I wont save money, I pay them nothing.
I have IPTV. I can pause it. It just looks like a rented film or TV show, when I do that. I win and I do it all the time. IPTV is £50 pounds a year.
@@jameswatsonatheistgamer Never heard of this... any suggestions???
The BBC to become unrecognizable? YES PLEASE!
All I ask is for them to allow watching live tv but NOT from the BBC
yes indeed. why must we pay for streaming stuff that doesnt come through an aerial?
@@conradswadling8495 only if it's live broadcasting, not for Netflix etc.
Your TV works fine without a TV licence.... just saying!
Just give up all TV. You will never miss it.
I watch ads to view other channels. I couldn't give a toss what the so called law states.
paying the bbc to have sky tv or virgin tv is a scam alone. then we still have to pay those companys for the packages
I got a letter saying they consider my property does not have a TV licence it will never have a licence
My property doesn't have a gun licence either
The bbc will argue that they get a licence fee AND do adverts!
When the BBC is funded by adverts just think how much more professional they will have to be by not being able to burn all that meaningless public cash all over the place 🤣
I stopped my licence 18 months ago. I don’t miss the BBC one bit.
Whenever I'm at someone's house and bbc is on their TV, i cant believe how many adverts the bbc has on between programmes. Its just that the ads are for their own shows
Not interested in BBC anymore totally biased in politics
Finally I now know what BBC stands for...... Bullied By Capita!
Every body needs to see this
I still wouldn't watch any bbc properganda stuff. And believe me im puttung that midley.
Get rid of Gary big ears & Zoe ball it would make it almost 4.1 billion
Million
Yeah but then take into account that there’s their annual employees’ kids come and work at the nepotistic BBC for the rest of their lives day.
@@mygreatbigfoot1679 I'm surprised we haven't seen or heard the children of Fiona Bruce, Huw Edwards, David Attenborough, among others, over the airwaves.
I think not showing adverts is to keep BBC impartial, but I keep seeing BBC articles and finding myself saying 'more BBC propaganda'
To maintain the illusion of impartiality, perhaps. In its news and current affairs programmes, the BBC has not been impartial for decades now.
Anyway, forget the BBC showing adverts under the BBC banner. They don't want to, they much prefer their funding handed to them on a plate and no government would ever allow it.
BBC is government propaganda. It always has been, but this wasn't so obvious in the days of 4 channels and no internet.
BBC is also funded by a tax, but because it's thinly disguised so as not to look like a tax, people can't work this out, so they think it's independent.
BBC isn't impartial habit been for years. They are even afraid to call terrorists what they are
It's the state propaganda tool in my opinion.... They'll NEVER go subscription because of the crap they constantly play.. no one in their right mind would subscribe
@@loonaticsrunningtheassylum Nobody would pay for a subscription-based system, but they'll keep on paying the licence fee each year.
My car radio only gets Heart, I don't watch telly and there's lots to see on the interweb.
You don't need a licence for radio, even bbc radio.....
Jon it don’t matter to me I am licence free for life I don’t watch tv
It simply comes down to the fact that the BBC doesn't want to give up a good thing as they've been raking it in for decades without even trying.
the lottery is a commercial enterprise so the lottery show is one long advert
It does show ads usually for BBC stuff and programs how does the accounting work for that I wonder?
All TV channels promote their own shows, it's not really advertising. It might be annoying, but they're not taking money from a third party to advertise anything.
"pays ridiculous salaries to people who sell crisps" LOL who could that be I wonder?!😉
Well he does not need to sell crisps now as he has inveigled his way in to the chosen few of the ultimate celebrity sugar daddy the BBC.
When you get a letter and Crapita is the return address on the envelope, and its something about PIP not TV licenses.
There must come a point where so many people abandon the TV licence (it is currently about 15% of households), that the comnercial companies realise that those households are shut off from them. That might prompt them to demand change.
It's more likely that the government will include the TV licence as part of our council tax or a media tax.
@@englishciderlover7347Yes. Income tax would be my bet.
But the status quo is really not likely to continue.
When me and my sister was very young we love the adverts. Tetley T bags , from the 70s /80s there no reason why bbc can’t show adverts
There'd want both knowing them.
