  • This video explains the steps of how to add and browse for classes on the student portal (SIS portal) for students attending one of the 9 community colleges in the LA Community College District (LACCD).
    This video uses ELAC (East LA College) as an example to show the process in which students can search and add classes on their student portal.
    The first half of the video explains the process of adding classes through class search and enroll.
    The second half of the video explains the process of browsing and adding classes for students that want to take classes at a school that isn't their homeschool, but at one of the other 9 college in the LACCD district instead.

    The open enrollment date was EXTREMELY helpful, I was confused why I couldn't enroll.

      Glad this information was helpful to you. Most students who are unable to enroll into courses usually try to enroll before their enrollment date. I highly suggest that you check your enrollment date for each semester that way you are aware when your system will unlock and allow you to enroll into classes for that session/semester.

    Also when you add it to your shopping cart, you go to that section and then enroll or how?

    • @ELACWelcomeCenter
      @ELACWelcomeCenter  2 года назад +1

      Once all classes are in your shopping cart, you will have to wait until your enrollment date for the semester before enrolling into the course. You can check your enrollment date under "Manage classes", then select "Enrollment dates". Once your enrollment date has come, a green button will appear at the upper right hand side of your shopping cart. You must select all courses you wish to enroll into, then select the green "enroll" button to finish enrolling into the courses. You can then check to see if you have successfully enrollend into the courses by selecting the "View my classes" option under "Mange classes" on your portal. Any course that you have enrolled into will appear there along with your status: enrolled, dropped, waitlisted. What if it’s unassigned ? The enrollment date?

    • @ELACWelcomeCenter
      @ELACWelcomeCenter  2 года назад

      Unassigned enrollment date usually means that your enrollment date will be the "open enrollment start date" listed under "Enrollment dates" for the semester. Students who get this message will usually have a date assigned to them the following session/semester.

    Do you need a permission number to enroll? Or Once you have the classes in your cart will you automatically be enrolled for that class if it says there’s availability?

    • @ELACWelcomeCenter
      @ELACWelcomeCenter  2 года назад +1

      You will need a permission number to enroll into a class if: the class is waitlisted and your professor sends you a permission code to enroll into their course; if the class is closed and the professor provides you with a permission code to enroll into their course; and if you plan on enrolling into courses after the first day classes start, you can only enroll into them if you have a permission code from the professor or else the system will give you an error message saying that you need permission to enroll at this time. Please keep in mind the add deadlines listed on the academic calendars for each semester when trying to enroll into courses with permission codes ( www.elac.edu/Academics/Schedule-of-Classes ). If the class is open, you do not need a permission code to enroll into the course. You will not be automatically enrolled into classes in your shopping cart. You must enroll yourself into any course that appear in your shopping cart once your enrollment date has come. A green button will appear at the top right hand corner of your shopping cart that says "enroll". If you are unsure as to whether or not you have sucessfully enrolled into a course, please refer to the "view my classes" option under "Manage classes" on your student portal. Any class that you have enrolled into will appear there along with your status: enrolled, dropped, waitlisted. Please visit our Welcome Center livechat at: www.elac.edu/Student-Services/Welcome-Support-Resource-Center/Live-Chat if you have any further questions or concerns.

    how can I upload my transcript to the LACC portal as a transfer student to enroll in the classes?

    • @ELACWelcomeCenter
      @ELACWelcomeCenter  2 года назад

      You will have to send a copy of your official transcripts from your other college/university to our ELAC Admissions and Records office. Some schools use third party websites such as Parchment to request and send official transcripts. Please connect with your college/university to ask how they send official transcripts to other schools. Please visit our Welcome Center website at www.elac.edu/Student-Services/Welcome-Support-Resource-Center/Live-Chat if you need further assistance.

      it means the college has issued a hold on your record meaning you still have something to resolve eg. (pay a bill, return a book), do something (orientation), or see someone (advisement) before the hold can be removed.

    what about adding to the waitlist? Do you still need a permission # to be added to WL?

    • @miguelvelasquez9405
      @miguelvelasquez9405 4 года назад +1

      You can add yourself to the wait list by clicking the box that says "wait list if full" and then the professors will add you if they have open seats.

    • @ELACWelcomeCenter
      @ELACWelcomeCenter  2 года назад

      If you are on a waitlist and the professor has seats available in their class to add you, they will provide a permission number/code that you will use to enroll into their course on your student portal. You will enroll into the class as you usually would, however, there will be a step that asks for the permission number/code. You will provide the system with the code and it will allow you to enroll into the course.
