miss my family, but I know if I don't pursue this dream I will regret it forever. I will stay for as long as I love it. I would like to know the top three things you would do differently next time. Thank you!
Thanks, Terry. We'll answer those questions in our next video!
I think takes a lot of strength to listen to your body and take care of yourself. Your husband and family are a great support system for you. I am a fan and will continue to follow . I have been to France and can see why you both ❤️ it.
Thank you, Florence. Yes, I have a great support system.
Thank you, Patricia. I appreciate the support 🥰
Maybe iets an idea to take french lessons in the mean time? Taks care!
YES! Great idea!!
We definitely believe all challenges are opportunities 🙌 Thank you ❤️
Its great to see you back. Hope to see you back in France. I can fully understand how you feel. Good bless you love you both from Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you so much 🥰
Thank you for your honesty!
I have looked forward to each and every video you make. Your team work as a couple is so endearing! Whatever you decide I’ll support ❤
Thank you, Karen!! So appreciate you and your support ❤️❤️❤️
🎶Reunited and it feels so good.🎶Glad to see you two together again. It is very stressful moving overseas and youtubing is a whole other realm. Whew. I'm glad you listened to your body, KJ. I'll watch you guys wherever you go. Wishing you both health and happiness.
Thank you, Angela 💜 We appreciate your support and your best wishes 🥰
KJ, I’ll bet your experience is relatable to anyone who has relocated, especially to a foreign country. It sounds like your Versailles location and the weather did not help. Knowing you needed knee surgery, and having your residences being uncertain, had to be weighing on you. I am glad you found your parents were doing well. You also identified how nice it is to have some personal things to live with. All in all, many good reasons to do a reset. You logged a lot of data points on your last trip. The next will be just that much better. I am here for whatever you feel is interesting. You guys are inspirational. 🌸
Thanks for the words of support and encouragement. We really appreciate you 💜
Thank you KJ i think im living in depression too these days. Im so grateful you have the willingness to always be authentic even when we dont want to.
I'm sorry to hear about the depression. It's definitely hard when you are in that state of mind. Sending you love, light and prayers 💜💫🙏
I've had shingles and they are so painful. The weather will improve and things will get busier. Best wishes to you!
@@betteurbain7911 thank you 😊🙏🏾
@@kjandtonylovefrance thank you 😊🙏🏾 yes i am trying to actively connect to the community here, to the activities I used to do back home etc.
Thank you, Candy. We appreciate your care and support 🥰
Thank you for sharing. Your open honesty is something many of us share. Your experience was challenging with so many things at once. Best wishes for the path you choose. You have people to follow you that also love France.
Thank you so much!
@@kjandtonylovefrance you’re welcome .
Thank you for sharing your story and your genuine transparency ❤wishing you well.
Thank you so much!
Thank you for your kind comments. It is greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Chrystele. Appreciate your perspective.
Thank you, Rebecca. What a nice compliment and encouraging words. We greatly appreciate you and your support!
Thank you 🥰
Hi KJ and Tony,
I've been following your channel and I am inspired by your spirit of renewal and change.
That's so great that you got that clarity. You now know what "home" means to you.
Thank you for this wonderful insight ❤️
Thank you, Theresa. Appreciate your kindness and support!
I couldn’t hit the ‘like’ button fast enough ❤️ welcome back ❤️
This made me smile😊 Thank you, Karen ❤️
That sounds like a wonderful approach. Any recommendations relative to Airbnb's in Nice?
Well said! Yes, every day is a blessing 🙏
@@kjandtonylovefrance best of luck bon vent !
Thanks, Nancy. Yes, we think more back and forth will be in our future.
I wish both of you
continued love and elevators. ❤❤❤Barbara Hill
Thanks, Barbara. Appreciate your kind words, support and encouragement ❤️
Thank you ☺️
Thank you, Paula! We greatly appreciate your words of encouragement and support 🥰
Thank you for sharing your new developments; be very proud of what you have accomplished and will accomplish moving forward at your desired pace!! ❤
Lisa
Thank you, Lisa. We appreciate your support and encouragement. Wishing you a wonderful visit to Paris next month, and especially hope all the protests are resolved by then 🙏
Hats off to you both for doing what you did in the first place. It took guts to up and move abroad. It didn’t work out this time but it will in the end. You did exactly the right thing in moving back to the US - your health is the most important thing ! I’ll look forward to your video about Nice. How about you show us something of where you are in Florida and make a few vids around that? Wishing you both all the best ! ❤
Thank you, Andy. We appreciate your support and encouragement. We will definitely be sharing videos from Florida in the coming months👍
I’m behind in watching your videos & knew you were back in Florida, but not why, so it was very good to hear this! I’m sure you will preplan for your next trip & enjoy your time in France! Blessings! 💜
Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, we already have a trip planned for October.
Thank you ❤️
Thank you for your honesty. Our body tells us when we need to stop what were doing and take care of ourselves.. Totally can relate
Hey guys! Wishing you well, thanks for sharing your story, it’s important to share struggles as well as fun! Keeping you guys in my prayers! Looking forward to anything you post! ❤🌻🌻🌻
Thank you so much!!
It's good you figured this out. Hopefully the learning will stay with you both as you make plans for future moves and travels.
Yes, definitely a learning experience 🙌
Yes! A total success...just a step around and yes!! Your "things about you" ....important. So glad you have more insight now. The next leg of your journey will be fortified with EXPERIENCE. You two are just wonderful.
Thank you for your encouragement 💞
Admirable couple 💕 Take risks to me means: feel free and alive. As an expat in The Netherlands 🇳🇱 I realise is a question of be brave and passionate about restart. Congratulations 👏 and I wish you all the best 🌅 believe in your plans, follow your intuition, always. 🌸
Thank you, Ana. We appreciate your kind words of encouragement.
Thank you, Silvia. We appreciate you, your kindness and support. Sending you much love and gratitude ❤️🤗