I chating only a couple of days ago on forum saying I don't have a TV, from that it led to me saying I don't have a TV licence and telling others they only need one for 2 things, if you don't watch either of those you do not need a licence, I explained what to do if they get a knock on the door from a goon.
There was one other person supporting what I was saying, we even went on to say about the detector vans being a haox, then some were saying they have read of ppl being fined coz they were detected, I was going on saying no they were not, they got fined coz they answered the door and even let them in. Then a few said well better to be safe than sorry I still buy a licence, so you can see the fear they have, 'Better to be safe than sorry' is what they live by and they would buy a licnence if it was £300 and go hungry. I gave up with my argument but there was no way of convincing them.
Some people simply cannot be helped, no matter how much you try.
Just got back from a short break in the Caribbean. Non stop BBC and ‘live’ UK TV being viewed via satellite and freeview box. Funnily enough, UKTVGold was scrambled , so you had to pay for that. But UK households had to pay for the rest.
They DO advertise on the BBC though. I was at a mates house and his Mrs was watching EastEnders. In the shop, they were having a gossip in a corner. On the shelves behind, everything was unidentifiable apart from SunPat peanut butter and Birds Custard. Wonder how much they are getting for sly product placement?
If the BBC extortion tax becomes part of the council tax, there will be open fury in the streets. A line will have been well-and-truly crossed!
Well nobody is displaying any 'fury' about mass |mmigrat|0N being funded by our taxes so I can't see that happening.
I'm watching you on RUclips, I've also been watching ads for BBC on RUclips. The stench of hypocrisy burns my nostrils, i was watching the Duran for real news and 3 ads for BBC were shown
Show adds and get rid of the goons that hassle poor and vulnerable people
The BBC would never show mercy for anyone guaranteed 👍😎👍🏴🇬🇧
Those Capita goons need to get themselves some proper jobs.
Capita door to door salesman are God's to the BBC.
One major issue, i reckon, is that the bbc ignores the age groups that actually pay the licence fee. I would like to see the age profile figures for licence fee payers and the age profile figures for bbc employees!
The BBC could show adverts 24/7 without showing a single programmes and it would never raise anything near the amount of money it recives via the "TV tax".
They would have to reduce their bloated salaries, pensions, expenses and overheads to "commerical" levels - that would mean an 80% reduction in everything they pay out.
Companies like Netflix have a much greater budget and far more viewers.
The BBC is killing itself by remaining wedded to the tax instead of a subscription service.

Instead of giving all those studios, tv programmes etc that we have paid for. The government should do a share option and sell it off. Its worth billions so why should they get all that for nothing. Sell it off and privatise it.
Pretty sure the beeb own uktv and they show ads on their channels.
I did mention that
@@ChilliJonCarne Sorry Jon I had what they politely call a senior moment lol
Forget the BBC showing adverts under the BBC banner. They don't want to, they much prefer their funding handed to them on a plate and no government would ever allow it.
The BBC does own other channels, UK Gold, for example, but these do not broadcast under the BBC banner and most people have no idea that they are owned by the BBC. Perception is everything to politicians and BBC executives.
I don't pay my licence, but I do listen to 6 music everyday of my life , where else would I find new music to listen to .
Will we get local tv and radio for our 15 min cities 🤣🤣🤣🤣
No, all you'll get is a live feed from the local mosque!
The only radio worth listening to is Ken Bruce on Greatest Hits.
It means that the people would save 160 a year to spend on the advertised goods thus around 4 bn going into the economy causing growth. You don't get growth giving it to public bodies,
If you have ever been unfortunate enough to hear women's hour on Radio 4 you will know that a lot of advertisements within that slot would make a vast improvement in programme content.
I think the BBC would be out of business if they didn't have the support of the Government
Not all British households are struggling - many are doing very well!
I am getting by quite well. Still not paying the atrocious BBC, though.
There you are, I have gone from doing quite well to doing quite well plus £169:50.
I have around £1960.00 spare cash per month since I finished mortgage.
And guess what???
The BBC aren't getting a penny of it!
And? That means I have to fund the BBC because?
@@zemethius because you watch live TV and/or iPlayer. I don't watch either so I am not obliged to pay it.
