1) John is possibly a mystic who knows the future.

2) John is British and lived through Thatcher, so he saw what was coming for America if we continued to follow her economic plan as Reagan championed all the way to TFG.

Anyone else getting a sick feeling of anxiety in their stomach knowing John is about to find out what happened in the US election in 2016?
It is all I have thought about from the beginning of rewatching this season. Here we are at Episode 20, and I can't remember what episode he reveals it. I think when it happened I literally lost time. The whiskey helped/caused that.
Almost every episode has been starting with "We have got to talk about the US election also known as America has died and gone to hell and Satan is p*ssing on its ashes and somehow ej*culating at the same time" and then the next sentence reveals it Hasn't Happened Yet and I think oh god we're still not there yet.
I wouldn't worry about it like that...
Stuff Trump did:
(1) Reduced taxes on the rich. This happens all the time, so it's not an emergency situation.
(2) Not start good government policy. This stuff is hard to get through anyway as it depends on Congress too, not just the president.
(3) Wasn't best for diplomacy.
Being stressed out over things he says is about as silly as voting for him over things he says. It's all just thinktank phrases and lies. There aren't that many MAGA people in the US either. Most of his voters are Republican, and he only gets official support from them since he's their nominee. It's exactly like how Obama didn't give Kamala Harris his endorsement right away... he's likely just waiting to see who becomes the nominee, so he can endorse whomever that ends up being. People supporting the nominee unconditionally is anti-intellectual, but it's standard practice for politicians. It's just how things are, because being nuanced will lose voters in the long run.

Sadly the days of the news being delivered to your door with real content by a paper boy is a thing of the past. We now have fake news, adjusted stories and a lot of people hating you because your telling them the truth and not what they want to hear. We are in trouble, as mush as social media has given us, a lot has created doubt in everything we believed. John,you have a great way of delivering the news, making people see and understand in a very different way. I have learned so much while almost pissing my pants laughing. You rock !
Lmao, did you actually read the news? It was written at a 5th grade reading level and was always just a long form version of AP or Reuters content. The editors chose what got reported and what didn't.
There were neighborhoods getting fire bombed by police in the US, in the 80s, that never got reported in newspapers at the time.

I used to get Op-ed articles published by The Oregonian -- and then I came back after so many years, and saw that the paper was gone. How sad. It's very important to have an objective third party reporting the news.
I like that, for all their jabs at Belgium throughout the years, they decided to use a photo of a Belgian gold medallist to make the point about deciding who is better than everyone else. It's subtle but appreciated.

@@Iason29 I can’t speak to the effect on the women reporters as I’m a man and I am intrigued by the possible psychological reasoning behind the oiled up body, but I can state with certainty that with or without the oil, I would’ve been drooling all the same. One thing about the aesthetics of bodybuilding is that as much as some women like the hulking bodybuilder physique, I have heard on countless occasions how the overly large physique becomes “too much” or speaks to someone being too obsessed with the regimen or abusing steroids. What you might consider an inferiority for Mr. Tonga in comparison with bulkier muscle guys is actually playing to his advantage. His body complements his facial beauty, it doesnt distort it as is often the case with larger bodybuilders. Are there hotter people in the world? I’m sure, but at those Olympics and the subsequent one he attended, I only had eyes for him.

That Tronc bit sounds like something from The Day Today, a UK show that US viewers should check out (along with its kinda-sequel Brasseye as well as anything else that Chris Morris has been involved with).
The “it will be a great time to be a corrupt politician” comment was scary accurate. I literally work for a state government right now where they make you change your party affiliation and donate to the governor before you’re allowed to be promoted to a management position. The lack of quality journalism has created some truly frightening times.

@@gyinagalIt has been investigated before but nothing ever comes of it since the governor’s upper management appointees are very careful not to put anything in writing. All pressure and contact occurs behind closed doors and in person. Plus the state is a 2 party consent state so, if an individual records the conversation to blow the whistle, they will be prosecuted rather than the corrupt officials. It is a sick system.

Yes and no. Yes you are correct that with everything based on capitalism we're kinda fucked. But no if "news" is free, nobody will pay for it. It doesn't matter if people have spare income.
Unless news becomes state owned in some way in the same fashion as local parks, all we'll see is the degradation of good journalism.

Sounds like newspapers were overcharging for print ads. Web ads allow the purchaser to track how many people actually purchase directly due to the ad. People have never been as easily convinced as ad companies told their customers.
If they were, we'd have seen more ads for advertizing.