@@ep1929 Wrong. On both counts. If the BBC went under tomorrow I would not miss it. I simply feel it's unjust to pay the license fee to be able to watch non BBC channels live.
The BBC have been showing adds for decades. Just watch any sport they show and you will see sponsors everywhere especially at football matches and they've been doing that since the sixties.
Wimbledon's about the only sports event without a sponsor and with advertising-free spaces where the action takes place.
Have you seen the BS with Netflix? Now they have had some live events it's being claimed they fall under need a licence.
I don't think the BBC don't wanna be seen as cheap too show ads, they always been seen for king and country and that's the way it will stay.
Funnily enough both Heart and Greatest Hits are growing their audiences, despite having adverts. For those who really can't stand Ads, they offer a subscription service that plays an additional music track in place of the adverts. Everyone wins!
Greatest Hits is brilliant
Heart 80's is great, one of my favourites when I'm on the road.
Well said johnny🤣👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I used to listen to the radio for the music in my workshop but when I hear two people rattling on about how they enjoyed their holiday abroad & what they are planning for next year, or what they've had for breakfast, that tee's me off. Why can't we have just one station that plays none stop music. I now play my c'd's instead. Thanks for a great video mate.
I haven't listened to radio in 45 years.... advertise all you want!! 🤪
BBC has used ads for a long time, I stopped paying my license fee back in around 2008/2009 when I noticed them posting old videos of Top Gear and the likes on the BBC Worldwide RUclips channel... With adverts running prior to and in said videos.
What we need is a promise we will not be issued with a media tax!
All argue that the licence is not.a tax it is a subscription simply do not subscribe
Who are you expecting to make such a promise? Certainly no politician will nor will Tim Divvy!
Hi, Jon. The BBC lose if they stop the TV licence. As they would have to make better programs to get the adds on them. Also they would not send the goons around to scare people to get a TV License. So the goons loose there jobs. Why has the goverment made every TV station under the same thing like you cant watch live TV on any of them without a TV License. Well if I was a TV station owner in the UK and showing adds. I wound want my part of the TV License money. Because the BBC is using my station as a bargaining point for the TV License. But they are not giving the other stations there part of the TV License money. That's a con.
The bbc would rather take our money then make their own
The BBC is the only corporation that doesn't have to make money in order to survive. I wish someone would give me nearly £4bn just for existing.
BBC should go with commercials and also scramble their broadcasts. If anyone wants to watch that crap, they can easily apply for a smart card. The fact that RTE is requiring you to pay a tv license while also showing advertising is riddiculous. Those people are really being scambed over there. Hopefully the BBC faces a swift demice. No one wants you BBC.
Of course the CEO for Radiocentre would be against the BBC having advertising. It’s less available advertisers for the commercial sector that he represents. They are worried about it.
Worried about it? Simple solution, put out quality content that attracts bigger audiences, ad companies will fight for space, put out carp that no-one watches and they will not.
Why doesn't the government place a (small) tax on all commercial channels to fund a DECENT public broadcasting service?
SIMPLE answer they dont want to lose their free ride.
Hold Jon, there are literally MILLIONS of radio stations online. The airways are not used in todays society. It will also be cheaper for the BBC to broadcast online, both TV and radio
They are aiming for that, they want everything going through the sounds app, but not put a timeline on it yet
@@ChilliJonCarne not everyone is online or has 'smartphones', the internet shouldnt be necessary or a 'requirement' for basic life,
They have masses of ads on Drama and Yesterday channels which are BBC owned.
How about emulating the RUclips model? Free to viewers who are happy to endure adverts; pay a subscription fee to get the ad-free version.
Also, although I don't enjoy ads very much, the production value put into an ad lasting 30 - 40 seconds is huge in terms of the cinematography, editing, colour grading, etc. - some of those car adverts are also shot in exotic locations (a long way from Sheperds Bush). Remember the Cliff Adams Milk Tray adverts? Class.
The only time I ever listen to the radio is when I'm driving and my phone loses signal to play RUclips through the Bluetooth. Abd then it's not the BBC I tune to.
I was watching a Richard Osman podcast, he says that, because of foreign franchise leases, the most successful british tv show ever is 'come dine with me', he says the rights owners make tens of millions each year for just owning the license.
BBC shows ads, license fee continues but the money is kept by the gov as a 'bit tax'. Something similar happening in the Netherlands a few years back I think
For the BBC to show ads would mean the people at the top would need to do some real work. Politicians are constantly lobbied by the BBC for support to raise the Licence Tax. Politicians don't work for nothing.
Because Jon they are scared to death of not knowing how much revenue they won't get ! The gamble they know will destroy them if they can't raise the money to survive ! They would cease to exist !
CBeebies is a 24/7 advertisement for toys.... and magazines etc.
it on the council tax
Cos they want their £5 billion. Itv earn less with adds but BBC have other ways of making money too.
I don't care if the BBC wants to charge £169 a year for its content. The ONLY thing I want is not to pay them for the privilege of consuming non-BBC live content for which I've already paid, such as Amazon. I don't know why the other broadcasters don't challenge this status quo, because the BBC is actively hurting their product, of which live telly is a part.
They do show adds. They are not unrelated commercials, but adds all the same.
AMEN BRO.
My missus has a TV licence in Poland but she has come to stay with me in England for a few months. I don't watch any live TV but she wanted to watch the news from her home town. She has been told by TV licensing that she needs a second license if she wants to watch her local news on the internet. See below from TV licensing... Do I need a TV Licence to watch satellite programmes broadcast from outside the UK or Channel Islands?
Yes, you need a TV Licence no matter where they are broadcast or distributed from. This includes satellite or online streamed programmes from outside the UK or Channel Islands, such as sporting events and foreign shows
Ffs your in a whole lot of trouble..v
The BBC would have to sack all the relations and friends of friends who have jobs specially made for them.
I have been interested in the absolute crap they churn out, if they anything worth watching I would like ads, I object to not being able to watch something on a different channel that is ad funded
NO MORE INDIRECT TAXATION
Just stop paying it. It's easy. You do nothing.
Spot on regarding the self-inflicted pressures the BBC are under. The best example was when Radio 1 & 2 had to share an FM network & Radio 4 was only available on FM when regional stations took over their FM frequencies outside of England.
This could've been resolved in 1978 when there were major LW & MW frequency changes in Europe. It could've been as follows ;-
Radio 1 :- 88.1-90.2 FM & 1053/1089 MW
Radio 2 :- 90.3-92.4 FM & 693/909 MW
Radio 3 :- 92.5-94.6 FM
Radio 4 :- 200 LW & various low-power MW relays
Local & regional BBC radio :- Various MW frequencies
INR - 1215 & additional MW back-up frequency
Popular Radio 4 shows, such as The Archers, Desert Island Discs, Baker's Dozen etc., could've been simulcast on either Radio 2 or 3, education programmes could've been broadcast on Radio 1 (a young person's station carrying educational programmes for their age groups would fit with the station's remit) & as all local/regional BBC stations were predominantly in mono, FM wouldn't have been needed & could've carried Radio 3 after their own programmes came to a close.
But, just like today, a mixture of snobbery & ignorance prevented this happening & the BBC self-inflicted a lot of pressure on itself as a result
I bet they Rue the Day they announced the end of Free T.V. licences for the Silver Surfers to cut costs.
75+ isn't it?
I feel that with the age of the BBC, they try to play on it and try and package themselves as dependable good old, "Auntie Beeb."
And Old is the point! Most people above a certain age, who grew up with nothing but the BBC, and maybe the "young upstart" of ITV, will always watch it and still see it how it was.
Even I was actively encouraged to watch the BBC's Swap Shop over ITV's Tiswas as a kid, and with one TV in the house, it was always the BBC and the Broom Cupboard!
And yeah, back then, there were better programmes to watch.
But not now. Apart from the fact that most kids now rather stream everything, rather than watch TV. And our gen if we are watching TV would rather watch boring ads on ITV than even more boring programmes on the BBC!
And that's the problem for the BBC, that little "upstart" that the BBC has always looked down on is getting less viewing than other platforms.
In the end, the BBC will either have to get ads, get a bailout from the government, or find another way to tax us.
But when you have advertisers want to be on ITV on Saturday night because of Ant & Dec Saturday night show, that apparently had a section in it that had you actively encouraging you to watch All the adverts in a hope to win those advertised products. When else would you go out of your way to actually willing watch them!
Shows like that, and I'm a Celb, BGT, etc, ITV is actively aiming for family age groups, whereas the BBC with their Homes, Antiques, Holidays, Gardening, and Soaps, are stil aiming for a certain older age group.
I used to listen to BBC radio 2, not anymore. Not since the BBC decided Steve Wright and Ken Bruce were too old to either be on or have such a prominent time slot! In an attempt to provide more music for younger audiences. (I'd rather listen to GHR in the car! Lol.)
No one cares if the BBC folded. I certainly wouldn't. Another thing. I don't subscribe to the BBC in any way shape or form. But it's getting forced on me through social media. Wheres the I don't want to watch that crap button?!!! 😡
You don't get adverts for podcasts on BBC Sounds, if your location is detected as the UK.
Forget the BBC showing adverts under the BBC banner. They don't want to, they much prefer their funding handed to them on a plate and no government would ever allow it.
Of course, the BBC carrying adverts would not "grow the pie". Advertisers do not increase their TV advertising budgets because another broadcaster has joined the market. Existing advertisers would see their advertising revenues drop if a big player like BBC were competing for advertising.
Why are adverts shown on UK Gold etc.? Simple; UK Gold does not broadcast under the BBC banner and most people have no idea that it is owned by the BBC. Perception is everything to politicians and BBC executives.
What a broadcaster can charge for advertising is not determined by audience figures alone. The type of audience, in terms of affluence etc., is also in the mix. "I'm a Celebrity ", for example, may command large audience figures but, if many of those who watch it don't have a pot to p155 in, numbers alone are not going to attract advertisers.
When the postie past my house I was heart broken, no invite. I would have like to have know how much the meeting cost to put together, as the BBC do everything on a larger scale, including the cost of everything to justify their cost if a licence.
I do not listen to BBC One radio as I’ve got nothing on there but interests me unlike heart FM heart radio everyone is I’ll listen to it when I feel like it when I volunteer at work, I’ve got it on and it breaks down the day
If they show ads then we’ll know who is behind the propaganda.
No actually I wont, cos I don’t watch them.
What are the laws of running ads in podcasts and radio whilst still maintaining the license fee, surely that goes against the license fee payer. It either one business model or the other surely.
I am waiting for them to put it on the council tax and I will get a boat so I won't be touched by woke tax
Nothing to do with the council.
Hey Jon! Guess what what they sell in home bargains here in Cornwall???
Victoria Malaga in bottles!! My favourite too. And it's cheap. I've just got thirsty talking about it....... The sun is shining and I'm heading to the fridge.
£5000,000,000, and the BBC cant make ends meet.perhaps they should stop broadcasting to 900,000 000 world wide that they are proud off.
Yet it's paid for through the uk licence payer.
One reason Apps are bad and that is commercial information Each App passes on your Data. Buying your own Music is far better. Plus people must save their money.
If the BBC was asubscription service, then it would be under pressure, due to lack of subscribers. That would be good for me, as I could watch other live broadcast stations. I don't want to pay the BBC to watch other hard working commercial channels who have got their fingers out.
Chilli Jon if everyone who pays the licence fee JUST STOPS PAYING IT, what could the bbc do not a lot I suspect.😮
The government would include the licence fee in our council tax or introduce a media tax.
it is the ads, but having a break to make a cuppa during a film is a good thing

They would if you accessed it with an email address that was associated with an address that was previously licensed. People have confessed to this and been fined. Of course, it would require someone confessing, but many people do get fined every week for confessing to a TV licence breach.
I think all they're gettting at with the 'ads will be worse for the viewer' is that the show will have ads in. Thus in their opinion worse than an ad free BBC TV/Radio. Totally ignoring the fact that no one with any sense is watching ads anyway.
I'll happily watch free streaming services that have ads. But during the ads it's muted and I'll watch or do something on the other monitor.
Well, I listen to music on the radio. Only in the car, though. I don't listen to radio indoors.

No problem with ads, I dont watch TV anyway, but i strongly suspect they will put ads on while still charging via licence or compulsary media tax
